I really wasn't a huge fan of this one.

Aubree was overbearing, annoying, and just loved breaking personal boundaries after being told no. Which is just, rude. Parker was, on the other hand, a likable character. I felt bad for the guy really, everyone in this town seemed to know what he wanted and needed better than he did. If this had been me I would be a bit slap happy.

But whatever, it all turns out great in the end.

I just love stories about a second chances...this one more so because of the depth of the characters with their unique personalities coming through very succinctly. Parker and Aubree's struggles, frustrations, sorrows, desires, joys, and unbridled happiness were the heartbeat of the story, made all that more poignant because of their history and passion for each other.

The message about PTSD is told is such a fashion that your heart breaks for Parker's pain, but sighs with Aubree's ability and tenderness in reaching him and providing the calm he needs.

The lightheartedness came through the quirky town residents and their love and caring for Parker and Aubree..the fake marriage and pregnancy creating a feeding frenzy amongst the town was hilarious...Aubree's feeding the gossip machine in order to eat bridal cake samples and try on wedding gowns was priceless. I hated the story to end, I enjoyed the characters that much.

I read an advanced copy of this book. I loved it. Great read. Only issue was spacing between words that would be fixed with the final release. Love this author and will read more from her..

Still in Love With You by Lexie Davis

My Rating: 2/5 stars
My Review:

When you read a lot of books, 100+ each year, it takes a special book to stand out in the crowd, to be remembered. Unfortunately, Lexie Davis’s Still in Love With You isn’t one of those special standouts.

Aubree Manning has spent the past decade building a life for herself in Dallas. She’s successful and confident and so not looking forward to being back in her super-small hometown, but her father has called her home and there’s nothing she wouldn’t do for her father. Coming home means not only facing the town gossips, but facing the man she left behind a decade ago. The one man in the entire world who can shake Aubree’s confidence to her very core.

The second she sets foot in town, Parker Montgomery has Aubree arrested for driving his car into the lake a full decade ago. He’s clearly still a bit angry over their parting and wants everyone to know he doesn’t give a damn about Aubree. Problem is, everyone, including his family, her family, the town gossips, and his girlfriend knows he still gives a damn. With only ten days to two weeks tops to convince Aubree to remain with him and abandon her life in Dallas, Parker has his work cut out for him. As she’s always been, Aubree is stubborn and headstrong and convincing her to give up her posh life for small town living isn’t going to be easy.

Except for her current situation, Aubree has never known real strife in her life. She’s a hard worker and has earned everything she has, but she is also quite naïve. Being arrested by her ex-boyfriend is just funny and egging on the town gossips about her return to town is just plain fun. Being home and bailing her family out of financial ruin isn’t her idea of a good time so to work off the frustration, she starts showing up at Parker’s fixer-upper and putting her talents and bank account to good use. She can’t deny being near Parker again feels good, but his past is far darker than hers and helping him overcome that past isn’t going to be easy. She’s willing to help and she wants an HEA with Parker, but there’s going to have to be some compromising on both sides.

The Bottom Line: From start to finish, this story is just awkward. The most awkward bits include:
1) The excuse for getting Aubree home is certainly sweet, but terribly weak and somewhat unreasonable. Aubree has a seemingly good and strong relationship with her family so not coming home for a decade really doesn’t make sense especially given the fact she lives within four hours of her hometown.

2) While I am generally a fan of history and backstory and seeing those things play out in the present, it simply doesn’t work here. There isn’t a cohesion between the past and present in this read which makes it awkward, at best.

3) Each scene with Parker’s girlfriend is completely wasted in this read, extraneous detail that adds nothing to the overall plot. The worst of the scenes is the outburst in the hardware store. Really???

4) Finally, there’s the way everyone treats Parker. Rather than helping him, everyone treats him as if he’s broken and about to fall to pieces at any moment. Even his own father keeps big secrets from him rather than treating him like the adult he is.

