A “collector” is hunting down and killing the “perfect women” of New York and leaving their bodies behind in creepy crypts and mausoleums. FBI agent Craig Fraiser is heading up the investigation, aided by his lover, forensic psychologist, Kieran Finnegan. The two have worked together before, but this time Craig is uneasy. He’s worried that the killer is too close to Kieran and he’s proven right when the latest body is found underneath a 200-year-old deconsecrated church turned night club, located right behind Kieran’s family pub, Finnegan’s. High octane excitement from Graham will please her legion of fans

First off, it you haven't been keeping up with the series, THE AWAKENING is not the book to start with. These stories are not standalone reads; some plots and the character development builds from book to book. If you are a regular reader, though, you are in for a treat.
As always, the book is slow building, eerie, and creepily atmospheric. Amelia’s powers as a ghost seer have evolved quite a bit from the beginning of the series, where she was just a cemetery restorer who saw ghosts. It may be too slow going for some; but I found the atmosphere building to be part of the charm. Honestly, the plot of the book is fairly simplistic and the who and what of the child's death is easily discerned…it's the getting there that is so enjoyable. There was a twist about the child at the end that I did not see coming.
Also for the regular reader, Amelia’s personal situation with the Conge’ and Devlin is finally resolved, albeit a tad quickly and conveniently. That was no surprise. What did surprise me, however, was that I got to the very end and realized this is the last book in the series. If it's not ending here, then due to various resolutions, it will be going in a vastly different direction.
I've truly enjoyed the "Graveyard Queen"series. Amelia has grown over the course of the series; both personally and in the growth of her supernatural powers. I look forward to whatever Amanda Stevens comes up with next.

Yeah, this was an absolutely wonderful book! I've loved this series from the beginning, and now I'm a bit sad to say goodbye! But it's a fantastic ending, and I really enjoyed reading it! Everything just ended very well, and I absolutely loved it!
Of course, there's a graveyard, and there's secrets and creepy happenings! That the powerful would do something like bury their secrets-mistress's and kids with said mistress's-without their names in this graveyard, seems like something they'd actually do. And yeah, that's pretty horrifying!
Things are shaken up in this book. Like, that there's a secret with her adoptive mom's family. Usually it's her birth parents (and her grandfather with whom she grew up with as her adoptive father) but this time, it wasn't Amelia's birth relatives. Ish, since her grandfather is married to her grandmother!
I really enjoyed that ending! We've wanted Devlin and Amelia together for the whole series, and yeah, when they broke up in The Visitor, that sucked! But they got their happy ending! There was a bit of a sad part, and I wish that the ending had been longer, but yeah, it was a fantastic ending!
Loved this book so much, and I can't wait to read whatever Amanda Stevens writes next!
