This is a fantastic introduction to Richardson’s new series. We get to meet some great characters and have little glimpses at what is probably going to be future story-lines, but without cheating these two out of a well-deserved HEA.

Jessa is a kind-hearted, giving person … and Lance is her opposite – closed-off, gruff, and private, he’s got a big heart but he’s also got some demons. When Jessa’s friendship with Lance’s dad puts them in each other’s orbit, Lance is thrown for a loop. He should definitely be staying far away from the good girl looking for Prince Charming, but there’s something about her that just draws him in.

The back and forth between these two is a ton of fun. He’s all prickly and she’s got a ton of spirit, so you know that sparks will fly. They both know that they shouldn’t be together but the attraction is just too hard to resist. After the required blow-ups and misunderstandings, hurt feelings and apologies, everything comes together well.

Between his brothers & her friends you know that there are more of these to come and I’m looking forward to it. These people all need things to go their way as soon as possible.

I absolutely loved this story. Jessa and Lance had me laughing out loud so many times. I also loved that Lance cared so much about his father. Nothing like a sexy cowboy who loves kids and older people. This small town romance was chock full of awesome characters. I can't wait to see them in future books in this series.
Lance and Jessa's path to a HEA is not an easy one but their journey sure made a fantastic read.

Home Town Cowboy A Rocky Mountains Rider Series Sarah Richardson

This novel has everything! A hunky bull rider, an animal activist, amazing characters and some adorable animals. It showcases some serious subjects also. A Mom leaves her young family of three boys. A Dad who can't function and the oldest son must keep his family together. Plus, what every adult feels, the fear of what's to come with an aging parent.

Lance Cortez is working every moment he can to get ready for the World Finals in bull riding. Many of his fans think he should have retired, but this is his one chance to prove he is still a champion. He is estranged from his brothers Lucas and Lance. Lance lives with his father Luis who was a former rodeo champion as well. Now he volunteers at the Helping Paws Animal Rescue and Shelter, run by his best friends daughter, and taking off on overnight hikes in the mountains.

Jessa Mae Love is the owner of the animal rescue and feels like she would be lost without Luis's help. She has the dubious honor around town for being "almost engaged" multiple times. The last loser broke up with her via text. No More Men. That is till Lance asks for her help taking care of his father so he can train. Luis has a tendency to wander off lately, and worrying them all. She is hesitant until Lance offers to share his winnings from the finals with her and the shelter, and funds have been a constant worry lately. So she agrees. She loves Luis like a father, keeping watch over him is a no-brainer she is with him most of the time anyway. She gets way more than she bargained for.

In the second chapter there is a scene that made me cry I was laughing so hard! I've read it over and over, and still end up laughing. No spoilers, but it involves Lance making a surprise visit to Jessa at home. A very big surprise! I enjoyed this book from cover to cover. If you like Cowboy Romance grab it!

I received this ARC from the publisher and Netgalley for an honest review.

“Love is something you choose. Every day. In the happy moments. But in the terrible moments, too. In the moments you’re so angry you want to hurt someone. You still choose love.”

Oh, man… this book, though. It started a little slowly for me—with life distracting me, I struggled to get into it—but once I hit about 25%, it started to come alive. It started to make me smile. Swoon. Feel good.

Yes, it's not all perfect, hearts and roses, sunshine and rainbows—there's some pain and depth and tension here—but ultimately, Hometown Cowboy is a quick read, and one of those books that'll give your feels a workout. In the best way.

Between sweet, hopeful Jessa and rough and tumble Lance, this book has chemistry and a sweetness that's just right. Their ‘meet-cute’ moment was a blast, their back and forth engaging, the moments with Lance's brothers and Jessa's friends amusing, and their story super cute. Light. Happy.

All the good things.

Being the start of a new series, Hometown Cowboy introduced us to a host of characters—some who I ached for, some who I laughed at, some who made me a little grumpy, but all of them characters I'm looking forward to seeing again. Soon.

“I want to give you everything. I want to be the person who loves you.”

Who doesn’t love a good cowboy romance? And I can tell you after reading Hometown Cowboy, I am so excited for this new series from Sara Richardson!