While I wouldn’t call Still in Love With You a bad read, I also wouldn’t call it a good read either. Aubree and Parker are both OK characters with nothing remarkable about either to make them stand out among the romance genre crowd. The same can be said for the read overall, it’s OK, but not a book that is going to stand out among the considerable offerings in this genre.

Great characters that are truly endearing and that you will fall for immediately. Parker and Aubree have amazing chemistry and an interesting past with one another. I LOVE books with the small town environment and busybody town folk. Even though the towns people are not all fleshed out they are a really fun and heartwarming entity as a whole. I am a huge fan of books that jump right into the story and don't waste too much time with a long set-up. This book nails that and grabbed my attention even before I had reached the bottom of the first page. The ensuing encounters between Parker and Aubree were so well done and I just loved how she jumped into his life (and home). The only thing that held a few stars back from me on this one was that I wish there would have been A) a bit more conflict and B) that I felt like there wasn't a whole lot of buttoning up at the end in regards to how they were going to make things work with her career and whatnot. Otherwise the love scenes were passionate and there were several laugh out loud moments. I would for sure look for more books by this author.

Still In Love With You
Lexie Davis

A cute story about the sheriff and his high school sweetheart.
Aubree and Parker were high school sweethearts. Aubree was a wild child that wasn't ready to settle down. And Parker was ready for marriage and babies way too young.
It's been 10 years since Aubree had been home to visit. In those 10 years Parker had gone off to the Army and spent 4 tours and came back a different man. He's now the Sherriff of their small town.
Both Aubree and Parker are very open with their feelings towards each other. And their romance rekindled as soon as Aubree entered town. All starting with Parker arresting her and slapping the handcuffs on.
Cute story. Super easy read to pass the time away. Not much of an ending to the book. She definitely could have drawn the story out just a little more.
Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.

Emotionally engaging book, I would definitely recommend this book.

I liked this book and I thought both Parker and Aubrey were very likable characters although I will say I didn't like the way Aubrey not only let the gossips go on about "the wedding" but played along knowing that Parker had a girlfriend. That had me on the edge of not liking her but the farther we got along in the story the more I liked her. I liked the banter between Parker and Aubrey and I loved how comfortable they were together. I thought they dealt with the PTSD issue pretty well and I also liked that there were no easy answers for them. Aubrey wasn't expected to just give up her career and Parker wasn't expected to just up and move for her. It was two people who loved each other and who have to find ways to fight to be together. There were a few unrealistic moments in the book but it didn't take me so far out of the reading pleasure that it truly bothered me. There were definitely some loose strings at the end that didn't wrap up neatly but I never doubted that Aubrey and Parker would make it work.

Overall an enjoyable and humorous romance.

I absolutely enjoyed reading it. I was satisfied with the content. Great novel. Thanks for letting me read it. Exceeded my expectations from the excerpt:)

I liked the H, Parker, but I could've been good without the h, Aubree, to be honest. He lives in their small hometown and has to deal with the residents especially as the sheriff. She's visiting for the first time in 10 years and leads the town's crazy women into thinking she and Parker are going to get married. It's a little over the top and doesn't make sense. I think the author tried to make her likeable but I just didn't care for her. When she's explaining why she didn't come visit when Parker came home from the war I wanted to kick her in the butt. She came across as immature and selfish to me. But maybe that's just me.

Aubree has to return to her small town of Prospect TX, the place she escaped from to make a real life for herself but returning is bittersweet, she grew up during the 10yrs she was gone, but also left the love of her life.
Parker, the Sheriff of Prospect felt justified in arresting Aubree for her rolling his Camaro into a lake 10yrs ago before she left to Dallas and also for breaking his heart (he'd never admit that though).
Now the old ladies (and town gossips) have gotten word that she's back and immediately start planning a wedding that they think is going to happen, even though they both say it is now happening, even though they have both insisted it's not.

