DNF'd this book and at this time I do not plan to ever continue or finish the book as I requested and began the book in four years ago.
This story kept me reading from book one! Also, that cover caught my eyes from the beginning! Totally recommend it!
I wasn't quite sure what to expect with that title and the cover of the book but it was the cover that initially drew me in to read and review this book. I've never read anything by this author but I got the sense that there was another book prior to Ice Girl. There were instances where references were made and at times it was kind of odd However, none of those references deterred me from understanding what the story was about.
I found the book to be well paced, very engaging, and had some adorable moments. I really like the heroine as she seemed to be kind of naive but also needed to grow up really fast. This was a great fantasy/paranormal book and if you like stories about witches learning their powers and the balance between good and evil, this would be a fun book to read. I would have liked it to be a bit longer though but I'm assuming there will be more installments.
I would definitely love to read the sequel to this book.
This is my first book by Andy Mulberry, and I also did not read the first book of the series, so I really did not know what to expect.
It took me a little while to get into the story, but that might be my fault, considering that I read the book out of sequence. After all, it is a part of a pretty popular series, and I was not familiar with the setting, nor the world. But once I read a couple of chapters, I connect well enough with the characters who are all well-developed.
What I did not like, that I felt left a little hanging at the end. While I love book series, I prefer them to at least close enough to a story line to allow me to leave the book satisfied, even if I am longing for more. This book, however, made me want to read the next one right away, but not in a good way, because I wanted more of a conclusion.
This is the sequel to Fire Girl but you do not find out where the title comes from until the end. The conclusion is a bit of a mystery and you're left wondering how she survived. Does Sam actually have ice powers too now? What are Langley's true feelings regarding his daughter?
The main story line ends but I'm curious to see how the bigger story will work out. Hopefully I won't have to wait too long for the next in the series.
This book was hard for me to get through the first chapter but good. Thing I did because its a very good story.
Upon looking at the cover, I thought it was like other books, a different story but Sam and Dan are still there.. but no, and I am glad.
To be honest.., after reading the last page, I was "wait.. what?? that's it?!?!?" really, Ms. Mulberry, its like showing a child a giant lollipop and not giving it.. T__T
And because of these questions, I am positively excited for the next book!!! :)
I received a copy of this book from netgalley for review.
I didn't remember the first book right away, but the author did a good job of bringing in just enough information from book one for me to catch up quickly. I enjoyed this one just as much as the first book. I liked the new characters, especially Lilly. I'm hoping we'll see more of all of them in the next one.
I received an ARC ebook from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
ICE GIRL is an engaging urban fantasy YA novel with witches and werewolves. Although I didn't read the previous book, I connected with the characters right away -- no confusions. Conflict between sisters and brothers, a love that must endure, and a power-thirst villain make ICE GIRL an excellent novel.
All in all, great characterization and plotting. Highly recommended.
Ice Girl by Andy Mulberry is a romance and teens and ya read.
Samantha Winters formerly known as Beaufart is a witch who can control fire at her will. She is seeing Dan a shapeshifter but not so much lately. She has a half sister Eve who is not like Samantha and cannot stand her. She would like to see Samantha go down. Her relationship status is complicated and the nightmares all too real. Someone is murdering women, drowning them on dry land. Too caught up in her love life, she doesn’t see the storm headed her way. This is book 2 and although I haven't read book 1 this can be read as a stand a lone. I really enjoyed this book. Samantha was my favourite character. This had me gripped from the start and i was rooting for Samantha all the way. This is a must read and I would highly recommend this book. 5*. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book from netgalley.
