This is one of those books that I one-clicked without knowing anything about it. I mean, it is Tiffany Reisz!!! Pretty much a no-brainer.

I had an inclination that this would be a big departure from her BDSM books, but I wasn't fully prepared for how different it would be. I really don't want to give too much away, however, I can say that this book takes place during two different time periods, 1921 and 2015, and it had a supernatural feel to it (I wouldn't classify this as paranormal though).

Just like all of the previous work I've read by this author, the story features compelling characters.
**Faye/Faith - she is the heart of the story and sole narrator. She has a vulnerability that makes her easily likeable, and while she has experienced moments of weakness over the years, she has become stronger because of those losses. I loved her brutal honest and willingness to walk away when things weren't right, or push forward for something that may be wrong, but felt right (sorry for my vagueness).
**Carrick - initially when he is introduced, I felt a bit skirmish about him, but as more information is presented, I really started to like him. His conflict with Faith felt honest and I liked the sexual tension between them.
**Dolly - this sweet deaf girl, I loved how she didn't let her position hold back her dreams.
**Pat - it is any surprise that the savior in this story is a priest? Now, don't get too excited. He's not like that other priest. But he offers the heroine his help and guidance during at key points in the story.

As in all of the author's work, the written is flawless and the transitions from one time to another were fluid.

This isn't your average story, so go into with an open mind. Because this quote is tested throughout:
"You can't live in the past."

Do you remember in The Bourbon Thief there was this island where they used the special trees to make the whiskey barrels? This island plays a part in The Night Mark. It’s quite adorable, to be honest, and gave me warm fuzzies. The island’s existence (and his owner) is the only connection, though.

Faye misses her dead husband to the point where she tried killing herself, and divorced her second husband when she realized she’s miserable. While trying to find her “self” again, intrigued by a lighthouse, Faye slips and falls in the water, emerging 94 years in the past, to life as Faith Morgan, daughter of the lighthouse keeper who looks exactly like her dead husband, in 1921.

Can you imagine this happening to you? Frankly, I think it could be cool. Sure, no A/C, no modern-day facilities and conveniences. But the quiet, the innocence, the simplicity… those seem so appealing to me.

Anyway, back to the story – Faye is determined to find out everything she can about Carrick, the lighthouse keeper, and about herself as Faith Morgan. As she’s doing that, she learns to recognize which of her feelings are for her husband and which are the ones she develops for Carrick.

The romance aspect here is very slow burn, and Faye’s slip ups with modern figures of speech, her blunt language when it comes to sex and the way Carrick isn’t all that appalled by her sometimes-odd behavior is very refreshing.

As always, Reisz is tying all loose ends, and not one character remains with unresolved issues. As always, there is an aspect of mindfuckery that I’m expecting from her.

This isn’t Soren and Nora. It’s not Kingsley and Juliette and it’s not Griffin and Michael. But it’s Faye and Carrick, and it’s absolutely beautiful.

I do love me a good Tiffany Reisz book. There was a very small connection between this book and the Bourbon Thief.
Anywhoo...now I am not a huge fan of time travel. I just don't usually look for that in a book. I will say that since it is a Tiffany Reisz book I jumped to read it. I was not disappointed. She does seem to be able to write just about anything, I enjoy her style of writing. I enjoy her stories period. I finished the book and was very happy with how things played out. I look forward to whatever she puts out next.

The Night Mark is completely different than anything else Tiffany Reisz ever published. It has NOTHING to do with the Original Sinners series, my favorite books EVER, as you know. It's not as controversial as The Bourbon Thief, and it's not an erotic romance. But I'd know it's a Tiffany Reisz book even if I didn't know who wrote it. Why is that? Tiffany has the ability to make me smile and feel warm inside by the words she writes. Other (very few) authors have that ability too, but The Night Mark is the kind of story only Tiffany can write.

The actual story telling in this book is PHENOMENAL. I will be honest (as usual), the beginning of the story was kind of slow, but once I got the pace of it, I couldn't put it down. The story is BEAUTIFUL, and it makes us believe in time-travel. We know rationally it's not possible, but Tiffany makes us believe it IS possible. This book makes us feel like we're inside the story, like we, the readers, traveled inside of the book, so why can't time-travel be possible?

As you know, I don't usually read blurbs before reading the books, but I don't feel like I cheated with Tiffany! The blurb has nothing on the book (and it gives nothing away). It was a surprise after surprise every time I turned a page.