Every character in this book is well developed and easy to believe. The author brings this book to life and you can easily picture the town of Prospect. Even though there is a lot of history between Aubree and Parker, you find yourself rooting for them to find their way back to each other. It's funny, heart breaking, hopeful and believable. I look forward to reading other books by this author.

STILL IN LOVE WITH YOU is second chance at love, one of my favorites genres. It is charming, sweet and light and although there are some emotional issues discussed, it never weighs the story down. Parker Montgomery and Aubree Manning meet again after ten year and realize they still have strong feelings for each other.

Parker and Aubree were high school sweethearts but broke up when Aubree left town. After Aubree left, Parker joined the military and now he is the town sheriff. Unfortunately, the four terms Parker served overseas, took its toll on him and he still suffers from PTSD.

Aubree left Prospect, Texas ten years ago and is now a successful financial adviser living in Dallas. She is tough and outspoken and her mouth usually gets her trouble. It is funny how she unintentionally starts rumors about herself.

Everyone in this small town is meddling and trying to get Parker and Aubree back together, except Parker's current girlfriend. Can Parker and Aubree overcome all the obstacles keeping them apart? They each have insecurities and issues yet, when they are together, they are stronger and bring out the best in each other. I liked this sweet and funny story but I have it admit, there were times the story did not seem believable or realistic. As an example, I found it hard to believe Parker, an alpha male, did not mind when Aubree buys him all new appliances for his house, without first asking him. At times, this story is silly and there is plenty of gossip going on with all the busybodies in small town Prospect, Texas.

Still in Love With You by Lexie Davis is a romance that tugged at my heart, made me die with laughter, and had me falling in love. A military man struggling with after war terrors on his own and a woman from his past spinning his life even more out of control. Parker thought he was tough enough to handle life alone, until his old love came back to town. Aubree thought she could come home and not fall madly in love with her old flame, Parker. But spending time with him, has gotten under her skin as well as his. Neither own can deny their attraction. This sweet southern tale, has a lot of bumps but soon finds a smoothness tha works. It's only time before both explode or completely fall apart. I loved the emotional attachment that came from reading this book. Lexie Davis knew what she was planning when she wrote this novel. I can't forget the charcaters and their dilemmas as well as their love. Broken hearts being mended and forgiven is the best kind of story. Overall, I highly recommend Still in Love With You to readers worldwide.

I was drawn to this book by it's blurb. This is the first book by this author that I have read and I am glad that I had the chance to read it. I loved the wit in this book. I found myself laughing out loud at times. I really liked Aubrey and Parker. I loved how he arrests her as soon as she steps back into town. It did have some more serious times in the book which really made it feel more real and I really enjoyed that.

This book grabbed me from the beginning and I could not put it down. I am looking forward to reading more from this author.

I really enjoyed this second chance romance story. They are the perfect couple.

This book was far more emotional than I thought it was going to be. The heart of the book was a major plus. I greatly enjoyed the snark and banter between Aubree and Parker! I laughed out loud at a few moments. However, the speed in which Aubree and Parker get back together was a little annoying. I can look past it though. I highly recommend this quick romance!

This book started off strong. It captured my interest instantly with Parker's anger at Aubree from their previous relationship. When she comes back in to town ten years later he arrests her immediately. However, it soon becomes clear that the anger lingering between them isn't the only thing. As old feelings resurface the character have to overcome a number of problems if they're to be together again.

One thing I really enjoyed about this book was Aubree's personality. I loved how she teased Parker and the banter that was created. While she clearly cared, I liked her need to tease and wind up the gossips.

However, while this book started strong, it did get weaker the further the story developed. More strands were introduced and in my opinion it became too many. There wasn't a clear story arc in the end. Were Aubree and parker trying to overcome their past and issues with their relationship, or were Parker's battles the main focus? Neither one outweighed the other and neither were developed in its entirety. One story line seemed to take over from the previous one without getting a proper ending.

