I really liked this one!
Jenny was really spunky!
The banter between Jenny and Ethan was off the charts!
The steamy-ness was high!
Jenny, looking for a better job came across Mason and Associates, she applied and was instantly offered an interview, on the way to her interview she bumps, literally bumps into this sexy stranger, then he opens his mouth.
She doesn't know if she wants to kiss him or slap him.
Then low and behold when she finally gets to her interview, who does she see behind the desk?
None other than the cocky, sexy stranger from the park.
Ethan liked Jenny,
She doesn't back down and matches him banter and then some.
Ethan has a past and he very much kept it in his future, he's very single minded when it comes to that subject but when Jenny comes along things start changing.
As much as i liked it, i couldn't fully love it. I'e the 4 stars instead of 5.
It felt like it needed something.
I don't know what, but it felt like it was missing something.
There seemed to be some miscommunication in parts that could of easily been resolved if they bloody spoke to eachother.
But other than that i really liked it!
❤💋

I really enjoyed this one. It was a super sweet read. It was well-written and nicely paced. No OW/OM drama. The only angst came from the couple themselves. It had some nice sex scenes. A little bit of humor. A little bit of sadness. A couple of interesting side characters (who will be featured in the next book.) A set of likable main characters. Though Jenny DID get on my nerves a couple of times with her tendency to blame Ethan for things that were out of his control. This was especially frustrating when something happens at the end, and her reaction was so OTT and distasteful if I had been Ethan I would have washed my hands of her right then. Overall though this was a really enjoyable way to spend a few hours.

4 - "You were definitely a surprise." Stars!
Nothing gives me greater pleasure than in the discovery of an author whose writing I really gel with. Sloane Howell hit the spot for me on every level with Bossed and I am eager to read more from him in the future.

You know you are onto a winner, when you are snort laughing from the first chapter of a book onwards, and the spark and snark between Jenny and Ethan, kept me entertained for the whole book.
"Are we finished here..?"
"I bet you hear that a lot fro the ladies."
Both very strong personalities, it took milliseconds for Ethan to rub Jenny up the wrong way, and that was pretty much the theme of the story from then on in. It also doesn’t take them long to realize that along with their insane verbal chemistry there is a large amount of attraction as well, an attraction that Ethan is initially reluctant to explore.
A woman I was attracted to had no business working at my agency. That would only end up with one outcome… a disaster.
This is one of those books that does what it says on the tin, you can work out pretty early on what the potential pit-falls are going to be for this couple in a relationship sense, but it was so well written, with whip-smart dialogue that it really didn’t bother me.
"We can’t keep doing this. This cycle of running hot and cold. I need warm. Constant warmth…"
"I can do warm."
Ethan was your typical cocky and arrogant businessman, but he had the goods to back up that arrogance. Whilst Jenny stood up to him and fought her corner rather than back off and let him have the upper hand all the time, even though her needs for the pay packet her job bought in were bigger than just her own.
"I can't fuck this up. I need this job..."
I am so pleased to see that Kelsey and Matt (Ethan & Jenny’s BFFs) are going to get a book, both were strong secondary characters in Bossed, and I am looking forward to seeing what sort of story Sloane gives them when Scored releases in May.

First time reading this author and I really loved this book!!! Loved that it was written by a man. I read this in two days which is fast for me lately, I would be trying to work at my job and dying to get home to read this, the characters and their story really drew me in, I highly recommend this book to anyone that loves to read a fun fast paced book!

Girl meets boy, boy turns out to be the owner of the company she's interviewing for. What could possibly go wrong when you're already antagonizing each other? Throw in family drama on both sides and you want to find a way to root for them.

