Such a great story of place and time. You will gain understanding of 1930's California and a better understanding of the relations of Jewish immigrants and Nazi supporters. Well written novel.

A fascinating insight into the American silvershirts of the 1930s. Helen and her older sister Sarah are Jewish orphan immigrants, who have escaped the rise of fascism in Europe. Helen travels to join her sister's family in California and soon becomes embroiled in the ADL, working to protect American Jews. The silver shirts are Nazi supporters, working towards a Nazi America ruled by Hitler.
Having read quite widely about the blackshirts under Moseley, I was unaware of, and surprised to find, there was a similar organisation in the USA. Using historic factual events, the story follows the group's plans to create a holiday home for Hitler in California. Helen works as a spy, befriending members of the group in order to uncover their plans. Both thrilling and fascinating, the story follows Helen into the heart of the organisation and into certain danger.
Highly recommended for anyone interested in this period of history or anyone who enjoys a thrilling historic read.
