Skye Martinez was looking for the perfect man. For her.
Being trapped in yet another blind date, she could not wait to get rid of another man who had not yet grown up emotionally.
Working in the family housekeeping company, company created by Skye's grandmother, she'd rather have to clean one of the rooms at the Briscoe Ranch Resort than to be there with Vince Biaggi.
When Skye's mother again hears her daughter complain about another horrible date, she decides to help by doing a little bit of "magic."
At the request, Skye asks everything she wants in a man.
A few days later, there would be a new event at the resort, the wedding of a country music producer's daughter. And one of the guests was exactly what Skye didn't want in a man.
And that's exactly why he was the perfect one!!
A contemporary romance with funny and light scenes, and showing that your Mr Right may be disguised as Mr Totally Wrong.

I really wanted to like this but I just couldn't see these two together. Skye and Gentry definitely did the steamy thing but an actual relationship didn't seem like it was in the cards to me based on their interactions. I read this as a standalone; I'd like to see what Cutler can do with others from the ranch, which is a good setting. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. This is a decent read that I suspect others will enjoy more than I did.

ONE WILD NIGHT by Melissa Cutler is the third book in her One and Only Texas Series, but can easily be read as a standalone novel. At Briscoe Ranch Resort we meet Skye who is desperate to shed her rebellious reputation and get over her disastrous choices from the past. Preparing to take over her family's portion of the business at the ranch, Skye has decided she wants to find a nice, kind, respectable man to share her life with - no more bad boys, this time it has to be forever. But when she meets a sexy stranger in the stables, what's wrong with having one more crazy night? After all, nothing more will ever come from it...
Gentry Wells has two different sides - the confident, boisterous, mega singing star persona, and the vulnerable, quieter side to him which yearns to be in control of his own career and use his own words to make an impact on people. Knowing that he is under pressure to deliver a huge hit album after his previous album flopped, Gentry takes a walk to the stables on the resort to get some peace and quiet but what he finds will change his world forever. Being with Skye blows his world apart and his creative spirit comes flaring back to life. But Skye wants forever and everyone knows his reputation for moving on. Can he convince her to take a chance on their wild connection?
ONE WILD NIGHT by Melissa Cutler is a sweet, sexy romance with plenty of sizzle and laughs along the way to make you smile. Well-paced, likeable characters, and a stunning Texas setting, all add together to make this story really enjoyable.

Everyone has a mask we present to the world. Sometimes it is a professional face on a day we are feeling anything but. Other times it is an attempt to meet expectations that are not our own. At is heart, One Wild Night, the newest installment in Melissa Cutler’s Briscoe Ranch / One and Only Texas series, is the story of two people’s struggle to reconcile what is expected of them and what makes them happy. Eventually, Skye and Gentry find that the right answer is sometimes a balance of the two. Those who have read the previous installments in the series will be delighted to see Granny June and Remedy back. New readers will warm quickly to the match-making octogenarian, one of my favorite characters in fiction. To make this novel extra special, Cutler wrote song lyrics for her country music superstar. The lyrics alone are worth the read; though there is no actual music I find myself humming “Well-Hung.” This novel was the perfect escape from a busy week. Sadly all I wanted to do was keep reading. I can't wait for the next installment in this series.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this novel.

Skye Martinez is the manager of her mother’s cleaning business. She has been married once, only for three months. She found him cheating on her in their trailer. Her ex appealed to her wild side and got her out of the small town where she grew up. Therefore, she decided to change what she’s looking for in a man. Since returning to her small town, she has gone out on lots of unsuccessful dates.
Gentry Wells is a burnt out, successful, country music star. His image is of a womanizing party boy, one that he has outgrown but still continues the façade. He doesn’t have the best track record with relationships so feels he’s doomed to crash and burn every time, so why start anything. He has been commanded to sing at his record company’s boss’s daughter’s rehearsal dinner and wedding. He is in a rut and has writer’s block.
These two meet when they are both trying to get away from the craziness of the wedding festivities. They spend a crazy, sex filled weekend together and then go their separate ways. They each continue to ruminate about said weekend in their heads until Gentry decides to make a surprise visit. The story was entirely too predictable and I didn’t really feel the connection between the two.
Loved the grannies! They definitely added some humor. Loved the members of the second band. Skye’s mom was annoying throughout the book. Skye’s need for her mother’s approval, even though she’s a grown woman, grates after a while.
This was not a memorable read. This is my second book by this author and I haven’t been impressed, so most likely my last.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC provided by NetGalley.