Great read!
When Jenny Jackson is in a tizzy to get to a job interview she literally runs into the biggest jerk out on the sidewalk. When said jerk gives Jenny a condensending reponse to her apology, Jenny cannot hold back and lets loose on him. Well, guess what? Yeap- you guessed it- he's the boss!
When the interview goes about as well as their initial sidewalk meeting, Jenny doesn't hold back and again let's loose with her mouth and tells Ethan Mason off and what he can do with his job. A last jab as she flees the office has Ethan Mason hiring her on the the spot. So how do you work with a sexy, intelligent man who daily berates his staff and belittles their work. Well, if you are Jenny Jackson you call him out and give just as much mouth to the boss and he gives everyone else. Needing the job to take care of her ailing father, Jenny is having a hard to keeping in control around Ethan Mason.
Ethan has never had anyone stand up to him and tell him off. He actually kinda likes when Jenny does it. He knows he should fire her, he would never let anyone else treat him this way. Instead, he wants Ms. Jackson in his bed.
These two bring the banter, the heat and the fun. Jenny is taking care of her terminally ill father and before Ethan knows this he does a few stupid things that make Jenny furious. Byt no one can apologize like Ethan Mason.
This story while steamy hot, was sweet, sad and heartwarming. Ethan tried to come as big bad boss but Jenny wrangled him in. Loved the emotional elements of the story- they were tearjerkers.
Loved Matt and hoping he gets a story!

As far as firsts go, Bossed was pretty great. It wasn't perfect, but it ticked the hot and sexy boxes, has characters who have a strong presence and Sloane Howell has a writing style that, on the whole, worked well for me.
"I’d worked my ass off building my agency, and I’d be damned if my dick was going to ruin all that hard work."
It's no secret that I have a love-hate relationships with alphaholes. 9/10 I sit here giving my eyeballs a workout whilst wanting to kick their rear ends into oblivion for their idiot behaviour. And this was the case with Ethan Mason when we first meet him and I admit I was rapidly becoming wary. However, sometimes I am wrong (shh that's our secret, hubby need never know) and once Ethan softens his ways and shows us what's underneath all the bravado, I settled down and very much enjoyed the ride. Even with the odd moments when he was a douchecanoe and I wanted to kick his arse to kingdom come, because it was all in the balance and Sloane Howell got that right.
“God, you’re so filthy.” “We’ll see who’s filthy when you’re coming and my name is echoing around the room.”
Enter Jenny Jackson, Ethan's newest employee and a stubborn woman who doesn't mince her words and calls him on his crap from the moment they meet--my kind of lady. They butt heads and are soon bumping many other body parts because they have a passionate chemistry in every sense of the word. And as the story progresses, the emotional card comes into play because neither of these characters has had/are having an easy time of things.
"When I was with her, I was happy. When we were apart she was all I thought about."
There were a couple of things I would have liked to have seen: the descriptions of Ethan and Jenny were pretty thin, yet their best friends were described much more so, the pacing was a little off in the middle with the story seeming to have a monetary stall and <spoiler>Jenny forgave Ethan way too easy for one particular moment of stupidity in my opinion</spoiler>. But overall this was a sound start to the series, I do like a man who isn't quite as he seems and who falls and falls hard, that's what you get here and I'm looking forward to seeing what Scored brings when it's released in May.

Bossed is the first book I have read by Sloane Howell. I enjoyed the story and liked the banter between the characters. I look forward to exploring more books by this author.

Bossed is a romance centered around strong-willed Jenny and her eventual and equally-stubborn boss Ethan. Their first meeting is predictably antagonistic, a quality that carries throughout the book. Ethan runs a tight ship at his sports management agency, and Jenny is a constant foil that he can't resist. Their sexual attraction is, of course, instant and provides a driving force for the book.
Although the plot is pretty interesting and certainly keeps one reading, the nuances of the story and characters left me skeptical and struck me as unrealistic. The power struggle between Ethan and Jenny is realistic; his reaction to her challenging his authority in the workplace is completely contradictory and frankly, unbelievable. I also found Ethan's acquiescence to Jenny unlikely, regarding her absence from work to care for her ailing father and response to her advocating for her coworkers. While not wholly impossible, it just seemed way more fairy tale than realistic romance. Without providing more spoilers, I think it suffices to say that truly enjoying the book will require more suspension of disbelief than comes naturally to me.
While I have critiques, I can say that I enjoyed reading Bossed. It really is an interesting story with characters that are engaging on their own merits. I'm not a baseball fan, but I appreciated how skillfully Howell made it a primary interest of the characters, without making this a story about baseball with a hint of sex and romance.

