This story had me in its grip from the first line "He was coming for her, and he was close." This story pulled at my heartstrings and never let go.It was an action-packed thriller from start to finish. The main characters were ones I connected with and cheered for. I also liked that the author included 10 discussion questions to help create lively discussion at book club.

An intricately woven romantic suspense novel!

I love both of the main characters in this wonderful book. Both Tara and Cal are trying hard to keep their distance from others because of wounds that they are carrying. At the same time they are in a situation where they really need to rely on each other. I was very emotionally caught up in both of their lives present and past very quickly.

The plot of the story was fantastic. We knew from the beginning who the terrorist was. It was quite a journey to locate him and figure out how to stop him from killing again. It kept me very involved and pulling for Cal and his team to sort things out.

I’m really looking forward to seeing what comes next for Cal and the rest of the White Knights team.

I received a free eBook copy of this novel through NetGalley. I have chosen to write this review to express my personal opinion.

Fatal Mistake by Susan Sleeman is the first in the White Knight series, which follows the lives of an elite FBI unit. Tara Parrish stumbles upon bomb making supplies in her aunt's shed, and she immediately calls the FBI. While on the phone with FBI agent, Cal Riggs, the owner of the bomb making supplies returns, and she flees for her life. Follow Tara and Cal as they attempt to track down the Lone Wolf serial bomber while staying alive at the same time. This was my first Susan Sleeman book, and I am hooked by her intricate plots and page turning prose.

Susan Sleeman isn't a new author but she is a new-to-me author. Fatal Mistake was a wonderful introduction to her work. I enjoyed the fast pace of the plot and the detailed descriptions of the tactics used to intercept the Lone Wolf serial killer.

This is the first book in the White Knights series that will revolve around a group of FBI special response agents. This novel features agent Cal Riggins. Cal and his team are on the hunt for the Lone Wolf bomber. They are tipped off by Tara Parrish who discovered the missing link to the killer's identity. It soon becomes evident that Tara is in grave danger and she is put into protective custody.

As I said earlier this is a fast read. It's one of those that you keep saying, just one more chapter and then I'll put it down. But before you know it you've devoured the entire book. I enjoyed the seemingly accurate drama and was fascinated by the tactics used to find and apprehend the killer. For the most part I enjoyed getting to know the characters and I look forward to reading the rest of the series to see how the team continues on.

The only part that I found a bit irritating was the character of Cal. His angry outbursts don't seem to fit with a highly trained former Navy SEAL and a current FBI agent. I would think that his undisciplined actions would get him disciplined and or kicked out of the team. Even with that hesitation I still enjoyed the book immensely.

This would be a good pick for your reading group. There are some great discussion questions in the back of the book that would make for interesting interactions within your group. There's also a teaser for the next book. According to the reading the next book is called Kill Shot and the featured agent will be Rick Cannon. It doesn't come out until early 2018 so the waiting is going to be torture.

I received a copy of this book to facilitate my review.

Fatal Mistake is the first book in Susan Sleemans' new White Knights series. I can not wait to get my hands on the rest of the books! I was drawn in from the first page and had a difficult time putting the book down. Sleeman kept my interest the entire time, and had me biting my nails nervous. I found the characters interesting and had a lot of fun getting to know them. This book follows Cal and Tara as they try to find the Lone Wolf bomber.

Tara has a feeling her life will never go back to the way it was. Escaping with her life has changed her, and now she will do everything in her power to survive. Tara knows Cal is looking for her, but doesn't feel that the White Knights are enough to protect her. When Cal finally finds her, he knows he has to keep her in his sight. For some reason she gets to him, and they both have to fight the attraction they feel. The Lone Wolf seems to be upping his game, and no one can stand to let their guard down. Will they make it out alive or will they just be another of the Lone Wolfs victims?

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a great romantic suspense. The plot line was believable and I loved how the romance progressed. I was not ready for the book to end, I didn't want to say goodbye to these fun characters and their intriguing stories. The characters had problems with controlling anger and fear, which we can all relate to. I liked seeing them work through some of their issues, and enjoyed the friendships the White Knights had with each other. I can't wait to see what Ricks' story holds. I received a copy of this book from FaithWords publishing in exchange for my honest opinion. All opinions expressed are my own.

Fatal Mistake is the first book in Susan Sleeman’s new series; White Knights. I have been a fan of Sleeman’s since the first book I read of hers. Fatal Mistake has her trademark non-stop action paired with the romantic suspense to keep you glued to the pages.
From the first pages you are rooting for Tara as she tries to escape the crazy bomber. The scene with her on the phone with Cal are emotionally tense. I was impressed with how well she was at hiding and even more impressed with how Cal and his team were able to find her. Cal is an FBI agent who has been hunting the bomber for months.

