I thought that this book was great - educational for the young and old. It shows how the reintroduction of the wolf has benefited the entire Yellowstone National Park ecosystem. I live in the UK and there are always rumblings about reintroductions, this book shows how there can be so many positives to a few negatives. 4 stars

I loved this book. The beautiful illustration throughout could easily be made into prints. I also found the page where the wolves had killed an elk tastefully illustrated, thus it would not be offensive to any young readers.
Gives young readers a different perspective of wolves, as this book shows the reader the vital role wolves play in maintaining the health of other wildlife.

What a beautiful example of nonfiction writing for young people! Animal lovers and nature lovers of all ages will be drawn to this book. I appreciate that bibliographic sources are included at the end. Well done! Highly recommended!

I expected this to be a story of wolf reintroduction to Yellowstone, based on the title. Instead it was a book about life at Yellowstone for all creatures during the low wolf populations and how they changed with new wolf life. It’s not bad, but the title is deceptive.

I received this ARC from Netgalley for an honest review.

I love this book about nature in Yellowstone National Park. It begins with the story of the wolves that I released at the Park. The story continues with stories and pictures of all of the other animals that call Yellowstone home. Lovely story and gives hope that the wolves will continue to be there, although with the political climate it's doubtful. We will need to show kids that these animals did actually exist.

This book does a good job of explaining wildlife management principles in an accessible way. The relationships between animals, and their ecosystems, is presented in a way that flows well and is both factual and enjoyable, and full of discovery, and I think this book would do well in elementary school classrooms and science classes. The story succeeds in what, I feel, many try to achieve but don't ever quite manage, which is to tell a large story and also provide the details that keep children engaged.

I do feel that the typography could be more inviting for the age group I feel will get the most value from this book (Grades 1-3), but the illustrations are charming and accurate (the right species in the right ecosystems - something so small that many get wrong!).

Overall, this book does a good job of telling an important story of contemporary ecosystem management, and I think it delivers on the promise all children's books have - to provide a sense of wonder and discovery.

The Wolves Return by Celia Godkin is a delightful book that explains how life is all intertwined. The information is clearly but gently given concerning the reintroduction of wolves to the Yellowstone National Pak. My grandson rated it at 21 Stars but of course, we can only give it 5. I liked the information at the end where an ecosystem can be affected by many factors including the loss of predators. My grandson liked the wonderful illustrations. They are realistic with an artistic watercolor style.

The content is easy for a young student to understand while a student who may be at a “M level” could read it. This nonfiction book would a great addition to a child’s personal library as well as to a classroom library. While the author’s view on the reintroduction are clear it still would make a great discussion starter.

The publisher through Net Galley provided a copy.

The Wolves Return as a quick, easy read with delightful illustrations that focus on the influence that wolves have within an ecosystem. The focus on the science and facts separate this book from the usually more emotional appeal for conservation efforts. The Wolves Return illustrates that all flora and fauna have a direct influence on the success of an ecosystem and it's circular chain of interdependence. The book can be easily understood by primary children.

This is a wonderful book to teach about ecosystems, conservation as well as endangered species. When wolves are moved from Canada to Yellowstone Park, wonderful things happen. The wolf is at the top of the food chain, but when they are reintroduced, they hunt and kill the old and sick elk which keeps the herd to a good size, thus increasing the size of the bison herd. The plants come back, the beaver build damns so ponds appear and pond life returns and on it goes. The illustrations are realistic enough done in watercolour. They are colourful and somewhat muted which gives a nice feel to this book. A great book for a primary classroom as well as a public library. The publisher generously provided me with a copy of this book via Netgalley.

A good introduction for kids to ecosystems, the food chain, and conservation, through the true story of the reintroduction of wolves to Yellowstone National Park.

This is a nice book that references the re-introduction of wolves into Yellowstone. The pictures are nice. The text references how the wolves have helped to put the ecosystem back into balance, but I don't think it really makes the connection clear enough for most kids. There are other books that do that better, so I would buy them instead of this one.

Kids will enjoy learning about how wolves are important to many other animals.

A nice book about the return of the wolves and the ensuing trophic cascades. A little bit romantacizes it an definitely anthropomorphizes some of the animals. But the pictures are beautiful (almost pointillism) and look fairly accurate for body type/structures of the animals.

This is a book about the history of the wolf population at Yellowstone. It's amazing how one disruption in the food chain can change everything. Very educational, illustrated, and perfect for elementary ages.
