A wonderful sequel to Firstlife. The world is complex and so are the relationships in them. I liked the choices given, made and taken. And as always, our shining couple is proceeding strongly.

I didn't enjoy this novel as much as the first book, Firstlife, but it was still a fun read.
I found it slower paced, despite the increased action, and sadly Ten didn't feel as relatable in this book.
We definitely see the world expand and the story develop but as a whole I don't think it added much to the series.
Will be continuing on with the series but definitely enjoyed the first book more.

I will start off by admitting that I didn't have very high expectations for this book. I didn't mind the first book, but I wasn't overly invested in it - so when this second book popped up, out of a hinting curiosity to know what was going to happen, I requested it.

And boy am I glad I did! This book was infinitely stronger than the second book, the stakes were raised, I was a mess of emotion, and I flew through it. The series as a whole, I'm still not completely in love with it - I think maybe I've been reading so much YA lately that things are starting to blur with similarities - but I liked this second book enough that if the third book is even better again then it'd be quite a solid series!

Overall, excellent second book!

Cover Art:

I love that this cover matches the first book so well! They are both gorgeous! I love the hour glass with Troika in the bottom of the glass with I'm assuming the Lifeblood spilling from it! It's beautiful and fits the books so well.

Writing:

I had a few issues with the writing in this first book that were better in this book! I really enjoyed the writing in this one! I still love the quotes at the beginning of each chapter. I didn't mention this in my review of firstlife, but I love that they add in messages that were sent between characters, set out like IMs! I love the additions of things like this in books, it just adds that bit extra to the story, rather than just reading about the messages in a paragraph like most books do.

I love that the descriptions of each of the places in Troika had enough info to set a basic idea what the places looked like but also allowed for the reader's imagination to do the rest. I really enjoy that in books!

Plot:

I love the plot of this one, maybe even a little bit more than the first book! I liked that we got to explore more of Troika in this book! A lot was going on in this book! It was action packed and barely ever slow! Basically the entire book you are confused as to who is actually trustworthy as Ten's trying to figure it out herself and it definitely keeps you on the edge!

Characters:

The first 3/4 of the book I was still on the fence about what side Killian was on! It was driving me wild, but in the end, it's actually clear, I hope! I still really like Ten, I liked seeing her develop as a person in this book! I liked that we got to see Sloan again and that there was a change in her! We met some awesome new characters that I really enjoyed getting to know like Meredith and Levi. There was of course characters that I enjoyed but I didn't like as people in the story, I won't say who as I don't want to slip in any spoilers!

Overall:

So I gave this book 1 more star than Firstlife and that's because the few little issues I had with the first book were better in this book! I loved the plot and the characters in this book! The cover is gorgeous and the writing was really good! I really have nothing to fault with this book and I hate that I will have to wait around a year for the next book!

I received an ARC of this novel with thanks to NetGalley and the publisher. in exchange for a honest and voluntary review.

i really liked this book.
I'm actually going to go back to read the first book. but without reading the first one i at first was hesitant to read let alone review an ARC of this book but i promised i would do one, so don't stop reading yet!

ok so first thoughts. Reading the first book IS A MUST!!!!! as i feared reading the first few pages i felt like i had missed something. but what had i missed? the journey of Tenly ( ten to her friends) to the point of where the book starts?... yeah i missed that. I missed this whole Troika and Myriad thing too.
this kind of spoiled my experience with this book.
so i continued on. some authors explain briefly what happened to get to this point.
you kind of get that with this book, but it is expertly weaved into the storyline that its not entirely visible. which is great for the continuing reader (aka people who read book 1).
so it turns out i haven't missed much at all..... but i still recommend reading book 1 .

I like whats going on between Killian and Ten. its interesting and i hope to see more of it.
but the constant growth of Ten is really something to watch. but lets face it i think i'm developing a new book character crush on Killian!

Gena Showalter has once again created great characters. Characters that you love, laugh and cry with (and for).
I just lapped this book up. once i got into it. seriously read the first book though. the start was a bit rough for me, but once i caught on, i just became absorbed in the book.

Im going to go back and read the first book and most likely add this and the others in the series into my collection!

Absolutely amazing, I cant fault this book; and the series is just flawless.

I love the way Gena writes, and the world building is beautiful. The characters she makes us fall in love are some of the best characters I have ever read about.

I am looking forward the next instalment to the series, I cant wait to read what every one else has thinks.

Showalter returns to the realm of the Everworld in this thrilling sequel to Firstlife.
Tenley Lockwood has made her choice of realm in the Everlife and book two of the Everworld series sees her mostly dealing with the consequences of that decision.
A fast-paced plot keep thing ticking over, while Showalter blends a classic Romeo and Juliet style romance with plenty of action.
The novel is another winner for fans of the series and will appeal to young adult audiences who enjoy Cassandra Clare's The Mortal Instruments books or Showalter's Alice in Zombieland novels.