I really enjoyed this story. I really liked the two main characters, Gentry and Skye are very cute together. This book had some humorous moments but also some more dramatic moments. I am not sure that really worked here or not. Mostly when I want a funny story I don't want drama too, I am looking for more light read; conversly when I want a drama story I enjoy those light moments. This book definitely starts out light and so the drama was really very jarring and I did not love that. All in all I would say I found the writing enjoyable and I did like the characters.
This is also my first read by the author and I felt her writing style was enjoyable. I had no idea it was part of a series, so I definitely feel it stood alone. Some things to know before you read is that Skye is a hispanic heroine. Second she essentially is a maid or is maid service manager. I really was not liking this aspect of the story. Her big dream is to run the maid service company after her mother retires and well I just could not get into rooting for her when her big dream is to run a maids business and well the cleaning up vomit part pf the story, not what I call fun, though I think the author meant it to be funny. Another thing to know is while this is not a religious book, Catholicism is mentioned ALOT. And in some ways I thought it made light of a serious religion for some.
Second when she meets Gentry she KNOWS that he is a hotel guest. So it could mean she is fired. I mean her job was her life according to the book and yet she is willing to risk it all for this cute guy. Nothing else is special about Gentry at this point but she really eventually risks her job, her mothers company for this guy when she sees him as only casual. It just did not make sense.
I did really LOVE Natalie and Toby. I loved the wild night and I did enjoy Gentry and Skye's chemistry together and watching them get to know the other. But the whole mother finding me a husband and how he had to be catholic and local well that was a stretch for me to understand. The whole blessing her daughter to find a husband well it was probably meant to be funny but I found it just strange. And I LOVED the grandmother, she totally stole the scenes.

skye martínez is looking for the one. she wants marriage and babies and picket fences and love. and as much as she's looked everywhere for the one, all she has to show for it is an annulment--and the emotional scars of losing her baby and discovering her husband was a lousy cheat on the same day. so the one thing she thinks she can do without is passion. passion is what got her into her disastrous first marriage, and she's not about to repeat her mistakes.
except after a string of lousy dates, she's dying to feel a spark with someone. so when she encounters a mysterious stranger in the barn at the resort she works at she is intrigued. gentry wells, bad boy country music star, doesn't expect to meet up with anything interesting in his midnight visit to the stables. he just wanted to get away from the pressure of performing and the pressure of producing new material when nothing speaks to him. but with his presence required at his label exec's daughter's wedding, there's nowhere for him to go.
those stolen moments with skye somehow inspire him, the music and lyrics that had been just out of reach now can't get written quickly enough. and just when he's decided to track her down the day after their encounter in the stables, she crosses paths with him again. and when they both come across the bride and groom on the verge of calling the whole thing off, skye and gentry end up helping them run off to nashville for the wedding of their dreams. and maybe it's just that they get caught up in the excitement of helping someone elope, or maybe that's just the excuse they needed to succumb to the passion that they've felt spark between them since their midnight horseback ride.
gentry and skye come from different worlds, and skye is convinced that she just needed to get this extra bit of wildness out of her system. and then she can continue her search to find the perfect husband and future father of the children she so desperately wants. and she intends to hold strong, but gentry doesn't stay away. except this time their wild adventure ends in disaster.
it solidifies gentry's feelings for skye and his commitment to a future with her, while skye is running scared. she worries that he isn't serious enough, that he is too wild, that together they are too wild and that they could flame out and she could lose everything. and this loss would be worse than the loss she experienced four years ago. but gentry isn't giving up on skye. and he goes about winning over her nearest and dearest and proving that he means it when he tells her she is the one. and it's so romantic. the way skye and gentry connect is incredible, you know that they are dying to be in each other's arms whenever they are in the same space. and watching gentry woo skye is so sweet and emotional. and when they finally get on the same page, it's absolutely perfect.
i really loved this novel. skye and gentry's story was filled with the perfect mix of passion and emotional depth. they don't have an easy road of it, but all those bumps make their love and happy ending so worth it.

Gentry Wells, the perfect name for a country music star, is our sexy guy. Skye Martinez, rebellion heart with Catholic guilt, is our feisty leading lady. Stuck in their own reality these two have a chance meeting that leads to a wild night in Nashville, no strings and no future. Their path is crazy and emotional but tragedy loves a solid romance. Normally women tend to give up their lives for men, but not always. Gentry takes all the risks to prove she's everything to him. Set at the Briscoe Ranch this is the third book in the series, not necessary to read them all or in order. After reading an advanced copy through Netgalley I have voluntarily written this review.