Jessa Mae Love has not had any luck at love… not one bit. Sure her parents never married and she never had the best role models for love, but that doesn’t mean that she’s not deserving of it. So why does she always pick the worst men in the world to fall for? After her father’s death her plans to take over the animal shelter he ran Topaz Falls, Colorado was becoming more of a hassle than a help. With no donations coming in and a facility that was run down, there wasn’t too much she could do to help propel her father’s dreams without having to kind of re-invent herself. The last person she thought she would gain attention from was Lance Cortez, bull rider and family friend who never paid attention to her before.

Lance Cortez has always been taking care of his family, at least since their mom walked out on him as a teen, leaving him to take care of his brothers and dad. Although he’s not old, he’s coming to the end of his career and doesn’t need any distractions from training for the World Championship. So when he notices that his dad is start to need more around the clock attention, he enlists the help of Jessa Mae, his dad’s best friend’s daughter, whom he helps out at her animal shelter. I mean he spends most of his free time with her anyways. What he didn’t expect was to have this pull towards the woman he’s known for most of his life… but she look like that the last time he saw her?

Jessa and Lance can’t deny the pull between the two of them, but they just aren’t right for each other. Jessa is looking for a happily ever after and Lance he doesn’t believe is a love that lasts. But can Jessa be the one girl who can help change his mind?

I loved this book so much. The yummy sexual tension between Lance and Jessa is fun, flirty and sexy. Such a great start to a series! I can’t wait for more of the Cortez brothers!

The only reason that I am giving this book three stars is because at the 70% mark, the book just slowed down and it lost me. This book is about Jessa, a veterinarian, and Lance, a cowboy bull rider, who both were served a heaping plate of parental issues and they fall in love. Sweet right? Well it is because Jessa has a heart of gold and Lance is a strong minded cowboy who wants to be alone. They have known of each other since they were kids, but they never really looked at each other.

They officially come face to face when Lance is looking for his dad around the ranch. Knowing that Luis is always at the animal shelter with Jessa, Lance goes to her house to question her. That is when their relationship starts to bloom. Lance is training for a world title in bull riding and he needs to focus on the prize, but he can't because he has to keep an eye on his father whom is acting strange. Trying to find a solution, Lance offers Jessa a portion of the winnings if she will move in and keep an eye on his father while he trains. I already saw where this was going and I still enjoyed it. I appreciated this story because I was able to witness their relationship bloom and they shared the same love for Lance's dad, Luis. Jessa's dad and Luis were best friends up until Jessa's father untimely death.

Right from the first page I liked Jessa and Lance. It was funny, sweet, and the characters had heart. The feelings were written on the page and I really wanted the two of them to stop dancing around each other and get together already. I loved the addition of Lance's brothers and I am hoping that they will have their own stories.

I know you are thinking that is a perfect review and if you did, you would be incorrect my friend. You see, this story was almost perfect and believe me, I wanted it to be perfect. I was having fun and blushing because of this cowboy and all of a sudden, the book just stops. It turns into a major romance movie cliché. Jessa is a major romance enthusiast and I think the author was watching romance movies while she was writing the second half of this book. I saw the ending coming from a mile away and I wasn't pleased. When I say stop moving, I mean the book gets boring to me. At the 70% mark, the humor is gone, the pacing is slow, and I am not entertained. But I will say that in the last part of the book, there is a lesson about family, love, and forgiveness.

Although I gave this book a 3 star rating, which is still a good rating by the way, I will still recommend this book because it does have a great storyline and great characters.

My Review: Sometimes you just need a hot cowboy in your life. And what luck - there is going to be a whole series of hot cowboys! I jumped at the chance to review this book because it just sounded so cute. And I was so not disappointed. I loved reading about Jessa and Lance. When he first shows up at her house? I giggled through that whole scene, it was perfect.

I don't want to spoil anything for anyone, so I will just say that the drama with Lance's father hit me right in the feels. And then the big climax, when the hero inevitably messes everything up so readers can get their sappy reunion.. I could not be prouder of Jessa for sticking up for herself. Girl power to the max!

Now I just have to wait a million years for the next book.

Cover Lovin': Yeehaw!

Recommendation: No prior knowledge necessary. But be prepared to be desperate for the next book!

Final Rating: FOUR out of FIVE stars (4/5). This was just so darned cute, I loved it. And as much as I liked this, I know I'm going to love the other brothers' stories just as much!

Welcome to the kick-off to a brand new series by Sara Richardson, always something to look forward to. Hometown Cowboy gives us a look into the Cortez family – dad and three brothers, all holding memories of the past that won’t quite let go enough to see the present or the future with much hope in the relationship department. Luis, a former bull rider himself, has watched the effects his wife’s leaving has had on his boys. He built a good life for them all, a ranch to be proud of, but now something is wrong. And lives are about to change.

