Just uploading my review from a while ago.
Ahh Rachel Abbott you have done it again. If you haven’t read my ravings about Rachel Abbott and this series then where have you been? I absolutely love Tom Douglas and this detective series. I’m always eager to read the next one and this one did not disappoint!

Tom Douglas is back with a new case to solve! There are two stories intertwining in this book and they’re both just as gripping as the other making you turn the pages at super speed to see how all the dots connect together!

I won’t go too much into detail about the plot because if you haven’t read any of the Tom Douglas detective series you need to catch up… NOW!

Rachel Abbot’s writing is engrossing and intelligent and she just gets better and better with her storylines. I have never given her books less than 4 stars and I can’t wait to read more 😊

I’m only slightly disappointed that there won’t be another book out for ages because I always read them too fast!

All in all, I highly recommend this series for any detective thriller fans out there and if you like a clever mystery!

I am sorry for the inconvenience, but I don't have the time to read this book anymore and have lost interest in the concept. I believe that it would benefit your book more if I did not skim your book and write a rushed review. Again, I am sorry for the inconvenience.

This was an extremely addictive read. Child grooming is an awkward, horrid subject and even though this is the theme of this book, it wasn't in detail, but the hints of it were creepy enough. I just wanted to shake every character and say "just talk to someone". That's the unfortunate truth of the matter. Nobody does.
Rachel Abbott is a great storyteller and I'm looking forward to reading the next installment of Tom Douglas.

One of the best books I have read in a very long time. I could not put it down. There were so many twists and turns I couldn't wait to turn the page and was left guessing until the very last one. A fantastic read.

The Sixth Window by Rachel Abbott
Discovering a dodgy link on her new partners laptop, Natalie moves with her daughter to 'safety'. Of course all is not as it seems and soon, Natalie's daughter, Scarlett is drawn to the next house and the dangers that await her there. Combined with this is the recent suicide of a young girl. This is a multi faceted, nuanced and addictive read. Once you start you won't be able to put it down - so - be warned - allow yourself time to savour it.

This was the first book by Rachel I've read, and I promise you, not my last. The book grabbed you from the start and doesn't let go. It was really a very entertaining, thrilling read and on to the second one for me!

Natalie Grey lost her policeman husband in a hit and run accident a year and a half ago. The driver of the car has never been found. She and her teenage daughter are still grieving, but Natalie has found a new love. Ed Cooper ...her deceased husband's best friend. Moving into Ed's house has been exciting, scary, all the emotional turmoil one would expect.

However, Natalie finds something .. something that has truly scare her and she feels her daughter is in real danger from Ed. Not knowing where to turn she takes her daughter and moves into an apartment building.

But this move may be far more dangerous to her daughter ......

DI Tom Douglas is investigating the suicide death of another teenage girl. This case draws him closer to Natalie and her daughter. How are these cases connected? Douglas is concerned enough that he re-opens the hit and run case.

There are multiple suspects, all have secrets and all tell lies. Is this to protect the families of the deceased ..or is it something much more sinister?

The characters are solid, story line is suspenseful. The only thing I did not like was the ending. It just didn't match what I had just read. Deducted 1 star for the ending.

Many thanks to the author / Black Dot Publishing / Netgalley for the digital copy of this book. Opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

I've read several Rachel Abbot's books and enjoyed some more than others. This one was quite readable, with intriguing story line and plenty of twists and turns along the way. I like the characters of DCI Tom Douglas and his sidekick Becky, and will certainly read the next one in the series.
Many thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for the ARC.

Having read all the DCI Tom Douglas books and loving them all I was overly excited when it was announced book six was to be released. And Rachel Abbott did not disappoint with The sixth Window. I know that when I pick up one of her books that I have to make sure I have time to read it because I don’t want to put it down and again like the others in the series I was totally hooked from page one.

