I realized this wasn't a book that would work for me before I downloaded it. Clearing out my backlog of Archived, Not Downloaded.

This book reminded me why I got hooked on Urban Fantasy in the first place. It's dark, fast-paced and witty. The genre is just so dynamic that it's easy to get stuck in it and not venture out to meet other genres. For a time I only ever read urban fantasy books and as I've said before on my social media sites - I've got a weakness for kickass protagonists of the female variation.

If you're looking for a great story and a good portrayal of the succubus entity I very much recommend checking this out! In fact, when it comes to urban fantasy in general, Yasmine Galenorn is a powerhouse. Anything by her is recommended.

Yasmine Galenorn has all the elements in a story that I love. She even had a character that could feel inside your soul and bring out the tattoo that best suits your personality. Brilliant and unique that was! It wasn't the story that fell short. It was the storyteller. For me, Galenorn missed the mark.

I was bored with the story. It lacked suspense, action, and humor. Galenorn lacks in connecting feelings into her writing. Her style was very bland. The characters had no depth and all the characters seemed the same.

This story mostly revolved around that damn house, tea, and food. The "men" were constantly cooking and serving the women. Hurt your knee? You need some tea and toast! Yasmine Galenorn focused far too heavily on this.

Exciting new series from Ms. Galenorn, Lily O'Connell hooks a reader in and bewitches them. Lily is a demon, specifically as succubus. She sells her body to men willing to pay for her skills. This is the only way she can keep herself fed, especially as her clientele are filled with paranormal men. This is, until a well known client is murdered and causes a lot of trouble for her.

I liked Lily. She is a down on her luck just trying to make it in the world, in spite of her draw backs. She tries to do the right thing and yet she is constantly kicked in the teeth for it. It burns me how poorly people treat a woman who sells her body. If Lily knew she could do something different, she would. She isn't hurting anyone and she certainly isn't going out seducing men which technically she could as a succubus. I'm angry at women who blame the "other woman" when it is really their husbands they need to take to task. Picking on Lily because they have wandering husbands? I am disgusted with these petty women who can not satisfy their own husbands so that the men have to go else where to find what they need. I hope these women choke on their jealousy. Still, this does not feed Lily and she is in dire need of food. When a vampire helps her and she learns that the death of her client deals with her past, things get pretty complicated.

This story is awesome for me because there are several subplots going on at the same time. This keeps my attention riveted because I enjoy multi-threaded stories. The world building in here is nifty and I like how Lily's past and ties to the Fae court are revealed. This supernatural world is pretty standard with the usual vampire, fae and shifter stories. It is easy to understand and pick up who is who and why there are enemies and allies. Lily needs as many allies because one cheated on wife is irrationally ganging up on Lily. I can only hope Lily's new found occupation will turn her into a BAMF soon. Lily is going to need to learn how to kick butt quickly.

This first book in the series is action packed and starring a character I like. I am eager to read more in this series and can not wait to see how Lily develops under the Queen's protection. This new urban fantasy is recommended to readers who enjoy a tarnished heroine who wants to be left alone.

While the premise alludes to an original and exciting book, the reality was far from that. Pretty uninspiring and boring

4.5 Stars

Souljacker is a fantastic beginning to what looks to be a great new urban fantasy series.

Lily is smart, snarky and a succubus. She’s fun and feisty. Lily runs Lily Bound. A salon that will cater to clients and in return Lily is able to feed on the chi she needs without harming. I liked Lily. There is a uniqueness to her that I enjoyed. Her personality shines, she cares deeply and is willing to take on the would. Lily is challenged from the first pages of the book, causing exciting and unexpected changes in her life.

One of things that I love about Ms. Galenorn’s work is her world building. The settle and atmosphere of the story are like a character themselves. Rich details allow the reader to perfectly visualize the world in which they have stepped into. Ms. Galenorn’s personal touch to myth and legend adds to a creative and unique feel to the story. Secondary characters play just as important of a role to the story as do the primary. There’s a vast array of personality and paranormal creatures to touch on everyone’s tastes. Not to mention readers do get some pretty steamy naughtiness as an added bonus.

I really enjoyed Souljacker. Ms. Galenorn offers up something a bit different and thoroughly enjoyable. The cast of characters make the story. ghosts, satyrs, witches and vamps. That’s just the beginning. Souljacker is a fast moving read. Darker in nature with some funny moments. If you’re looking for something a bit different in a paranormal I highly recommend Souljacker.

Lily O'Connell finds herself in a world of hurt when one of her clients winds up dead. As a succubus, Lily is dependent on clientele to help her let off steam and feed. The client gets a good time and Lily doesn't wind up killing anyone, something which has haunted her past. Lily and her friends quickly realize they're in danger as a dangerous person from their past has escaped prison and is now out seeking the artwork he's tattooed on clients. Lily teams up with Archer Desmond to try and sparks fly between the two of them. There's quite a lot of turmoil in Lily's life but Archer seems to be her calm, will she let herself fall for him? Has she learned from the past?

I'm sorry to say that I didn't finish this book. I have been a huge fan of Yasmine's for years and have a long list of her books on my shelf and my 'read' shelf on Goodreads. However this book, while having an interesting blurb, put me off within the first few pages.