The plot line is very fresh. Even tough time-traveling can seem quite straight forward (someone traveling to another time is the basic plot line in this kind of book), it's the opposite. I love the angle Tiffany chose with The Night Mark and on what she focused.

I loved Faye and I could definitely relate to her and put myself in her place. She hasn't had the easiest life for the past few years and her struggle could be anyone else's struggle. I really like how relatable she is, the reason she's suffering too. Even though we may not have been through the same things she has, everyone is going through something.

The story is very romantic, not only for the romance aspect of it, but also because of how it was writing. Tiffany's very words are poetic and the world she created with this book cement that. I've always felt like I should have been born and lived in another time (it varies from Medieval Times through the 1960s), so this was the perfect book for me. 1921 never sound so good!

But don't worry, if you're not into History like I am, it won't be an issue, The Night Mark doesn't focus on the History aspect, it focuses on the people, the characters. I actually wish there was more on them, because I've finished this books a few hours ago and I already miss the characters.

One of the things I most liked about it is the fact it's different. Different from other time-traveling books. Different from other contemporary romance books. Different from Tiffany's other books. It's so refreshing to read something so different from a favorite author, but something you can love too. It shows why that author is between your favorites. Because it's not easy to write erotic romance, taboo romance and contemporary romance and excel in all of them. So I bow to Tiffany and her writing. She
did it again!

When I finished The Night Mark I had the biggest smile on my face and tears on my eyes! It was the perfect book, with the perfect story and the perfect writing.

I'm really happy I read it, because every new book of Tiffany I read reminds me why she's my ALL TIME FAVORITE author. They are different and daring and romantic (sometimes in their own way). They make me believe in them and in love. They make me want to be a character inside their pages. I can not imagine a world where Tiffany Reisz's books don't exist, because they've changed my life. And every new book of hers I read, I'm left with a mark (no pun intended). They mark my heart and I know I'll have that mark forever, no matter how many other books I read!

Ever love a book so much that you just want to carry it around with you and hug it and refuse to let it go? Me, too--and this is that book. This is an atmospheric, emotional and incredibly written book with so much to offer the reader.

You know from the blurb that something dramatic is going to happen in this story, but even before it does, the author takes the time to introduce you to the main character in such a way that you feel as if you really know her--could even be her, for that matter. I was impressed with this book from the very first page, easily identifying with the situation the MC found herself in and eager to see how she would get out of it.

As the book progressed, I fell in love with the other characters as well. There wasn't a single person in this book that didn't make me feel some powerful emotion, positive or negative and as the book moved along, I found myself sitting at the edge of my seat, praying things would work out for those that I had quickly come to love.

This is a story of friendship, devotion, lost and found love, history and the modern world all rolled into one and was crafted by an author that knows how to please her audience, and has quickly become one of my very favorite writers. I would recommend this book to everyone.

It is no surprise that Tiffany is one of my favorite authors. I know that with each book that I am going to get fantastic writing, wonderful characters, intriguing plot lines, and unique aspects to each book. With Night Mark we are graciously given those and more.

I typically do not read synopsis for Tiffany’s books because I know I will read them no matter what the subject is and I like to go in with the want of surprise. I did read the synopsis for Night Mark and I was delighted with the mystery of how vague it was.

As I started to read I was immediately reminded of the movie ‘Somewhere In Time’ with Jane Seymour and Christopher Reeves. Both women have broken hearts and both travel back in time.

And that is all that I am going to leave you with!
I want you to go in with a fresh set of eyes and mind as I did.

But I will leave you with this.

I loved, loved, loved Night Mark!

I was invested from page one and truly did not want it to end. When I was done I tweeted Tiffany asking for more, we want more, we need more and to make it so!

It was so intriguing and lovely and different. Each scene was poignant and essential to the making of the story that we are given. It will evoke feelings from you as you read - happy, frustrated, sad, wistful. She made me cry again, yes again. This does not happen often. They were happy tears for the outcome and sad tears because I was at the end of the story and I wanted more! The feels ya’ll, The Feels! Talk about a book hangover, shew!

You will be so thankful that you read Night Mark. It is one of those reads that will stay with you for a long time.

This may be the most traditionally romantic Tiffany Reisz novel I've ever read. I adore her words.

Thank you Harlequin and NetGalley for the ARC!

The Night Mark has a bit of an Diana Gabaldon feel with a Tiffany twist. Twist is definitely what this does to my heart and soul.