Tom Douglas is a fantastic character, I will admit I have a little crush on him. He’s quite a breath of fresh air. He’s determined, reliable and caring and over the series we’ve gotten to know him a bit better each time. Although saying that if you were to pick up The Sixth Window as your first Rachel Abbott read it would work well as a stand alone as there is enough information to keep you going and not feel like you are missing parts. I enjoy the partnership between Becky Robinson and Tom, they make a great team.

The story centres around Natalie and her daughter Scarlet, Natalie’s husband Bernie was killed in a hit and run accident 18 months previous and Natalie has started a relationship with Bernie’s best friend Ed. When Natalie discovers something on Ed’s computer she takes Scarlet and moves to an apartment in the city where she thinks they’ll be safe. Meanwhile Tom is investigating the death of a teenage girl, it looks to be suicide but her family follow strong religious views and can not comprehend that their daughter would take her own life.

The Sixth Window tackles some difficult yet very believable and scary subjects. It takes you on a roller coaster ride of emotions and fear and really not knowing who to trust through out the book. The two story’s are very cleverly woven together and I felt breathless at times while reading with the fear of not knowing. Rachel Abbott really has a talent for drawing you in from the first page and keeping you enthralled right to the very last page. This is another spectacular edition to the Tom Douglas series and leaves enough questions at the end to let you hope that maybe the characters may pop up again in future Tom Douglas books or a possible novella like Nowhere Child. Either way I can’t wait for the next instalment and I highly recommend the whole series.

The Sixth Window is another brilliant novel from Rachel Abbott. From it's dramatic opening to its chilling conclusion it's a novel that will grip you from start to finish.

Bernie Gray, a respected Police Officer is tragically killed in a hit and run. A year later his widow Natalie and daughter Scarlett are living with Bernie's best friend, Ed.

Also a police officer, Ed makes Natalie feel safe. Until something happens to make Natalie question if Ed is all he appears to be and how well she really knows her late husband's best friend.

Moving her and Scarlett across Manchester away from Ed's home, seems like a good idea to Natalie. She needs to be close to her daughter and she needs to be away from Ed. Finding a small flat for the both of them, seems like a perfect solution.

When the investigation into Bernie's death is reopened, Natalie is pleased. She wants to bring whoever killed her husband to justice. Scarlett is not so sure, for she is harbouring a secret about her Father and an argument they had on the morning he was killed.

She is certain that her Father was having an affair, and doesn't want her Mother to ever have to find out. Bernie was put on a pedestal by Natalie and Scarlett doesn't see why death should change this.

But as the investigation gathers pace, and the world around Scarlett is changing, she realises that she can't hold on to secrets forever.

Alongside the investigation into Bernie Gray's death, DCI Tom Douglas investigates a teen suicide. It seems the most unlikely of coincidences, but something brings the two investigations together in a way that no one would have believed possible.

Gripping from the outset, the Sixth Window is a novel that demands the readers attention, and will probably still have it long after it's been finished.

This is the latest Tom Douglas novel and the darkest so far.

Natalie, the widow of a Bernie, a police officer, has to suddenly move from the country into an apartment in a block in central Manchester, which is a part of a converted workhouse. With her is her teenage daughter, Scarlett, who is still traumatised and feels guilty about her father’s death.
A previous tenant claimed that the flat was haunted, and when Scarlett starts to hear unusual sounds her investigations lead her into dangerous territory.
A teenage girl dies falling from a high building, and the police investigation starts to uncover secrets.
The book addresses the manipulation and grooming of young vulnerable teenage by unscrupulous men very sensitively and realistically, and that and the re-investigation of Bernie’s death creating an edge-of-seat drama.
There is some light relief as Becky tries to organise Tom’s love life, and a new, methodical policeman is introduced.
The end was satisfying, leaving some loose ends…….

Thanks to Netgalley and Black Dot Publishing for the opportunity to read this book.