After a not so pleasant encounter with a good looking but very rude guy while walking to a job interview, Jenny arrives without a minute to spare only to find that her potential boss is the guy from earlier. Ethan is arrogant, bossy, tough, and can be downright mean. Meeting Jenny changes all that. She challenges him, gives it back as good as he gives it out and she sure doesn't put up with his crap. He shouldn't have hired her, but he can't stop thinking about her in a way a boss shouldn't think about his employee. Attraction wins out, and thank God it does, because these two are amazing together...be prepared for done smoking hot sex scenes! But, you know that feeling when things seem to good to be true? Well, for Jenny and Ethan, that other shoe drops more than once! It's hilarious, witty, heartbreaking, and so heartfelt...I shed tears of laughter, sadness, but most of all, happiness.

This book is a bit of a different twist for Sloane, save for the baseball theme... because we know the Howell's love baseball.
I liked this book. I wanted to like it more because it's Sloane. I loved the plot line and the basic story. I just has a little trouble getting onboard with Ethan. I loved Jenny and her gal pal. Loved the way they looked after Jenny's father. And wow, did I love Matt. (can't wait for that story) But Ethan didn't do it for me. This book had all the steam that Sloane is so well versed at writing and the little turns that kept your interest. Ethan was a class a dick and I'm good with that, I just couldn't connect with him on any level. Being the office ogre was really the only time this guy elicited any sort of emotion from me, usually an eye roll and some foul language. He was just all over the place. The rest of the characters were consistent. Enough said.
I love Sloan Howell and his books and Mrs. H too! If you haven't read any of them by all means do, you will not be disappointed. This one may not have pushed all my buttons, I can't wait to read the next one! Batter up!!!
Great story Sloane!
**arc from NetGalley and Entangled in exchange for a fair review***

Some good moments sprinkled throughout but didn't do enough to captivate me

I really enjoyed this book. It was hot and steamy and very cute. I would defintely recommend this book!

This book was great from beginning to end. I love to see a female character that's strong & won't let an obnoxious male run all over her & that is Jenny. Ethan is very obnoxious at the beginning but as you get to know him, you find there's much more underneath the hot exterior. If you're looking for a sexy & entertaining story, this book is for you!

Love the title - it's got a great meaning. Jenny and Ethan are a hella-hot couple together. Sparks fly and the writing lifts right off the page, making it hard to put down this book. *fans herself* Kudos to the author and editor! I love Ethan's relationship with his best friend. It's real and believable. Just like my husband and his BFF from elementary school. Sometimes, in a dual point of view story, the voices aren't differentiated enough, but they are great in these chapters. I get a true sense of both characters and their motivations. Nice job! Highly recommend and can't wait to read more by this author.

I thought it was a great read and a page turner that had me hooked from page one to the final page. I loved that the book was centered around baseball as I love that sport myself so that was a bonus while reading the book. This book made me want to read more of Sloane Howell's past books and see if they live up to the potential that this book did. I did tear up at the end of the book just a bit though but it was a happy tear up.. not a sad one. I would recommend this book to anyone.

