Willa is pretty much making it a point when she doesn't make any close relationships with anyone in town, making herself seems like a loner. Then there is Derek the small down sheriff who is helping out a at risk preteen that reminds him of himself. Will is not even up to having a relationship and what the teen and Derek has makes her a bit skittsh.
I liked this book. I thought it was nice and enjoyable read. I loved seeing that connection between the two and finding out why Willa has that bit of close off part of herself from others. It was sweet seeing Derek working on the teen rather then just writing the child off and not caring. Instead Derek makes himself a sort of mentor for the child who hasn't exactly had the best guidance. If you are looking for clean romance then this book might appeal to you. I loved getting both point of views when it came to the two main characters. The story was well written and overall pretty good.

What a sweet and adorable story that touches all the right spots to get the feelings flowing. I was not expecting the emotional impact the story had on me. While the fun parts brought a big smile on my face, the delightful 'family dates' had me swooning, there are some serious issues that the characters deal with, and those brought tears to my eyes.
Derek Neel is the ultimate hero. The bad boy turned into a good, by-the-book sheriff with the looks of an angel. He loves animals, children, and his sense of protecting his own is beyond any measure. He is not afraid of feelings, commitment, or waiting for Willa to get to the same page as he is when it comes to the romantic feelings he has for her.
Willa Holmes is a hardworking baker, she is loyal, kind, and shielding away from people. She would prefer to keep the emotional distance to everyone, especially to the town sheriff, who awakens all the feels inside her, that she wished would have never surfaced again.
I loved Derek and Willa together. The chemistry between them was just so warm, captivating, sexy, and right. With Willa's past, the road they have ahead of them isn't easy or without roadblocks, but the patience Derek has when it comes to her, and the determination Willa have when it comes to their possibilities of the future gives them hope for it all working out.
Lots of small town feelings, delightful pastry moments, friends for life who will stand up for each other, and town folks who loves to meddle in everyone's business. When you add the sparks flying around the handsome sheriff and intriguing baker, a little boy who needs solid guidance and a safe home, a grieving mother, and a hungry black bear you start to get the picture of the deliciously tender tale.

A quick read that has all the right "feels". I loved Derek and how very patient he was with Willa - and Gilberto- what a sweetheart .

This was so sweet I think I can feel my teeth rotting. It was absolutely delightful, though; the story of Willa, a top pastry chef who has moved to a quiet town to try and rebuild her life after a tragedy that shattered her entire world, and Derek, the hunky sheriff who falls for her at first sight but has the wisdom and patience to wait until she's ready to move on.
This is a beautiful example of a slow-burn romance; nothing happens quickly, because Willa is very clearly not ready for fast. Yet, it's obvious from the beginning of the story that the two of them are well-suited for each other, most obviously in their care and concern for Gilberto, a neglected kid who ends up bringing the two of them together in a most unexpected way.
The final reveal of Willa's tragic past brought tears to my eyes; it was beautifully handled, and the way she finally was able to put it past her and move on was sensitively and believably written.
This book is a lovely piece of fluff with a bittersweet core that will make you run the gamut of emotions. Delightful.
5 stars.

KISS ME, SHERIFF is a beautifully fragile love story that will well your tears and warm you heart!
I don’t think I can adequately express how amazing and wonderful Derek and Willa’s story is. On the outside, Willa is cheerful and friendly and a great addition to the town of Thunder Ridge but on the inside, she’s suffering some deep emotional hurts. Willa is trying to keep everyone at arm’s length but finds it awful hard to do so when the sheriff’s sexy smile and kind eyes reawaken all sorts of feelings. Feelings she is not deserving of, and is desperately afraid of.
Derek is the sheriff of Thunder Ridge and has his sights set on Willa. He’s breaking all his own rules in pursuit of the lovely red-head but he can’t seem to help himself. He knows Willa is the one for him, now he’s just got to convince her of that fact. Easier said than done!
Willa is a remarkable heroine. She’s easy to relate to and deeply empathize with. But what won this book over for me was Derek. He is the ultimate contemporary romance hero. He is kind, loyal, faithful, caring, strong and has a heart of solid gold! I fell in love with Derek many times during the story. When you think he couldn’t get any better, he does something magnanimous and you’re instantly enchanted all over again.
The story was magical. The romance, heartbreakingly beautiful. I had tears streaming down my face more than once! And it’s not just a romance. It’s about learning to love in all forms. It’s about taking chances. Chances on a kid nobody wants. Chances on a woman that can’t trust. And chances on a man to not break what’s left of your heart.
10 Stars for this lovingly-crafted story!
