M'eh! It was OK, but I wasn''t a big fan of the writing style and it was all a bit superman meets macho man meets mission impossible for me. The plot got increasingly bonkers as the book went on - I'm all for suspending reality, but this was just too unlikely for me,

Fantastic read-- I thought I knew what was happening, but I was definitely wrong-- absolutely worth the read!

In the beginning nothing is as it seems. As characters become more transparent we see motivations and frailties but I never really connected to 'Chris's relationships. They seemed shallow yet his 'voice' was all in

One Perfect Lie by Lisa Scottoline is told from different perspectives. With an unreliable narrator, the story keeps the reader guessing and was an entertaining book to read. A new teacher comes to the high school under suspicious circumstances. A race is on to stop a bombing set to coincide with the Oklahoma City bombing. However, the book was a little unbelievable at times, which is the reason I would give it four stars. I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for my honest review.

LOVED this book!!! Lisa Scottoline is a master at crafting a book that will pull you in from page one and keep you guessing until the very end. There were many wonderful twists and turns in this book...it was a very enjoyable read!

This book was really good, a true fast paced roller coaster of a ride and once i started i didn't want to put it down, Its starts with the main character Chris Brennan getting a job at a small country school as the substitute politics teacher and assistant coach to the baseball team, it all seems innocent enough, but why does Chris have a good knowledge of homemade bombs and guns? its been superbly written and just when you think you've worked it out, it twists to another theory, a book that could spawn several prequels and sequels. Thank you NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read this book.

I really like this author and was excited to get an ARC of her new book. It did not disappoint!
Something is going down at a high school, but we don't know what just yet. There's a new teacher, Chris, who is also coaching baseball. I admit, at first I wasn't sure what he was up to. And I liked that I didn't figure it out right away.
I won't give plot details, but there's a mystery to be solved, and I didn't figure it out on my own, which is a big thumbs up to the author!
Loved how well developed the characters were, and how each one had a "story".
Great read!
Thank you to Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for allowing me an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!

Great book. I couldn't put it down. Spoiler: I really couldn't get to like Chris in the first part but I know there had to be more to it. I was so relieved when he turned out to be a good guy after all.

This was different to what I expected, however was very well written, and althoughit takes a while before you identify with the characters and what roles they are playng in the story it's a good read!

Always enjoy the work of Lisa Scottaline...this book is no exception, Have recommended it to all three of my local libraries.

When I first decided to read One Perfect Lie by Lisa Scottoline, I thought it would be a psychological thriller. The blurb spoke about secrets and lies which are two things that I like in my thrillers. The story begins with Chris at the new school. He has impeccable references although from the start, we are told that everything about him is a lie. Hints are dropped throughout the first chapters that indicate that Chris is hiding a secret about his identity and why he has moved to the town and in particular, the new school. I was immediately hooked to the story and couldn’t wait to find out the truth about his secrets. Why was he there? What was he hiding? And most importantly, who is Chris?
However, the storyline shifted after a few chapters. I can’t say more about this because I don’t want to spoil it for anyone who hasn’t read it yet and honestly, I think it is better if you read the book with minimal prior knowledge about the plot. The shift that I am alluding to was one of the main twists in the book. I was able to predict the rest of the twists from then on although this didn’t affect my reading experience.
Although lies and deceit seem to be the main themes in this story, there are other themes that emerge through the sub-plots. There is loss and mourning, infidelity, family and peer pressure. I liked the background stories for the three mothers the most. Each woman had a different personal struggle that they were trying to sort out as they also tried to do the best for their teenage sons and deal with all the other drama going on in the town.
Writing this review was a bit difficult for me. I can’t say much about the plotline because as I mentioned, that would ruin the experience for those who haven’t read the book. My main issue with the story occurred after the first twist. The story until the twist was my kind of book. The turn it took was something else; it’s a direction that I don’t really like in thrillers. Nevertheless, the book was well-written that I found myself hooked to the story until the last page. So did I like the book? Well, I liked it but I would have loved it if it had taken that different direction.
If you are looking for a suburban crime/domestic thriller then I think that you will enjoy this book. If you like books about lies, deceit and some hint of romance then this will be perfect for you. The less you know about the plotline, the better your reading experience will be. If you can avoid reading the blurb on goodreads(I edited it for this review, leaving out the clues) then I would advise that you do that. I was actually able to guess one of the twists in the book just by reading the blurb. I have heard great things about Lisa Scottoline and I did like her writing so I can’t wait to read her other books.

This was a disappointing read. Usually her books are top notch but this one missed that mark by a mile. The ending reads like something you'd find in a fairy tale. Not her best

One Perfect Lie is set within a high school in a small town. The highs and lows of teenage life are well depicted and the relationships between staff members themselves and between staff and students form an integral part of the story. Approximately one third of the way into the book, there is a surprising twist, which alters the reader's expectations and allegiances completely. There are further surprising revelations and sub plots throughout the book which keep the reader guessing right to the end. A gripping read. Thanks to St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for the ARC.

