This book is a part of a series of travel books for children and what wonderful books they are!!! This series is a really cool concept making it fun for kids to learn about places to visit and interesting sights to see in a city while looking for monsters in each page of the book! Each page of the book mentions an attraction with an interesting fact or two about it; and your job (well, actually your child’s!) is to find the many monsters lurking on that page (but I competed with mine to find them; and I also need to say, none of my kids are little anymore at fourteen and eleven!!). The monsters are definitely hiding well so it takes some time to find all of them; the number of monsters on each page is helpfully pointed out by the host monster (pictured on the cover as well) at the bottom of the page.
The illustrations are bright, colorful, and fun while also being depicting the landmarks and attractions pretty accurately so that children can use that to recognize the real deal when visiting the city. And I am sure that kids will enjoy pointing out the attractions they have already visited on books they are reading.
And the message that I think we can all take from these books – When (and where and how) cute little comic book monsters have fun exploring the city, we can have fun too – so let us get out and explore!!! I cannot wait to explore – the cities; and also more of these books.
I just wish that these books could have had a few more pages listing a few more attractions, to make them lots more fun.
A couple of comments on each one of this book
New York – again, familiarity made the heart grow fonder here – having visited New York twice now (though over a decade ago), the landmarks were ones I could identify with and bring back memories; next up, visit them with the kids. And make sure we mark off all the spots in this book!

My kids love look and find books and this a great take on them. It is great to introduce New York to kids that are going. They can find the monsters in the pictures and then when they visit some of the places in the book are familiar to them.

I know I am going to write exact same review which I have written for Chicago version but feeling is same so is the review.

My kid loves tiny cute mosteres and minions. This book was his favorite fun activity. He went through pages and find out monster hidden in various places. This series is good to develop visual observation in kids.

Children will enjoy this cute "seek and find" book set in New York City. It's basically a Where's Waldo with monsters. Would have like to see more NYC sites listed in the book, though.

This was cute, and would be perfect for introducing NYC's highlights to children, especially if they were going to be visiting soon. The monsters were all unique and oftentimes funny - but I just wish there was an answer key, or hints, included at the end - as there were actually a few monsters that I couldn't find!

Adorable search and find book with some of the Big Apple's most famous landmarks. I must admit some of the cute little monsters were hard to find! Great activity for kids who have been to NYC or are going there.

This is absolutely an awesome book. The whole series is actually. The kids and I have read a few of the books from the series. The kids love finding all of the monsters on each page and I love that they get a lesson about things in each of the cities. These books are fun for the kids and the parents both.

This book is about exploring New York City. All of the main sites are listed throughout the book. You get to see the Statue of Liberty, The empire State Building, Grand Central Station and more. There is a small paragraph written about each site. Also there are Monsters hidden all over the place. There is a spot on each page telling yo how many Monsters to find.

I received this book from the Author or Publisher via Netgalley.com to read and review.

This would be good for a kid going to visit New York. I think for the most part, it will attract kids because of the "Find the Monster" part of the book. This isn't a bad thing. It's a good way to expose the kids to the New York features and they will absorb at least some of it without realizing it.

A 5 year old and a 6 year old had a great time reading this book. The fun part is that you can ease the kids into reading based on their level. You can ask them to find the monsters. some are right in the view and some are tough t find, so it is tough. It improves remembering, counting.
The 6 year old had fun reading the book too. In such a fun activity, you forget that they are learning about a place too. for future visits, you can get the kids to draw their own search-and-find sites.

Very Engaging.

New York City Monsters: A Search-and-Find Book is written by Anne Paradis and illustrated by Lucile Danis Drouot. This book is part of the City Monsters series, which "takes you on a sightseeing adventure. Find the hidden little monsters as you discover big-city landmarks."

As an interactive story, children will learn about the city of New York, as they search and find adorable monsters throughout the colorful illustrations of city landmarks, such as the Empire State Building, Central Park Zoo, Brooklyn Bridge, Times Square, and the Statue of Liberty.