This book is the third one of Ms Cutler’s series titled One and Only Texas.
I have to say I had mixed feelings about the story and the characters, and therefore was a little disappointed.
We are back in Briscoe Ranch this time with Syke’s and Gentry’s story. Yes there was lots of sex, but I felt disconnected to them and they also seemed disconnected between themselves.
For me, it was an ok book and one that I suspect will not be remembered in a few months. I missed the “ old Melissa Cutler”.
I was gifted this book by Netgalley. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

There was a lot I liked about this one. I loved the family feel and Skye works with many of her relatives and her mother and both grandmothers play important roles in the story. I enjoyed the grandmothers' hijinks and seeing the more serious relationship with her mother. I especially enjoyed the work type scenes. It always drives me crazy when a character has a specific job for a plot point and then after she finds the dead body (that'd be more of a mystery than a romance) or meets the guy or his mother or his dog - never goes to it again. Skye is warm and funny with a serious rebellious streak but also wants to settle down and make her parents proud of her.
I really loved Gentry. He's got this bad boy image that's more than a little created by management and he's kind of at a cross-roads professionally, creatively, and personally and at the start of the book comes off as a little lost and just plain sad. From the first run in with Skye it was fun to see the light kind of show back up in him. I loved the relationship between him and his band mate Nick and enjoyed the not always flattering commentary on the music industry. Plus, the man understands the meaning of the term "grand gesture" which is always an added bonus in a romance.
For the most part I enjoyed the conflict. It made sense that Skye wouldn't trust Gentry given her past and his reputation. It also made sense that Gentry isn't always the clearest on just what he wants in life since at the beginning of the book he seems so lost. There's also another conflict that is one I typically dislike the most but actually worked here which was a surprise. There were a number of issues that cropped up in the book but their reactions felt right and it was easy to believe that these people would react like that which is a big plus for me.
There were some things I didn't like. Skye's rebellious streak is very prominent and seems to head towards self-sabotage at times. I think it's not unrealistic but I didn't relate to her as much as I'd like because there were times I thought she was being super irresponsible and I wanted to shake her. At times the book felt slightly disjointed with some parts being almost slapstick and then at other times it strayed towards angsty.
Overall, this wasn't my favorite read of the year but it was an enjoyable. I love the setting the author has built up and am looking forward to reading more of the series. This is the 3rd in the One and Only Texas series but honestly I would have had no idea it wasn't a stand alone if Goodreads hadn't told me.

Skye Martinez is ready to settle down, get married and hopefully start a family. But first, she's determined to sow her wild oats one last time with a handsome stranger. Except Skye never took into account that she'd end up pregnant. Can Gentry convince Skye to take a chance on love, even when he's the total opposite of the man she imagined she'd end up with forever?
This is the first book I've read by Ms. Cutler, and I've got to say that I absolutely loved it. Right from the start, this book was captivating, fast-paced and one I found hard to put down because of the situation Skye finds herself in. Why can't dating be all fun, instead of a woman wanting to escape because her date is a dud? How will she get out of her date without sounding overly rude to the man she's with at the time? Will she finally tell her family that she's had enough of their meddling or will she continue to let her family help her find The One? However, it was the moment where the hero and heroine met where this story really drew me in, because Skye needs the distraction the hero offers her.
The dialogue was compelling, well-written and drew me in because of the banter between the main characters, all that they go through on their journey to happy ever after and their back stories. After what happened with the hero's latest music album, he can't afford distractions. Yet, it seems, the heroine is good for him. She becomes his muse, a way for him to re-connect with his love for music. However, the dialogue was also intense too, due to the obstacles these two face and the judgment the heroine faces from her family about her making poor decisions when it comes to relationships. Will Gentry be able to win Skye's family over? Will the hero be able to prove to Skye that he's the right guy for her?
As for the main characters, I loved the hero and heroine. Skye is endeavoring to exorcise her rebellious streak by having a good time with the hero. What they do for a couple that are likely to verbally snap at their families if they don't get away from them was admirable, and I couldn't wait to discover how the relationship between the hero and heroine would go from there. They both want different things out of life with Skye wanting to settle down and Gentry happy to continue being single, yet, they struggle to forget about the other or completely let them go.
Skye is strong, brave and I liked that she took a chance on Gentry when he's the complete opposite to the sort of guy she's looking to settle down with. Also, I liked how close she was with her family, and how they think they're helping her by picking out men they think she'll like. Except, the men are absolute duds in the way they're either complete momma boys or totally unsuitable for other reasons. While Gentry, he faces a lot of obstacles throughout this story such as whether he'll overcome his music writing block, whether he can convince Skye to give him a chance at happy ever after when he's the complete opposite of what she's looking for and the battle he faces with winning over her mother. I felt sorry for him when it came to dealing with his agent and Skye's mom, but I liked how his best friend supported him when needed.
Overall, Ms. Cutler has delivered a wonderful read filled with plenty of emotion, really good secondary characters and a fast-paced plot that entertained me from start to finish. The way this story ended was perfect, as Gentry would do whatever it takes to win Skye back. However, it was the epilogue that wrapped this story up the best, because I discovered whether Gentry bounced back to find success again with his music. I would recommend One Wild Night by Melissa Cutler, if you enjoy books by authors Jennifer Ryan, Cat Johnson or Donna Michaels.

