I thought I would love this, being a redhead and all, but I found the tone of the book offensive. The jokes the author was trying to make fell flat, and again, offensive. Sorry :(

Super fun, light breezy read! There is an automatic kinship, being a natural redhead. People who didn't grow up with the hair, skin and freckles have no idea how much it affects your personality and outlook on life! My daughter expresses her disappointment ever day, that she wasn't born with red hair. She has the freckles, a light sprinkle across the nose, but tans like nobody's business. I tell her she is lucky, but secretly I wouldn't give up being a ginger for anything!

no plans to publish a review for this excerpt - not enough substance in the sample to talk about it.

It wasn't as good as I thought it was going to be. I love redheads and I was so eager to read this but it felt more like a bad joke to me.

This was kind of a quick, cutesy ode to all things redhead, mentioning examples of famous and infamous reds throughout history. It might be a fun gift for your favorite redhead, most of us have at least one or more of them in our lives that we treasure. Thanks to NetGalley, St. Martin's Griffin, and the author for giving me an ARC in return for my review.

“The Big Redhead Book” is a great funny book, inspired by life as a person with red hair. It was a quick read, and enjoyable every step of the way. This is not a formula book with an overwhelming bunch of uninteresting facts just strung together to make readers think they are interesting; this information actually is interesting. And, I am not saying this just because I am a redhead. Well, maybe I am, but so what!

This book has many fun examples that reinforce society’s viewpoint about people with red hair, both those with natural red hair and those with “augmented” red hair. “Gingers” as redheads are sometimes called, are different from everyone else, and again, I am not saying this just because I am a redhead. There is science to back this up. Redheads are actually physically and genetically different from everyone else, thanks to the MC1R gene. This gene mutation means that redheads produce a protein called pheomelanin instead of melanin, and that makes that wonderful red hair color. Take THAT you disbelievers.

I received a copy of “The Big Redhead Book” from Erin La Rosa, St Martin’s Press, and NetGalley in exchange for my review. Seriously, this is a entertaining book to read, both for those with red hair and for those who know someone with red hair. But, be careful, you might just laugh out loud as you read.

I am biased as a red-head, but this is a fun book. Seems to have lots of great stories and is interspersed with what appear to be researched facts. I am looking forward to reading the full book.

Being a natural redhead, I am always interested in reading more about my uniqueness! ;) Unfortunately, the sampler I received was 99.9% what I had already read elsewhere. However, I am still interested in reading the rest of the book. I would recommend this book to anyone who hasn't already read about redheads or others interested in learning more about them.

Since this book is a sampler, it is hard to give a accurate review of the book. The sample included many sections on redheads and humor. Perhaps, the book should make it more clear it is about how redheads can be funny.

I used to be a dark redhead; at about thirty my hair turned brown. For a while, I tried to dye it back red. However most people who knew me later did not think my red hair was genuine. Right now at 57 my has turned dark brown with a little bit of white hair(interesting red hair fact-it does not go grey). I use a light bleach to add some reddish highlights.

I think it is disappointing that the author included not true redheads but people who dyed their hair red. What got me interested in reading about redheads was on St. Patrick's day I read an article about redheads where it brought to my attention several facts about natural redheads that I did not know(such as it goes with being left-handed, bruising easily) which are true for me. Also that some cultures thought red heads were evil and/or vampires.

For me the two things about redheads that I run into is that: a) it means that your are Irish or Scottish which I am not b) it means you have a temper or very high spirited.

The sample included a wide range of the types of writing in "The Big Redhead Book." There was quite a variety of the types of information about red heads, mostly from a humorous point of view.

As a Mother to 3 gingers, I found this text fun and entertaining. It is informative in a lighthearted manner that many will enjoy.