Because the synopsis doesn’t say too much, I won’t say much either. What I will say is that Tiffany Reisz has jumped up another notch in my eyes. This story was pure magic. She creates a world like no other.

I realize time travel isn’t possible, but what if it was? If you were hurting so much would you make the choice to leave this world behind? I was so brokenhearted hearing about Faye’s suffering. There’s been one thing after another with her. I’m surprised she’s still standing. When she discovers a way to be happy, but it’s not in this life, she’s willing to do anything in order to find it and keep it.

This book is about love. This book is about pain. This book is about letting the light in and praying that it heals the soul. If you’re in the mood for an epic romance that will have you twisting in your seat as you read, then I think this book will make you happy. Go in with an open mind and an open heart. And don’t read any spoilers. 🙂 In fact, I think this book will be in my Top 10 of 2017. It was that magical and beautiful.

I have a tendency to stay away from romance books. However, I have a weakness for time travel books and I like both Kate Morton and Diana Gabaldon books so I just had to read this book.

Faye lost her husband four years earlier and quickly remarried with her husband best-friend, a marriage that, in the end, didn't work out. Now, she is recently divorced and has traveled to South Carolina to take photos for a calendar. There, to her surprise, she discovers a loophole to the past, to the 20s, and to a man that could be a copy of her dead husband. But, can she find happiness in the past? And, can she love a man that may look like her husband, but is a completely different man?

I quite enjoyed reading the book. It did, however, not really move me very much. It was interesting, but I never really connected all the way with the characters in such a way that I felt for them and the story was a bit too predictable without any surprising twist. I actually think I liked the priest the most in the book, but any man that looks like Gregory Peck is a winner for me. It was a nice little story, not a tearjerker, but a pleasant to read. And, if you like time travel romance then this book is for you!

LOVE Tiffany writing. The way she draws you into the story and her characters lives.

Ok so I grew up on a very small island in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean where the statuesque imposing figure of two large lighthouses hovered. Their presence taken completely for granted by us locals, an every day and ordinary fixture as normal as the crystalline blue waters and powdery beach sand.

I thought of these familiar lighthouses the entire time I read Tiffany Reisz's The Night Mark, and it occurred to me, they are not as familiar as they should be to me. I never gave them a second thought. How does this author have the ingenuity to create a superbly fictional story, fantasy even, and quietly sew in historical facts, racially diverse characters and through it all still have the chops to teach me about day and night marks on lighthouses, the mechanics of them in 1921, and the life of their keeps? That is the makings of a pretty cool book.

Not much is revealed in the blurb, which adds to the mystery of this novel. Faye, the main character is stuck in the past while living in the present. Happiness and contentment with her life is elusive. Driven by hope and perhaps a slither of madness Faye happens upon a sleepy town in South Carolina. Finding work as a photographer, she finds herself drawn in by the mysterious well known light house steeped in folk lure, and legend. Anxious with an unexplained need to unearth its secrets, Faye ignores all warnings of danger surrounding this abandoned lighthouse and finds the answers she thinks she is looking for when it opens its doors to 1921 revealing the love she thought she lost forever.

I immediately became attached to the characters, the unique but familiar setting is revisted, especially if you have read 'The Bourbon Thief'. The beautiful writing, well paced forshadowing and suspense made this a read I hesitated to put down. My only complaint is I wanted to know more of what The Chief was thinking, what he was going through internally, especially while he was away from Faye. In the end, no storyline, tangent or supporting character was wasted. Everything connected, every puzzle piece had a spot, and fit. Once again this author has earned herself another 5 star rating from me.

The Night Mark by Tiffany Reisz was superb. It made me cry so hard, I needed a box of tissues. Loss, grief, and love. All of these entangled into one marvelous read. Imagine finding a love that works, then losing a child. Soon afterwards, losing that husband. For Faith, she seems to go about this round of loss again. Only she lets her husband go. Her heart really wasn't for him. She still longed for her dead husband. He made her laugh so easy. The past consumed her whole. Over took her life. Faith was drowning in her sorrows. One day she decides to divorce and accept a job photographing. Her life soon turns for a different route. Maybe, just this once, she will be happy again...

The Might Mark is stunning. Every page was more intense than the previous. Engaging me to read further. Entertaining in that a modern woman goes to live with a man from the past. A love that swallows her whole. I couldn't stop reading this book. I finished it within an hour. The plot was so entertaining, I didn't dare put it down or stop. Tiffany Reisz is indeed a talented writer. She dragged me deep into her world of fiction and I loved every moment. Tears and all. Overall, I highly recommend this title to readers worldwide.