This is the third book in the Briscoe ranch series and I just love it because you feel like you know these people personally. Skye Martinez has always been a wild girl but her very conservative family has a few ideas about that. Skye took off when she was younger and married a guy from the circus who cheated on her just when she found out she was pregnant. She came home to her family and lost the baby a few weeks later and she has been trying to go on the straight and narrow ever since but one night she can't take it and decides to go for a midnight ride where she meets Gentry who is there to play and sing at his managers daughters wedding.
Gentry has been in a slump and his last album failed so he is trying to find something to write about but when he meets Skye she is perfect because she treats him like he is just anybody. When Gentry talks her into letting him come for the ride his inspiration is at a peak and he can't wait to write to make a song out of his experience on the ride. When he realizes he needs to see Skye again he catches her discussing his underwear with her employees and asks to see her. When they realize they can just have fun together because they aren't going to get in a relationship but it's never that easy. My favorite character was Gentry even though you would think he is such a bad boy but there is a lot more to him than you think. I love all of the books in this series but they can be read as a standalone.

2.5 - "You can’t win em’ all." Stars.
One Wild Night takes readers back to the Briscoe Ranch Resort and its recurring characters for another visit. And although the third book in the authors One and Only Texas Series, it can absolutely be read as a standalone.
Two reckless, hungry souls looking for escape…
I have read a number of books by Melissa Cutler now, and I am going to blunt and say this book is the least favorite I have read by her, and by a long way. There were numerous things I noted that didn’t work for me, but you know you are on a hiding to nothing when you cannot bring yourself to really like or empathize with the lead characters or find any other words for the story-line apart from ‘ridiculous’ and ‘overcooked’.
All of the previous books in the series revolve around the Resort as does Skye and Gentry’s story in part, but the author seemed to step away from the path that she has followed with the previous couples in that these two didn’t really make sense together, the chemistry between them was non-existent, and there were parts of the story that just seemed to be added for effect rather than having any real relevance to the plot. I won’t go into detail but there is a scenario in the first half that takes place in a Nashville night club between our lovers that just left me cringing, then the second half just got even more extreme.
Granny June, kept me entertained in parts, but I can’t say this is a book I am going to remember with any fondness. I hope the author reverts back to the formula that was working so well with the previous books, if this series has any further additions, because it worked 100% better than the set-up in this one did.

One Wild Night by Melissa Cutler
One and Only Texas #3
Really enjoyed this book! It took me back to some of the wilder times of my own so I could, in many ways related to this story. I was the religious girl (not Catholic) told to be one way when I wanted to be another so felt with and understood where Skye Martinez was coming from. I have since outgrown my feelings and beliefs of those long gone years BUT if I had met a Gentry Wells who was a bad boy “changed”…well…suffice to say…this book resonated with me.
So, the story… Skye is in management of housekeeping at Briscoe Ranch Resort. Her family is all important to her and she is trying to live up to family expectations – social, professional and religious. She believes it is time to settle down with a “good” man an start a family…so…she is dating…a lot. Gentry is at the resort to play for a wedding. He is jaded, knows his songs are lackluster and he is in the process of reviving his career while playing a part he doesn’t feel fits him very well any more. One evening the two meet in the resort barn while taking a time out from life. They go for a ride, become involved in a couple’s elopement, spend a wild weekend together and then part. They do meet up again later and there are twists, turns and surprises aplenty. The chemistry is hot between them but there is also a lot of understanding and caring from Gentry for Skye. Skye takes a bit longer to come around but their eventual HEA was fun to observe. The supporting cast was great. The grannies were entertaining. Friends from previous books made an appearance. And…I would love to hear more about musicians Nick and Logan, I wonder if Skye’s sister Gloria will find a HEA in a future book, and I also am eager to find out what will happen next at the resort.
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC. This is my honest review.
5 Stars