The villain is a serial bomber who has been nicknames the Lone Wolf. I don’t want to give anything way so you can enjoy all the twists, turns and suspense like I did. The bomber had some interesting characteristics and with Sleeman’s trademark style you are on the edge of your seat wondering who is going to make it out alive and who won’t.

Sexual content: kissing
Violence: serial bomber,

Unfortunately, I have chosen to DNF this title. I have picked it up a couple of times now and i have not been able to get into the story. I was looking forward to this title, and I was looking forward to the religious and God references, as this is not something I have read a lot of, but there is just something about this that is not holding my attention.

I appreciate the opportunity to read the title and look forward to the next one.

Thanks,
Laura

4.5 Stars, this is book one in The White Knights series. I look forward to reading more in this series. Sleeman does an amazing job at writing suspenseful, FBI type, romance books. She incorporates so much in her novels and yet you feel like this could be happening right next door. I love the entire White Knight group, they are a special devision of the FBI. I can't wait to get into the lives of all the characters in this novel.

You are first introduced to Tara Parrish, as she is in need of the White Knights. When she stumbles upon explosives and believes she may know 'The Lone Wolf bomber'. Will she be able to find the help she needs before it is too late? Tara must decide the best way to keep herself alive yet help solve this case and keep herself from heartache.

Agent Cal Riggins (sigh worthy) is who answers the call on 'The Lone Wolf bomber' hotline. When he feels this call is on the up and up will he make it in time to save Tara. When Tara and Cal meet sparks fly in more ways than one. Will he be able to keep Tara safe and overcome some obstacles in his past as well?

This book is full of suspense, mystery, romance, friendship and more. I love the writing style of Sleeman and always look forward to reading anything she writes.

If you’re looking for a fast-paced, thrill-packed story full of action and suspense with a side of romance, look no further. Fatal Mistake is the book for you. I’ve read several books by Susan Sleeman, but this is my favorite so far. My interest was captured from the first sentence to the last of the many plot twists and turns. This book is obviously well-researched, with the author giving enough detail to understand what’s going on, but not so much that it overwhelms the reader. The characters are carefully crafted and realistic. Cal and Tara, the main characters, come alive on the page and are endearing and relatable. I enjoyed the thread of faith and trust woven into the story. I would recommend this to those who enjoy clean romantic suspense.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Tara is just going about her every day life when she stubbles onto what appears to be the Lone Wolf. She gets spooked and runs, but can she out run him or will he be every step ahead. Cal gets a call that changes the investigation and throughs it all on top of its head. He just never expected to have the one victim that lived and make her the center of the investigation. Can he get to the bottom of all of this or will it continue to blow up in his face?
This book is completely on the edge of your seat you need to know whats going to happen next. If you like Dee Henderson then this book is for sure a book you will want to read. This books extremely good, it had so many twist and turns that just when you thought about stopping the author throws in a twist and you need to know whats happens. I read this in one setting because I found it hard to put down and before I knew it I was done. I can not wait for more. I so loved this team and want to know more about this fun and close group of friends.

Thoughts:

FATAL MISTAKE: A Novel by Susan Sleeman pushes the button for suspense from the beginning hurling us into a headline thriller where romance erupts from inside the ashes!

Tara Parrish knows a criminal up close and personal, but she doesn’t know this man is the Lone Wolf until she discovers his hideout that is in plain sight. Frightened, she makes to dial the FBI hotline that’s been all over the news, but when the suspect enters the scene, Tara doubts she’ll still be alive once help shows up.

While the FBI needs a break, in this case, the hotline hasn’t turned a solid lead until a frightened Tara Parrish reaches out, and from what she describes, Cal is sure she has found him. The terror in her voice increases as the suspect returns. The six-month search is now depending on keeping this woman alive. His skills did not prepare him for what he is about to face!

Is it possible to save her life from miles away? Will the next explosion silence the future or will this case implode from fear alone?

***This opinion is my own.***

In FATAL MISTAKE: A Novel by Susan Sleeman, FBI Agent Cal Riggins puts his life on the line to save others, but he picks up a call that changes this deadly investigation and brings him closer to the end.

An innocent stumbled upon a horrid scene, but Tara Parrish knows more than anyone else does about this man. As the clock ticks, Cal could hear the caller’s last breath. Even if he could get there, it may still end this same way. Only minutes away, he hears Tara’s labored footfalls, and he is thankful for that.

