Joi's tale of the pursuit of the ring despite many obstacles made for fascinating reading. It really made me want to meet Joi for afternoon cocktails and get the whole tale from start to finish. A compelling insight into a dating landscape that's alien to me in Scotland but one I found so interesting. Joi's style is lively and engaging and I really enjoyed this twisting and turning tale en route to happy ever after. Thoroughly recommend!

Joi-Marie is the woman that we all want to be. And she's proof that you don't need a man. As a woman you can be happy with just you. I"m envious of Joi-Marie.

There is a niche audience for The Engagement Game, and unfortunately it wasn't me. Based on the flap copy, one might assume that anyone that has been married for some time (like myself) isn't the right audience, but that wasn't the reason I didn't connect with the book. I think it would most appeal to the 25-35 female audience who enjoys a more casual, stream-of-consciousness style of writing. I was invested in the author's story, why her relationship with her long-term boyfriend didn't work, and how she would emerge on the other side. However the more interesting and important parts of her story got lost in dialogue and details of daily life that could've been edited out. I finished, but I found myself skimming through most of the last third because I was getting bogged down in the excess.

Did not finish. I made it through Part One.
I can't tell if this book is a memoir, fiction or a combination of the two.
I had a hard time relating to the protagonist.
And maybe it's just me, but I could not picture what either she nor her boyfriend looked like.