Reisz spins an excellent time travel-related tale that truly entertains the reader. Faye/Faith is entirely believable and deserves her happy ending. The characters are all strong and well thought out. This book was completely satisfying in every way.

Tiffany Reisz is an amazingly gifted author, so when I saw this book, I knew I had to have it. Thus far, I have eagerly devoured all that she has written, but I have to say hands down this is my favorite story of hers thus far.

"Whoever first said it was better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all had neither loved nor ever lost."

There is no better way to sum up this tragically brilliant story than by using my favorite line from the story itself. Faye and Carrick were both deeply complex characters who both suffered more than anyone probably should have, so it was easy to fall in love with them, and want them to find a way to have a happily ever after despite the fact that they lived ninety-four years apart.

However, this story for me, was less about suspending reality and more about grief, and how it can become like a wave, endlessly crashing down upon a person dragging them farther away each time. Faye definitely represented this, and I think there will be a lot of readers who will be able to identify with her in one way or another. Hopefully this story will allow anyone dealing with their own grief to find the peace and hope that Faye finds.

Overall, I am sure this story will appeal to those who well written and thought provoking stories about true love overcoming even the most insurmountable obstacles.

NUMBER OF HEARTS: 4
Another wonderful story from Ms. Reisz. I absolutely love The Bourbon Thief so I was so excited when I say that Ms. Reisz had another story coming out. While this book is not a continuation of The Bourbon Thief the story does include Bride Island. When I started this book I was not sure what was going to happen. But I really enjoyed Faye/Faith’s time traveling romance. Faye’s journey is one that a lot of people can connect with. So many people wish they could go back in time and change something. But the question should be what are you going to give up in the present to relive the past.
If you enjoy time-traveling stories I think that you will enjoy this story very much. I can’t wait to see what Ms. Reisz has in store for us next.

Full review to be published online in mid March.

THE NIGHT MARK is a mysterious story about Faye, whose friend has contacted her unexpected about a job. She agrees to a job for the Ladies of the Low Country Preservation Society, who need a photographer for their annual "Journey Through Time" fundraising calendar. Photography is Faye’s passion, and after four years of pausing her life she wants to try living again. She arrives in Beaufort and meets the most intriguing people. Faye was a quite likable character, and the reader enjoys watching her grow in this book. The time travel aspect was well done; and fit the story well. There is a little more to the plot here than the average time travel story. The mystery aspect is interesting, and leaves the reader guessing. Everything was connected and is well thought out. The secondary characters stole my heart and they added so much to the story. This book was a big puzzle and all the pieces fit perfectly together.

THE NIGHT MARK eases the reader into the story. The summary really doesn’t contain too much information; leaving the reader free to experience the book without any preconceptions. I do wish the book had been a bit longer, though. I wanted to see the characters grow more as a couple. At the end I just had this feeling that there was something missing, that I didn't get complete closure. THE NIGHT MARK is a standalone read, and fans of both Tiffany Reisz’s writing and of Time Travel stories alike will enjoy this intriguing book.

I am a huge fan of Tiffany Reisz so I was so excited to dive into The Night Mark!! From just reading the synopsis I knew it was going to be a great read, but it ended up being a fantastic read!!

Imagine coming back to consciousness after a bad fall and finding yourself 94 years in the past!!! Well that exactly where Faye Barlow has found herself. After slipping off a pier in 2015, Faye woke in 1921 as Faith Morgan!! And crazier yet, she was found by Carrick Morgan, who is the spitting image of the love of her life, her deceased husband, Will Fielding. Faye has to quickly figure out how to navigate her new surrounds/circumstances all the while be very careful not to let on that she is Faye, not Faith. That is the basis of The Night Watch and what completely "hooked" me into this phenomenal novel!

Tiffany Reisz is an automatic must read for me! The Night Watch took me by surprise because we get to see a softer side of Ms. Reisz writing and I LOVED IT! What a beautiful love story!! The storyline was masterfully crafted and never wanted it to end. The characters were immediately endearing which is the reason I devoured this gem in 1 day!! I was very fortunate to receive an advanced reader's copy of this novel and I found it completely fitting that I read this book on New Year's day- what an epic way to bring in 2017! The Night Watch is a 5+++ star read that EVERYONE needs to put at the top of their TBR list! A 2017 must read!
