As a public speaker, I tend to read many books on the subject. Most of them focuse on the basics of presentation delivery. This book instead focuses on the learning process, such as preparation, delivery and durability to the message. Definitely something new to bring your presentation skills to the next level.

The authors explain how to use their new methodology in assessing the communication style presenters through a personality system. Badge assigns you a personality type, which then lays down how how you prepare for and deliver a presentation based on your characteristics and traits. The Badge system identifies your strengths and opportunities, and provides with practical tips to improve on the areas that are lacking.

The major benefit is to help people become conscious of the way they prepare for a presentation to create messages that impact and endure

What's Your Presentation Persona? Discover Your Unique Communication Style and Succeed in Any Arena by Scott Schwertly and Sunday Mancini.
A practical guide based on a proprietary skill assessment tool. I highly recommend taking the self-assessment test in the book and discover your persona. I am a huge fan of the DISC personality profile so this aligned with my interests very well. After reading the book I spend a lot of time on Scott’s website Ethos3.
There are 15 different communication style buckets. After determining which one you are, they give you advice on how to play on that style and the pitfalls to watch out for. There is power in self awareness and understanding your communication style.

I found the book to be very insightful and informative. Some books are more about how to build the power point. This book is more about how to tap into your native skill set and improve your presentations.
A sample of the communication styles is:
• The Director: a respected leader with an empathetic core
• The Captivator: a charismatic presenter with a natural, unrehearsed
• The Producer: a successful speaker who believes in hard work―not luck
• The Scholar: an always-curious learner informed by their own
• The Liberator: an optimistic visionary who loves to inspire

I never really focused on the kinds of presenters. All I've noticed is that some people are good at presentations; others not so much. This book made me realize the different areas of focus in a presentation. A good read for anyone looking to tailor their presentations based on their personality.

The authors of this book did a wonderful presentation of different presentation personas every person may full into. At the start you will take an assessment to determine what persona you have. After that you can dive right into the part of the book which discusses you persona.

You don't have to read the book in its entirety to get what is relevant to you. You may do so if you are interested enough to know how other persona should go about their challenges or just knowing their strengths.

The book is also written in a style that is very conversational. You may feel as if you are being coached.

The premise behind What's Your Presentation Persona was really intriguing to me. Recently, I have had to give a lot of presentations on research and have felt like I needed to improve my skills. I requested this book in an effort to better my presentation skills. I wish I could say that I found it helpful. There were some good tips in this book, but I don't feel like it really taught me anything I didn't already know. The quiz aspect was fun, but I don't think there was enough explanation about how to answer the questions. It didn't seem to be a very definitive way of gauging someone's presentation style. Also, I had an issue getting the links that are included in the ebook to work. I had to go to the site myself and do a search for the various resources. If I had purchased this book, I would have been quite aggravated that the links were incorrect. Another negative aspect for me is the fact that there is a lot of extra content in the ebook that I will never use because it gives an overview of all the different presentation styles. These are not as relevant for me, but I suppose it can help to know what aspects I could try to cultivate from other styles.

I think this book is timely to improves one's public speaking persona. Even if your persona is not a match to the survey's result, there is something that can be learnt from each persona. Example personas will let you see where you fit too.