Lance doesn’t believe in love. Oh, he loves women almost as much as riding, but the romantic kind of love, the one that’s supposed to last forever… nah, that doesn’t exist, he has proof of that watching his mother leave them all those years ago. So he may be called a heart breaker, but he’s never tip-toed around that fact that his intentions are not long term, and his heart is firmly wrapped up in his family, ranching and riding. Period. End of discussion.

Jessa may think she’s unlucky in love, but the fact seems to be that she’s more in love with the idea of love than the men who have come far short in the sticking around area. So, she’s sworn off the creatures, at least for the moment. She’s got enough on her plate right now and a break is exactly what her heart needs right now.

Fortunately, circumstances will bring Lance and Jessa together with enough sparks to prove that you can never say never where love is concerned.

I enjoyed Lance and Jessa’s journey to true love. Although definitely a bit rocky with stubbornness, misunderstandings and some attitude adjustments on both sides, eventually we’re well aware that they are on the right track. I do feel that we were left out of a bit of their journey as the ending of their story and the epilogue seem a bit… uneven in the status of their relationship. Even though, this is the first of the series and perhaps we’ll meet up with this couple on down the line for an update. In all, Hometown Cowboy was a delightful story and hooked me for the next one to come.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

I have loved Sara Richardson since the Heart of the Rockies series. With the start of a new series, I can predict another hit on her hands. I mean, really who in their right mind doesn't love a very HOT cowboy and a quirky love interest who for better words, doesn't know she is beautiful. This is th story of Lance and Jessa.

Jessa Love has sworn off love. After multiple relationships, multiple engagements, and multiple heartache, she knows that she is daydreaming to think she will ever have love, a home and a family. But when HOT and SEXY Lance Cortez shows up at her door, begging her to help him keep an eye on his father, she agrees, and swears to herself that she will NOT kiss him, she will not pine after him. But can she convince her heart to keeps its distance?

Lance Cortez does not have time to keep his wandering father from wandering off, he has a rodeo to train for. When he goes to ask Jessa for help, he did not expect to see her in nothing by a bra and thong. He did not expect the white hot shot of lust for the woman that he has known for years. But he doesn't want a commitment, his mother leaving cured him of that when he was a kid. But that does not stop Lance from begging Jessa to help keep an eye on his dad. That does not stop him from daring her to kiss him at every turn. That does not stop him from wanting her.

As Lance and Jessa dance around the issues, they fall and fall hard for each other, but it will take friends, family and a meddling old man to push these two past their issues and and into a beautiful HEA.

I love the quirky Jessa. She is so awkward, she really doesn't realize that she is a beauty, but she doesn't feel so awkward around Lance. He makes her feel beautiful And Lance, I mean come on.....HOT SEXY cowboy alert! He had it all, and with Jessa, he is able to have all the things that he never thought could ever have, love, laughter and a family of his own..

Hometown Cowboy takes place in Topaz Falls (I love how relaxing that sounds!) with a hot rodeo bull ridin' cowboy..... and a sweet, down home, outdoorsy animal rescuer. The perfect combination!

Jessa Mae Love is done with romance until Lance Cortez walks into her life, looking for help with his dad, Luis. Luis and Jessa have a strong connection already, so she really doesn't want to say no. Plus it's the perfect opportunity to get closer to Lance.

The more time they are around each other it's obvious these two clearly have communication issues. Lance doesn't do romance well and he knows it, heck he SAID so. Jessa has many failed almost marriages... she knows how to love and does it big. She just has to teach Lance how to love too.

In the midst of trying to work out their relationship, if you call it that, they don't know what they are.... Luis has some medical problems he's facing and it could be serious. SOMETHING is wrong with him and it's scary. Jessa just want's to be there for everyone and help the best she can.

I was so angry with Lance multiple times how he so willingly gives up. When times got tough with Jessa or he got pissed at something she did he was just done. I didn't like that, the big bad bull rider couldn't handle an altercation. Don't give up on him though, he does redeem himself and grow a lot from what he was in the beginning.

"You brought me to life and now I want a life with you. Always. I hate it when you go home. I want the ranch to be our home now. Together. You and me and a whole bunch of kids."

When they FINALLY wake up and realize what's right in front of them, they are so cute together. They SO deserved their happily ever after. I hope that we will see more from the other Cortez brothers real soon!