Right from the beginning of One Perfect Lie by Lisa Scottoline, I had an uneasy feeling about new school teacher Chris Brennan. I had so many questions at the beginning, Who is this Chris Brennan? Why is he is interested in these boys? Why is he trying to turn the boys against themselves and gain their trust? I didn’t like the way the story was going. He was stalking a couple of students and now tries to befriend them. The three boys from the base ball team, Raz, Justin and Evan are his main focus. Chris Brennan is definitely not who the other teachers think he is. Will he be able to keep up his charade to complete the steps of his plan??
Raz, Evan and Justin are friends on the high school baseball team. Raz is impulsive and a bit of a live wire. His father died within the last year. His mother, Susan is struggling to keep her family together and understand her sons. Then you have Heather, single mom and her son, Justin. Justin is a sweet young man. Heather tires so hard to keep her son in his school and maintain a home life for Justin. She works very hard to provide what little she can for her little family. Finally, we have Mindy, everyone thinks she has it all. The wife of a surgeon with a very popular son, Evan. Life isn’t always what is seems. What possibly could be going on in this nice little suburban town?
My uneasy feelings about Chris Brennan change about 1/2 through the book as the twists in the story start to be revealed. Secrets are revealed, crimes are realized, and everything comes together with a sense of urgency. Once it starts to unravel you will not be able to put down, One Perfect Lie by Lisa Scottoline. I found myself actually holding my breathe. For me, One Perfect Lie was slow to grab my attention, but had me as the action began. As always, I think I will just read a few chapters with my morning coffee before going to work. ARGH!! Lisa Scottoline, you got me, I couldn’t put One Perfect Lie down and arrived at work later than planned!
This is my first time reading a book by Lisa Scottoline. I have already loaded Most Wanted onto my kindle! I give One Perfect Lie by Lisa Scottoline 4 stars. Any book that makes me late for work gets a 4 out of 5 rating from me! If you are a fan of Jodi Picoult, I think you will really enjoy One Prefect Lie by Lisa Scottoline.

I received this book free of charge from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
A great book that starts out with you thinking about the main character one way and you find out that what you thought was not true. Was his whole life built on a lie? What is he really doing in this small Pennsylvania town? I don't want to give away anything but it is well worth reading.

A great suspense thriller with a I'plot that's different than any I've read lately. A great page turner.

Central Valley High School has a new baseball coach. Chris Brennan was hired to teach Government and be an assistant coach on the baseball team. The kids take to him right away, but he seems to be paying special attention to just a few of the kids. Jordan is the only child of a single mom, Evan is the spoiled son of a wealthy family, and Raz just lost his father to cancer. All three boys have good reason to seek out a father figure like Chris. But Chris is hiding some pretty big secrets that could put tall of them in jeopardy. He is not who he says he is. He is hiding a secret that will turn the small school upside down if it is revealed. What is Chris's secret and what will happen to the small community when Chris's real identity is revealed.
One Perfect Lie was a fast-paced mystery novel. The author did a great job of keeping the reader in the dark regarding Chris's secret. I really didn't know where the story was going, but then when the secret was revealed it made complete sense. The other characters in the book were interesting, but not like Chris. I think Evan's mom was the most interesting to me. She was not about to sit by when she thought her spoiled son had done wrong and I liked her fesitiness. Once Chris's secret is revealed the book seemed to race to a conclusion that wrapped things up nicely. -- CLICK HERE FOR SPOILERS
Bottom line - Lisa Scottoline is a master at her craft. Whether it is a legal thriller, a book of essays written with her daughter, or a stand-alone mystery, she knows how to craft a story that will keep the reader engaged right up to the very last page.

This is one of those page turners, you just had to find out who was the bad guy. The way the beginning was written I thought Chris the main character was the bad guy but the more you keep on reading things are not as they appear. In this day and age this is about something that could really happen but you hope never will. Lisa Scottoline is a very versatile writer and I enjoy the funny as well as the suspense.

One Perfect Lie" is definitely going to be one of the most talked about books for the next little while. I started reading this on the airplane today and I was so immersed in the plot that I didn't even realize that we were experiencing turbulence( well, I almost didn't). Suffice it to say, this just might be my all time favorite Lisa Scottoline book, but to be fair I haven't read many of her books.
I know that it is going to seem like I am being secretive about the plot, but the less you know about it, the more the story is going to screw with your head. Correction, the more the main story will mess with your head- the family drama stuff was a bit over the top( Mindy drove me bananas!!!). A real page turner!

In her latest offering, ONE PERFECT LIE, Lisa Scottoline juggles a large cast of characters deftly and doles out clues to what is really going on in a measured and judicious manner. More important, she recognizes the complexity of the town of Central Valley and its residents.
In previous books she has demonstrated her skill at creating strong characters as well as building drama and conflict but in this particular instance she has outdone herself. This review will be sort of generic since to present too much of the story involving a good looking midyear replacement teacher named Chris Brennan and the threat of home grown domestic terrorism would ruin the abundant surprises in store for potential readers.
There is more than one lie being perpetrated in this tale of small town America and most of the characters are not who they appear to be at first glance.
If this book does anything it really gets the reader thinking about their own town, their own friends and family and leads us to question how much we truly know about anyone.