According to the back cover, "The City So Nice They Named It Twice attracts people from all over the world...even little monsters.... Have fun spotting them all as you explore some of New York City's most iconic landmarks and sights!"

This easy-to-read book is a charming children's travel book, which is geared towards younger readers, particularly ages three to eight.

Note: I received this book from NetGalley, which is a program designed for bloggers to write book reviews in exchange for books, yet the opinions expressed in this review are my own.

This was a sweet book in which the reader has to spot monsters hidden in different locations around New York City. I enjoyed the illustrations although I would have preferred if the book was longer, therefore including more locations. That said, the big tourist locations were all mentioned.

Locations and events included: The Statue of Liberty, Times Square, American Museum of Natural History, Central Park Zoo, 5th Avenue, the Empire State Building, Brooklyn Bridge, the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade, iceskating at Rockefeller Center and Grand Central Station.

The monsters were unique and hidden at different levels of difficulty. I spent much too long trying to spot the final monster in the American Museum of Natural History and began to worry that I was going to be stumped by a book aimed at children. Sometimes they are right in front of you and you don't even notice!

This would be a great book for any children traveling to NYC for the first time. I would recommend it more for traveling in November-December than other times of year, as two of the ten spreads are dedicated to events only held towards the end of the year.

Bright landscapes of Noo Yawk are interspersed with info bubbles and monsters for you to find in a Where’s Waldo fashion. Some are pretty tricky, like the one dressed in a business suit on the street. Toward the end I missed some, much to my everlasting chagrin; some three-year-old is bound to find it and make my embarrassment complete.

My grandson, who is five, and I love this book. He listens intently whilst I read the words and scans the pages looking for the hidden monsters. Not only does it introduce him to new cities around the world, it makes it fun seeking the sneaky little monsters dotted about the beautiful illustrations.

Monsters in New York City!? Yep, and they just happen to like all the same destinations as us humans. This book is a great travel guide for kids. It makes New York City interesting and fun. Great illustrations and pretty well hidden monsters. Not to mention it is an interactive book that helps kids be more perceptive as they try to find all the monsters.

Loved this book! My 4 year old had a fantastic time searching out the monsters, and it also entertained my older kids while they were learning a bit more about New York City.

The setting is listed in the title: NEW YORK MONSTERS, and inside this sturfy board book, friendly monsters are hiding amongst the city's landmarks. The goal is to find all the monsters hiding at each location. The author has included the number of monsters to be found on each layout which is a bonus for both children and their parents. This way they know they didn't miss any.

This book is beautifully illustrated and the bright colours are sure to grab any child's attention.

I am 100% sure that children will fall in love with the cute little monsters hiding all over New York City.

It doesn't matter where you live, this book is still guaranteed to be a hit. Of course, for residents and visitors to New York City it provides even more fun as they can visit all the locations shown in the book.

Adults will also have fun finding the monsters (even if they don't admit it.)

I give this book 5 out of 5 Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

What a delightful way to pique the interest and engage young children in a discussion about New York City. In the style of "Where's Waldo?", children are encouraged to look for eight monsters, one on each page of the book. "New York Monsters", text by Anne Paradis and illustrated by Lucile Danis Drouot takes us on a tour of Times Square with its bright city lights, plethora of visitors, double decker tour buses and traditional hot dog stands. We view dinosaur skeletons at the American Museum of Natural History and the ice skating rink at Rockefeller Center. The full saturation illustrations are amazing! The monster request provides an opportunity to count in descending order supplying a math lesson as well.

"New York City Monsters" is a fun book to read before a city trip, to revisit the city experience or to learn about a city different from one's city, village or hometown. An excellent resource for parents and teachers alike.

Thank you Chouette Publishing and Net Galley for the opportunity to read and review "New York City Monsters".

One of the reasons that I like these books, is that they have a format. They always include places to see animals, places to go shopping, something of historical significance, a type of museum, and then a culturally significant area. They are all the same, but at the same time they are as unique as the city that they are visiting.