I don't know, for me things fizzled out in the end. It was a shame really because I was enjoying this book. To me it felt like the author didn't know how to end things and I was left with a lot of questions--for example, what happened to Parker's dad's story line?

Anyway, overall the majority of the book was good. While it was let down by the ending, I still felt it was an easy read.

This was my first Lexie Davis book and it certainly won't be my last. I really enjoyed this sweet yet sometimes difficult second chance love story. It was at times funny, flirty and sexy but other times very serious as it dealt with some real life issues. It was quite the mixture of emotions for me. I laughed, cried, even got angry; but in the end it was all good.
Parker who was in the army for 8 years lives back home in his small hometown and he is the sheriff there. He is quietly suffering from PTSD.
Aubrey left town, and Parker, years ago to make something of herself and now lives in Dallas.
Neither of them has ever really and truly gotten over the other one so you can imagine what happens when she is suddenly back in town. Or can you? Aubrey's parting gift to Parker before she left was not exactly nice so the first thing he does when he sees her is slap some handcuffs on her and bring her to the station.
Some pretty funny things happen from there. This is a small town after all.

This book was a rollercoaster of emotions but a wonderful story of two people who were meant for each other.

Still In Love With You,  Lexie Davis

Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews

Genre:  romance,

*Sigh...* I hate it when this happens. I liked the sound of this, it had some good reviews so I requested, started reading and...its just doesn’t work for me :-(

What was good was the humour, some snappy witty fun.
I liked Aubree’s work ethic, her love for her family and understood her need to get away after what transpired ten years back.
Parker I liked too, a good man, very caring about others and yet haunted by his past, by his PTSD. He had a very caring family too, though I didn’t understand why he wasn’t close to his step mum and step/half sisters – I’m not sure which they were, it wasn’t clear. He works hard at his job, knows everyone in the town and commands respect.

So far so good, but I didn’t find it plausible in the week they had together that so much could happen, that her clients could supply all that kitchen equipment to arrive the next day, and clearly done by phone or internet. It certainly can’t happen like that in UK, and I’m sure US can’t be that far off.
I didn’t think Parker would accept all that either, he seemed quite a proud man and the excuse of being best friends as well as lovers ten years and more past didn’t really mean for me he’d be happy about that.
Likewise how quickly they got the renovations done, having done some myself in the past it just isn’t possible – I know his home is small but it would need to be doll house size!!
Then his salary, are sheriffs really paid so little? It sounded as if he was on the minimum possible to just scrape by, yet with his forces training he ought to have been higher paid. Maybe its just that US/UK difference again, our policing works very differently and someone with his past and skills would be far better salaried.

I found the town gossips and the way Aubree let things run was a bit strange, funny at first but to keep playing along? Again for me that didn’t sit well, and especially knowing Parker has been in a relationship for a year and his girlfriend isn’t happy about it.
I was irritated at both Aubree and Parker about the way poor Sophie was treated, that left a bad taste :-(
I guess that’s it, didn’t feel a “real” story, didn’t like the way Sophie was treated, didn’t feel the gossips in the town would get quite that carried away...but as has happened before I’m in the minority, just proves how we all like different things from our reading, and that readers need to look at description and reviews when deciding if a story is or isn’t for them.
This isn’t a bad book, just that for me its not the right book, but its perfect for others. horses for courses as I’m always saying.

Stars: Sadly a two, just not the right book for me.

Quick read
This was a cute and sexy second chance at love romance. The story was full of laughs and witty banter. It also dealt with some serious life altering topics. Aubree and Parker had a past that did not end well. It actually ended with Aubree dumping Parker's beloved Camaro in the lake. Now years later, Aubree has returned home. The first person she sees iis Sheriff Parker. the first thing he does is handcuff her and take her to jail. The fun just continues on from there. Life in a small town can be fun, annoying and just plain crazy. We get all that and more with Still in Love with You.T he author did a good job with mixing the light hearted action with the serious action.