Once at the scene, he gets an earful of her sprint through the foliage as shots ring out!

Meanwhile, Tara Parrish scampers inside the tree line darting from anything that moves, but she is sure that she’ll never live to see the dawn of another day. The FBI agent on the phone helped her to get free from a building, but he’s not here to prevent the next bullet from ripping through her.

Can anyone keep her safe?

“An FBI agent must protect the woman who can identify a terrorist bomber “ ; It's with that premise my heart started pounding in anticipation of a story that would leave me breathless the whole way through!

What would it feel like to know that a childhood friend turned out to be an alleged terrorist with links to ISIS? And knowing he's coming after you? Beyond scary! Tara flees for her life, always having to watch her back, and be hyper-aware of her surroundings. Even with the protection of the FBI agent Cal Riggins and his team, she's terrified and afraid. Can they stop his reign of terror when he dogs their every move?

This story could be ripped out of today's newspaper! The modern elements in this story made it feel very real. It had me gripped in it's clutches from the very first sentence & held captive until the end when I could finally catch my breath! The danger kept ramping up, the surprise attacks coming from unexpected places. A truly gripping suspense! I thought Tara and Cal were the perfect hero & heroine characters. I could connect with them as they both struggled with past issues, and as they began to get to know one another. Elements of attraction took the back seat, while the suspense took front & center. I loved seeing these two fall in love in spite of their reluctance to. I also loved the faith-theme woven throughout, God was a natural part of the story. Getting to know the rest of Cal's team—the White Knights—was an added bonus. I'm sure we'll meet them in the next installments of what sounds like another fantastic suspense series by an author who knows how to write them! Gripping terror, danger lurking around every corner, hints of romance and faith mesh in this highly recommended novel!

Tara is shot but the FBI gets there in time to save her, still she cannot feel safe until Oren, The Lone Wolf is captured.

From Spotyslvanaia County Virgina too Dufur Oregon, to Fairfax Virgina.

It comes to light that Oren had been keeping a journal one he called Ode to Tara.

Will Tara be able to find safety once more?

Will she find love?

Will the FBI agent who is slowly falling for Tara be able to protect her?

This was a very interesting, high pace story. There was not a dull moment, and no slowing down in the plot. The suspense and romance where the level, easy to follow, and at the end there was a unique message about hope. Highly recommend for a weekend of reading, if you like intense suspense and romance.

Fatal Mistake was so good. I opened the book up and got hooked right away from that opening scene. It was intense, suspenseful, and gripping. I think one of the reasons this book was so intense was because it felt like it could be a true story and that made me care for the characters even more. The villain was insane and creepy. His fascination with Tara was scary and I really can't believe all the stuff he was able to do.

I really liked the FBI agent and how, even though he had a job to do which did pull him away from personally protecting Tara at times, he still was very invested in her protection. I also liked Tara, but I did think some of the things she did were a bit foolish, but understandable considering the circumstances.

All in all, Fatal Mistake was a great opening to Susan Sleeman's new series, White Knights, and I am eager to read the next book! I definitely recommend Fatal Mistake.

You can rest assure that any book by Ms. Sleeman’s will keep you engaged throughout the story. Fatal Mistake the first book in her new series, White Knights, is no exception. These elite FBI agents , are part of the Critical Incident Response group. All interesting characters that I am sure we’ll get to know better as the series progresses.
In this story, our main characters are Cal Riggins, and Tara Parrish. Cal is the one who responds to Tara’s emergency call to the FBI hotline. She suspects her friend Oren is the Lone Wolfe and at the moment she is trapped and fears that once Oren finds her, he will kill her. Cal is her lifeline until she gets hurt.
Fearing no one can help her, she disappears . Cal is determined to find her, and does, since he believes she is the key in catching Oren.
As the story develops , so does the attraction between these two, but each has personal demons and both feel God has abandoned them.
Besides an engaging storyline filled with suspense, criminal investigations, betrayal, and romance, it’s much more than that. It’s a story of individuals that are full of imperfections like us, who at times have lost their faith in God and in themselves, whose past experiences have caused them to build a wall around their hearts and their feelings, but with faith and love, they are able to overcome it all.
Another clean, Christian , romance suspense story by this talented author. One worth your time.
I was gifted this book by Netgalley and the author. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

Fatal Mistake is a romantic suspense novel. It is light reading and satisfying for the romance genre. The POV and dialogue seemed stilted and awkward, but that did not hinder my enjoyment. The climax is thrilling! The characters were nicely developed, and I felt emotionally invested in them! I will definitely read the next installment in this new series!