My rating: 3/5 'cam it' stars

Jessa Mae a veterinarian who rescues animals and runs her late fathers animal shelter is a sucker for romance but after the last breakup she has sworn off men. She has caught the attention of Lance Cortez he is famous for riding bulls and breaking hearts.

He is trying to train for the bull riding circuit and take care of his ailing father. He enlists Jessa to come and live with his father on the ranch while he is training. Jessa has captured his attention and the more she resists him the more he wants to pursue her. His troubled past has prevented him from letting anyone get too close but the feelings he develops for Jessa have him thinking of the future.

Can he get Jessa on the same page?

Wonder what will happen next in the Rocky Mountain Riders Series.

Jessa is looking or rather not looking for love. She really needs to focus on her self and getting her dads legacy off the ground and continue to help those in need. When she is asked to help with her dads best friend she sees he may need more help then she might be able to give. Lance has his heart and his mind set on going to worlds. Things he doesn't have time for drama from his brothers, women and anything else that takes away from worlds. When things seem to working against him and his dad goes missing he needs to figure out whats important.
What a fun book with fun characters. Right off the back you can see the quirkiness of the characters. The story is fun there are a few twist and turns in along the way. I tended to have a love hate relationship with Lance, he seemed selfish and annoying and then he seemed to show some compassion. I really liked Jessa and her clan of friends they are the type of friends you just love to have no matter what. This book is geared to adults it has strong language through out. I felt that in some place the language was not always need but just a way to fill in. The book over all was a fun read but I did struggle with it keep my attention the whole time. I will say this I am anxious to find out what happens next with the brothers and with Luis.

The best gifts are the ones presented with love. Words to live by. Hometown Cowboy has LOVE written all over it. Ms. Richardson's kinship with her readers is evident with every word she writes and each character she creates. She targets the heart and scores with every aim. Hometown Cowboy starts with regrets and sorrow but gradually builds with a brighter hope for a better tomorrow. Lance and Jessa's path is not always pretty, but it's built on real emotion and not manufactured in any way. To heal the pain of the past, we have to face it, accept it and move forward. I never tire of this author, her melodies always hit the right chord with me.

3.5 stars

I downloaded this on a whim, looking for some new sorbet authors.

I really liked Jessa. She's genuinely a good person, loyal, loving and so kind. I truly enjoyed being in her head. Lance is stubborn and stand off ish and maybe a bit cocky and he wears it well. Their UST was off the charts.

The plot was sweet and funny and maybe a bit heartbreaking. Of course there's the angry break up and grand gesture, but it was the epilogue that was the best. And with this great cast of her bffs and his brothers, I'm hoping everyone gets paired off for more books.

Overall, a quick and cute read with a majority satisfying ending. I'll definitely be looking for other books in the series.

Hometown Cowboy by Sara Richardson is a must read for all. This romantic tale is full of hot sexy cowboys who can make any woman swoon. Their stories come alive with every page. Deep, sad, and emotionally charged. Sara Richardson has created an unforgettable story. Her characters are charming, funny, and believable. Themes of forgiveness, love, and family are represented from beginning to end. I remember just opening the book and before I knew it, I was done. The reading went by fast. I got lost within the lives of the characters. I loved reading it.

Sara Richardson brought a tale about one small-town family. Cowboys. A father was a bull rider. His wife couldn't handle the pressure of losing him...and knowing her boys wanted to do what their father did...only pushed her further away. One day she left. Never returning. It was that day foreword that the lives of three boys and their father changed dramatically. Secrets kept since childhood come tumbling out...as all four men are reunited under sad circumstances. The oldest son, took over as parent to his younger brothers. It not long until fate comes knocking his world completely upside down and inside out...Jesse Mae Love. A woman who is dumped once more and ready to give up on romance and love. That was...before she got tangled up further into the lives of one family. Especially with the eldest son. Fates are entwined and it's only a matter of time if they both come out healed or completely destroyed. Hometown Cowboy is definitely Italy a page turner. So much action, drama, and love to lure readers within its depth. Overall, I highly recommend it to all

Lance needs to work on his approach with Jessa, “on a date.” He paused as though the words had surprised him, too, but then he nodded. “Yeah. I want to take you on a date.” Lance really hates being disturbed, “will we ever be able to make love without being interrupted?” he wondered aloud." Great start to a new series, I'm so eager for the next book.