Note: I received a copy of this book via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
This was the first time I've read a book by Sloane Howell. Admittedly I had high expectations as Howell was compared to Lauren Layne, one of my all time favorite authors. It's hard to top LL in my opinion and unfortunately, I thought the comparison was a bit off base.
While Howell was able to hit on good banter and fun dialog (similar to LL), she missed the mark on the enemies-to-lovers part of this, which LL excels at.
Jenny and Ethan had great banter at the start. You couldn't help by smile and be pulled into the story. But that quickly fell apart as things went on. Ethan was a self professed "player" but within hours of meeting Jenny did a complete 180. It was hard to see him as a player when he would ask "how high" when Jenny told him to jump (metaphorically speaking). I was pretty disappointed by this.
I was able to get through the story and wasn't totally turned off. But if you're looking for a great enemies-to-lovers read, this definitely missed the mark.

3.5 Stars
I enjoyed Jenny and Ethan banter to the point of I was wondering how they will one up each other next. Their initial mrrting had me laughing so hard because she gave it to him like no other.
Something changed for me and I think it was Jenny in and out attitude. It was like she had trust issues that was never discussed in the book. Ethan, I understood his resistance but Jenny not so much. Don't get me wrong the book was still a good read but that part just had me baffled. I do look for more from this couple and their friends because I see promise there as well.
Sexy, fun, and a little heart breaking but overall a nice solid storyline.

Loved this book !!!! This was a fantastic quick an easy read for me. I literally devoured it in a matter of hours. From the get go I was hooked.
Jenny is rushing to an interview and runs into this arrogant, cocky asshole. Some banter and quick witted comebacks and spewed at each other and they go their separate ways. She makes it to her interview and sure enough that cocky asshole she has the run in with turns out to be her new boss.
First, let's start off by saying I love asshole characters, Ethan was moody, broody and sometimes deserved to be punched in the junk. Jenny was just the person to do that and it made for such an entertaining read. Between their verbal sparring and the sexual tension that was off the charts in this book we also had some very heart warming moments knowing why Jenny chose to work there.
Ethan will surprise you with his sweet secretive ways. When they do drop the gloves so to speak it ends up being a whole lotta HOT STEAMY MOMENTS that will have you thinking they will burn that office building down. I mean DAYUMMMM !!!!
There are also some secondary characters in this that I absolutely loved. Ethan's best friend Matt was hilarious at times, and completely awesome as was Jenny's best friend Kelsey. They both had me chuckling at times and provided some FUNNY AS HELL moments.
This story flowed from beginning to end for me. Funny in the right moments, tragic and sweet in others and had characters that you found yourself invested in from beginning to end. I would definitely recommend this to those looking for something that will have you hooked from the beginning to the very end.
I truly hope that we see a book about Matt and Kelsey. Hopefully together.
A 4.5 Star Read for me.

Dear Mr. Howell,
Yes, that’s right. I am writing a letter to you instead of a more traditional review. It’s unorthodox, but hey, it’s mine and I’ll write what I want to. *cue 80’s dance party music* I have been following your hilarious posts on Facebook for quite some time yet I had never picked up a book of yours. I am currently kicking myself for this oversight. Like hard enough that my grandkids will feel it some day.
Color me surprised when I saw Bossed on Netgalley a few weeks back. I thought, “Now is my chance to give your books a try.” I requested and shortly had it in my hands. The suspense of what it’s digital pages killed me enough that I snuck off into a quiet place at work and devoured every f-ing word. Your characters were charming and exhausting, but the humor is what hooked me. Well, that is until the ending broke my “non-emotional” flood gates.
Jenny became my spirit animal.
Like her, I struggled with my father’s illness and balancing my work life. Reading her fictional plight took me back to those long days of work and going to my parent’s or the hospital to relieve whoever had the day shift with Dad. That part. That amazingly emotional part of this story is what made me love this book. The humor, the angst, and the romance were all side boos to Jenny and her dad. Her story is so similar to countless others in real life right now.
Bossed is by far one of the best books I have ever read even if part of the plot line revolved around baseball. Sorry, but I’m a football girl at heart. My next letter will be a two-part apology for that and my love of pineapple on pizza.
To summarize this long-winded semi-review. Buy this book. You will not regret it. Just like I don’t regret ordering that Hawaiian pizza right now.
