I'm always looking for new R&J rewrites/read-alikes to accompany our English 1 curriculum. This one would appeal to some students, but it's not one of my favorites of the many YA R&J rewrites that I've read.

I've started and put this book down several times. I feel like it had potential but I am not connecting with the story or the characters.

Interesting premise, will appeal to those who love YA with strong romantic interests. Who wouldn't want to be swept away in Paris? Page-turning, conversational tone with plenty of fashion-forward details. A new take on Shakespeare's classic.

Romeo, Juliet & Jim was a lot of fun. This book isn't deep, but sometimes lighthearted fun is what a reader needs. There was one point where I had a few tears, but that didn't spoil the book at all. It just added to it. I enjoyed the way the author used the original Romeo and Juliet story so blatantly. Well done.

I give the book four stars. I enjoyed reading the story and would recommend the book. One of reasons I requested the book is I like reinterpretations of classic stories. I find that with reinterpretations of a classic story. I find myself and others going back to the original story and reading it again or for some the first time. I really enjoyed how we got differently perspectives of the main characters, the modern setting, and the new extra character Jim. I am interested on how the story will end. One downside I find the character of Romeo weak and bland character compared to the rest of main characters. I hope to see huge character growth in the next book.
