I'm not entirely sure how I feel about this book yet, having read only the sample provided. I do think the premise is interesting and would be curious to know what happens to the Mayor, who else is on the list, and if they've identified the body parts. At the same time, I felt like some of the first few chapters dragged here and there. I would likely read this book when it is published, however will probably get it at the library before forming my final opinion and potentially recommending it.

Was lucky enough to read the first five chapters of this book, courtesy of Netgalley. Just WOW! This book is going to be epic. I'm not really into thrillers but the synopsis for this book got me in right from the get go. Can't wait till it is out and I can read the full book.

What an astonishing opening. The story starts with one of the best courtroom scenes I've read; there's a real sense of character and location and tension builds quickly as the jury return to deliver the verdict. The conflict among those present as to guilt or innocence are clear. Then all hell breaks loose and the reader is catapulted forward to a crime scene and a truly gruesome discovery. It's so well imagined, it feels real!

I genuinely couldn't put this down and devoured the 5 sampler chapters in one go. It really sets the pulse racing and s very visual. Not in terms of graphic violence, but the descriptions are so good, it's easy to visualise and feel like you're part of the scene. It's by far one of the most exciting books I've read in some time, a truly remarkable debut and I can't wait to read the rest.

Although I really liked the actual plot of this book, I found the writing to be long and drawn out. I read this sampler in the hopes of really getting into who was murdered and by whom, but after reading it and realizing it was only a small portion of the book, I don't think I'll be reading the full version anytime soon.

Brilliant fast paced start to a book. Really looking forward to reading the rest of it.

I really enjoyed this sampler and will definitely pick up a copy as soon as it is released next month so I can see what other crazy, action-packed stuff they can fit into this creepy and highly suspenseful story. I highly recommend at least reading the sampler.

An interesting start that certainly gives a good view into what surely is a good crime thriller that has lots of action! Can't wait to see if this book can keep up the momentum it starts out with!

Ragdoll by Daniel Cole is a mystery and thriller and general fiction (adult) read.
A body is discovered with the dismembered parts of six victims stitched together, nicknamed by the press as the 'Ragdoll'. Assigned to the shocking case are Detective William 'Wolf' Fawkes, recently reinstated to the London Met, and his former partner Detective Emily Baxter.
The 'Ragdoll Killer' taunts the police by releasing a list of names to the media, and the dates on which he intends to murder them. With six people to save, can Fawkes and Baxter catch a killer when the world is watching their every move in really enjoyed this book. Shame it was only a sampler I would love to read the whole book. 5*. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book from netgalley.

From the acronym of the lead detective’s name spelling Wolf (William Oliver Layton-Fawkes) to the zealous attempts to protect those with a target on their back, 'Ragdoll' reaches the giddy heights of fanatic serial killer with extreme methods for dispatching their victims.

With the motive unclear, just the indication that Wolf is somehow been invited to play. Let’s hope his impulsive instincts don’t make a repeat performance – after redeeming himself from the last debacle where he proved himself unstable, if incredibly accurate in his verdict of the culprit, the last thing he needs is to divert the team’s efforts from solving this new case to concentrate on minimising the first sniff of adverse publicity.

There’s some cracking attention to natural personal detail that would otherwise be missed in other novels, like preparing for the press conference where he ensures that “his fly is done up and that he doesn’t look any more exhausted or downtrodden as usual.”

Yep. I’m loving ALL the character’s identities already! Wolf’s colleagues are introduced in an expertly nonchalant manner during a crisis, enabling them to establish themselves by their reactions rather than thrusting their personality at you. They quickly become rooted in the centre of the action and not left standing around drinking coffee, like random bystanders fleshing out the tale.

Much has happened within these five short chapters already, but the early indicators tell me to expect more outlandish behaviour from the ‘human tailor’ to follow – I am desperate to know if it’s some sick celebrity status they seek to gain from their actions, or another sinister purpose altogether.