Rachel Abbott's character, DCI Tom Douglas, has become one of my favorite characters. i enjoy the dark storylines revolving around his investigative team. This installment has Tom Douglas and his second in command, Becky, investigating the death of a law enforcement officer who was struck by a car eighteen months earlier. The officer's widow, Natalie, is now in a relationship with his best friend, Ed, and she and their teenaged daughter are living with him. Natalie sees something that makes her question everything she believes about Ed, and she takes her daughter, Scarlett, and rents an apartment. Soon, Scarlett realizes shady things are happening in their new apartment building, but she is afraid to tell anyone. It is impossible for mother or daughter to know who to trust, and this dark, twisting tale has them in an untenable situation.

I really enjoyed the familiar characters in this book, and liked getting to know the new ones. The storyline kept me guessing, and I'm still not sure what to think! This was a great addition to the series, and I'm already looking forward to finding out what Tom and Becky will encounter next. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for providing a copy of the book in return for an honest review.

I love all of Rachel Abbott's books and The Sixth Window is no exception. I was kept guessing through the entire book. I cannot wait for the next DCI Tom Douglas book. I need more of Tom, more of Becky, more of all of them. Thank you Netgalley for the advanced copy of the book.

Rachel Abbott is one of those authors that I would stand in line outside of a bookstore for. I love every book she has written. She does not disappoint with The Sixth Window. The only complaint about this book that I can make is that I wish it was longer. I wish there was more time for the personal aspects of Tom's life. I need more. Other than that the story was excellent. She takes you through twists and turns with such brilliance and ease. All of her characters are written so beautifully. She makes you instantly connect with them and care for them, or instantly question everything about them and wonder if they could possibly be the suspect. I hope we see many more Tom Douglas books by Rachel Abbott.

I have read all of Rachel Abbott's books and I have never been disappointed, but I think this was one of her best. I could not put this down. There was so much going on with all of the characters and I thought literally any of them could have been guilty of anything. I kept going back and forth thinking this person was crooked and then, I said, no it's this person. I stayed up till almost midnight on a work night because I had to finish the book to find out what was going on and how all the pieces fit together and I was not disappointed. There was even a twist at the very end. I loved this book.

Thanks to Net Galley for a review copy.

The Sixth Window is the 6th book in the DCI Tom Douglas series. I have read all the books in this series and this one does not disappoint. All the characters are well developed and you can easily read this book without reading the others beforehand. This was a great thriller with lots of twists and was not easily to figure out. I highly recommend this book along with the whole series.

I would like to thank NetGalley and Black Dot Publishing for supplying a copy of Rachel Abbott's "The Sixth Window" in exchange for a honest review.

I can't believe how many great books I have read this year, even though it's only March. Having said that, "The Sixth Window" by Rachel Abbott is among the most amazing novels I have read in a long time.
Since I just had to find out how the book ended, I read until 3am last night. Sitting at my desk now, with my eyes half closed, drinking a third cup of coffee, do I regret my decision to stay up? Absolutely not! This novel took me on an incredible journey. My arms were literally covered in goosebumps the whole time. It was so worth it!
I must admit that this is the first of Rachel Abbott's novels that I've read but it is most certainly not the last. Even though this is the sixth book in the series, it reads as if it was a really good standalone. Not even once, did I experience any confusion, resulting from me not having read the previous instalments.
"The Sixth Window" is a fast-paced, well thought out novel that kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. The characters are very realistic and I found it easy to identify with them.
Having read "The Sixth Window", I feel as if I have somehow changed on the inside. As if I have been through something and now I won't ever be able to go back to being the person I was a few days ago. This may seem a little far-fetched but I honestly cannot imagine now not having read that book. It somehow became a part of me.
Thank you so much to the author, the publisher and of course - NetGalley, for this amazing experience.

Another absolutely fantastic thriller from Rachel Abbott. I have now read all Ms Abbotts books and each one of them are fabulous. This book was a rollercoaster of a ride. I read it in just over a day because I just couldn't put it down. It draws you in from the very first page. You are left wondering who to trust, there are no easy clues to who's good or who's bad in this book. You just have to keep reading as one minute you trust one person and the next you're doubting them. Absolutely brilliant and a book that will stay with me for a long time to come.
