I thought the story and its illustrations were both really cute. I liked the focus on how important it is to return animals to the wild. Sometimes the dialogue felt stilted compared to other books for this age group, but overall it was fine. I thought for sure my fox-obsessed 7 year-old would be thrilled to read this, but she had trouble getting into it and never finished.

This is a super cute clean story for children of all ages... especially those who love animals! There are lots of details and different elements in the story. It is simple but complex at the same time. There is a lot of medical jargon used which could make the story difficult for some children to understand. However, that could be a learning opportunity though. Good easy way for kids to learn what it takes to take care of animals. Great story. Hope there are more stories about Animal Magic rescue.

I received an advanced digital copy of this book from netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion.

Another great Children's book that is family oriented and cheerful. There are several great black and white illustrations to help children visualize the characters and animals in the story. The story reads at a good pace, never lagging. It is full of excitement, adventure and a bit of a mystery.

This story is a continuation of the Animal Magic Rescue Center series. Al of them lovely stories on their own.

Caleb and Ella Harrison enjoy helping their mom, the veterinarian, at Animal Magic Rescue Center.
Heading to her house one evening at dusk, Ella hears a small animals cry of distress from out in the neighbors pasture. On the bank of the river she finds the small animal with its leg trapped in barbed wire. To her surprise it's a fox kit! After her mom mends the fox kits leg, she warns Ella that it's not a pet. Ella is at first shocked when her mother explains that the fox kit will have to be returned back to the wild.
Ella discusses with her parents her concerns over the fox kits release. They decide to attach a radio transmitter to the kit prior to release. Ella is happy that she will be able to track and monitor the kit – until one day the signal is lost!

Children will enjoy reading the story and helping Caleb and Ella solve the mystery of the lost transmitter signal. They'll also enjoy the other animals being cared for at Animal Magic Rescue Center, even the spunky, mischievous billy goat Ella named Gordon.

I enjoyed this book and think all children will enjoy it. Recommend for ages 7 and up.

Ella and her family run an animal rescue centre. One day, as dusk is falling, Ella hears the sound of an animal in pain. Thinking it might be an animal someone dropped off under cover of darkness, she goes exploring. Through the neighbours’ property she follows the sound, expecting to find a pup. What she finds is a fox kit tangled in barbwire. Her family joins her and together they untangle the wee fox and take him back to the Centre, keeping him in the cat clinic area.

Ella’s parents aren't sure if the kit will make it at first. He'd lost a lot of blood, and infection was a big danger. They treat him as best they can, leaving him sleeping, with a saline drip going. Morning finds him alive, and well. As the kit begins to recover, Ella makes the mistake of handling him too often, until her mom tells her that the kit must be released once he is better, and too much human handling will make it hard for him. Reluctantly, Ella stops, but now she's fretting constantly about how safe he’ll be once released. Her family comes up with a plan, but will it work?

I read this book with my cubs. It was a good learning lesson, for we have occasion, living where we do, to tend injured wildlings, sometimes only for a few hours, other times for a few days. The most recent encounter was with a storm petrel that got trapped in a building. He was safely captured, and observed for a few hours before being deemed safe to release. But what an inspiring sight! Petrels are pelagic, and aren't oft found inland. This book illustrated why wild creatures should be released back to the wild whenever possible. They aren't pets, no matter how much we want a fox (or a petrel). In the latter’s case, they are endangered, so doubly important.

The illustrations for the book were adorable, and the whole book was enjoyed by a variety of ages.

Animal Magic is a family run Animal Rescue Centre. Ella and Caleb help their mom who is a vet, run the centre. Caleb puts the animals pictures and descriptions on the website trying to find them a forever home. In this story, Ella rescues an injured fox kit. He needs stitches after being tangled in barbed wire. Ella helps nurse him back to health and names him Copper. Mom warns her not to handle him unless necessary, he is not a pet and will need to be released in the wild once his leg heals. Meanwhile, Caleb is working hard to find a home for a goat they rescued. Will Copper make it back in the wild? Will anyone want to adopt a troublesome goat? Read about the Harrison family and Animal Magic. This is a great chapter book for beginning readers that will entertain them as well as teach them about animal rescues and about what to do when you find an injured wild animal. The illustrations are black and white drawings but are cute and add just enough to the story while keeping it age appropriate. A great book for school and classroom libraries as well as for a gift for that beginning reader who loves animals.