Skye is a wild child at heart and would love nothing more then to find the "right guy." But it seems that what she thinks she wants and what she may really want are so far off that when she gets a chance at one wild night she begins to question everything. She also wonders is the spell her mom put on her is more of a curse then something to help her in her search for love. Gentry is happy with his life the way things are, all expect the fact he can't for the life of him write a song and he has a month to write a whole cd. When he meets Skye at a wedding he spends 5 minutes with her and he knows he needs to get to know "more" of her. Will they both be able to figure out what they want or will it be to late for one or both of them?
I will first start off by saying I have not read any of the other books in the series and it was still fun to catch up with all the characters. I really enjoyed Mama Lita and Grandma June in the story, they seemed to add a huge element to the book and their antics will keep you laughing through out the whole book. I felt like at the beginning of the book it started off all over the place and kind of thrown off at first, then the storyline quickly grabs your attention and sucks you in. There where a ton of heartfelt moments through out the book, as well as some super steamy, simmering hot moments as well. This book has a ton of strong language and strong adult scenes through out so this book may not be for everyone. I can't wait to read more for this series of books such a fun read and had a hard time putting it down, so worth the read.

I received this from NetGalley to read and review. The book is well written and interesting, but it is really a pure “chick lit” book. Skye is ready to take over the family business. In addition, Skye is ready to change a lot about herself. She wants to settle down with a kind, gentle, Catholic man and build a family, which is exactly what her mother wants. Gentry is the bad boy of country music and definitely not a man who is ready to settle down with one woman and build a life. When the pair meets up and spends a wild weekend night together, strange events result. There are some not too unusual twists that develop in their relationship, which I found a bit of a distraction and made me question whether I wanted to continue with the story. Since they are spoilers, I will not go into them, but I will tell you to be prepared for some interesting, though, as I said, not terribly unique, twists in the story. The premise of the story was interesting, though there was little else other than boy meets girl (or vice versa), and a relationship, filled with some not too unusual twists and turns, develops. I have not read any of the other books in the series, but this read as a stand-alone. The story line moved along fairly smoothly. There was definite chemistry between Skye and Gentry. The plot was okay, just not too inventive. As I said, this is a good, chick lit story and will appeal to the reader who enjoys these.

Skye and Gentry were hot hot hot in this book. Skye is trying her hardest to not take risks anymore and become who she thinks she needs to be to take over the business. Gentry is a country music star who has lost his ability to write a great song. At least he was until he happened upon Skye one night and she became his muse. But Skye can't be that risky girl anymore, no matter how much she wants to be. But combine sex, love, and an accident, they both learn what really matters.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book provided by NetGalley.

Though it is the third book in One and Only Texas series, it can still be read as stand-alone. It was an interesting read with humour and romance

‘One Wild Night’ is as the title suggests: the accidental meeting of 2 strangers at different crossroads of their lives, who then decide to have a weekend fling and then say goodbye. A country music has been, strung around for years to keep up his reputation and raunchy songs with the manager of Briscoe Ranch’s housekeeping whose bad girl is straining at the leash as she battles the values instilled in her from the very beginning—it’s pretty much an unlikely pairing to survive if not for a crisis that happens to turn things around.
This is the sort of read that puts me at a loss for review, particularly when it felt like characters who were doing the wrong things (or sometimes the so-called ‘right’ things) for all the wrong reasons. The accident—a major turning point—suddenly gave Gentry a 180-degree turn from a man who was convinced that he was a commitment-phobe to the other extreme where he found himself going to convert to Catholicism (because it was one of the terms and conditions that Skye had laid out) and become the stable man Skye always wanted. It’d taken life as he knew it away, flipped that mental switch and I disliked how this new Gentry only emerged because the accident gave him no option but to reevaluate what he’d been doing; essentially, I doubted that he would have ever voluntarily chosen the kind of lifestyle that Skye was ultimately looking for or prioritising her because his flagging career came first. Yet the excuses simply vanished with his finger and his sudden transformation kept me in continual disbelief throughout. For Skye, unable to shrug off her religious upbringing, kept thinking of every bad thing happening as heavenly punishment that was meted out to her with the accident had me grimacing, even as she swung from one emotion to another that made her indecisive about what she really wanted.
I’d be the first to say that the kind of religious guilt present throughout made me uneasy...as it was probably meant to be. That it’d resulted in the self-indulgent and sometimes irrational, immature behaviour of the characters—while providing the impetus for dictating directly and indirectly how both Gentry and Skye behaved however—was thoroughly frustrating. Gentry/Skye as a result, didn’t exactly appeal to me, as their relationship simple seemed overshadowed by Skye’s religious convictions (yet contrary behaviour) and Gentry’s seeming inability to do what he really wanted but never managing it until the accident pushed him into it.
The One and Only Texas series has so far, a hit or miss for me. Unfortunately, I think I should have given this one a pass.

Two connect and have major life changes while they are figuring everything out...