I was sure that this was the first in a new series and I have't checked if I am mistaken but I felt like I was missing something. I had the feeling like there was information I should have known before starting to read Souljacker. I was lost and confused within minutes and I struggled to understand what was going on and then I just gave up. While the story seemed interesting enough and Galenorn's idea the writing and style didn't fit the author.

Lily O'Connell is a succubus and owns a sex salon. When one of her clients is murdered by a vampire, not only is her reputation tarnished, but her life is at stake. The murderer is an insane tattoo artist that escaped a prison for the criminally insane supernaturals, and he is going after everyone that he ever gave a tattoo to. This includes Lily and many of her close friends. The police can't do much for this case, so she is referred to the private investigator Archer Desmond, who is also a chaos demon.

There is a wide range of supernatural creatures: the fae, vampires, weres, demons, witches, and ghosts as well as humans. They all interact in this world, mostly uneasily, and in a realistic manner. There were discussions about property ownership, citizenship, how the laws interact with the supernaturals, as well as the fae courts. The relationships between all of the characters were really well done, slowly unfolding and giving more information and backstory as we went further into the book. Lily discovered more about behind the scenes events as she dug into the investigation. She doesn't have superhuman strength, agility, intelligence or any of those kinds of powers. She does have the power inherent in her succubus nature, which is to charm others and to draw in their chi, or life force. That allows her to heal from some of the damage dealt, but that doesn't mean she can combat all of her obstacles on her own.

This is the beginning of a new series of books by Ms. Galenorn, and the dovetailing of the different supernatural creatures reminds me a bit of the October Daye books. This will hopefully shape up to be a series just as good because this is a great start.

Lily O’Connell, a succubus, owns Lily Bound, an elite sex salon in the Blood Night District of Seattle. When a client is murdered in her house, a patch of skin missing from his chest, she knows there’s something evil afoot. Then comes the news that the Souljacker—a tattoo-artist-turned-vampire—has escaped from an institution for criminally deranged Supernaturals. And he’s hunting and killing everyone he has ever inked.

Truth be told I enjoyed the book, I love Yasmine's work and this is no exception. I liked Lily and loved the twist in her world. The only thing I had a problem with was I kind of expected her to be a little more... bad assed. But the book was still good I enjoyed all the characters and the world that was built. Great read!

Souljacker by Yasmine Galenorn is book one in her Lily Bound series. In this book we are introduced a succubus by the name of Lily. Lily is living in the Seattle area and has just had a client killed in her business and it’s one of her most prominent clientele which makes it worse. What takes things up a notch is that this murder is done by a vampire and no vampire should have been able to get into her home/business because of the wards set up around but he got in and trouble has come busting into Lily’s life. With the death of the head were-tiger Lily has all sorts of trouble stampeding into her life from an angry widow, to have her business tanked, to a dangerous vampire with a broken mind on the loose and with the delusion that reclaiming his work will help heal him. Souljacker is back and being turned into a vampire has broken him but instead of being staked like other vampire killers palms were greased to keep him alive and now he’s broken out of prison and is on the loose hunting down those who he tattooed in a delusional drive to reclaim his work on their skin in the hope that it will cure what being turned took from him. Lily is soon tasked by Wynter, the Dark Fae queen, to find and destroy Souljacker since all know that the police will do nothing to stop him because of the Deadfather and those who are in his pocket as he works to have vampires be the “top dogs” of the world and the rest as food. Lily and those that she cares about are twice over targets – targets for Souljacker as they each wear ink done by him and then again by the Were community in league with a broken and angry widow who is out to destroy Lily for her husband’s indiscretions. Will Lily be able to come out of this alive or will she lose some skin and much more along the way?
Souljacker is such an engaging read that it will keep you riveted from the moment you pick it up until well after it has ended. In this book, the Fae and Weres have come out of the closet and humans have managed to accept them for the most part. But when the vampires come out things don’t go as smoothly. Treaties are hashed out but vampires don’t see the need to follow the rules and are looking to write their own and make the world their own personal smorgasbord. Being a succubus Lily needs to feed regularly on strong energy to live but when a client is murdered and his wife learns about his dalliances Lily’s carefully constructed and worked for client list takes a hit as most are Weres and they each cancel one after the other to stand with their fellow Weres. But things are already changing for Lily as she requests the help of PI by the name of Archer who is a chaos demon. He means to help her out and the sparks flying between them (literally) are more than an added bonus.
I have to say that this book is full of surprises which I really love. We get flashbacks to the past not just for Lily but we also learn about her relationship with her cat, her ex-fiancée and how things came to be for her and all of them. I love the characters in this book and how well they all work together and come together. There are so many dynamics in this book that make it such a great read and yet another favorite book on my list by this dynamic author.
This story is well written and really flows well. The characters are familiar yet unique and you just want to learn more and more about them. I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. I know that it will be awhile before the next book in this series but I do know that when the next Lily Bound book comes out that I will be eagerly anticipating it and will have it on my list of books to snap up.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for a voluntary review.

SOULJACKER is a fun and at times dark paranormal romance novel. Obviously since the main character is a succubus, this book has a lot of sex since Lily needs it to survive. While there is a burgeoning romance that is pretty steamy I really enjoyed the thriller aspect of the story with the hunt for an extra creepy vampire serial killer who is after basically all of the main characters you get to know and grow somewhat attached to. The world building surrounding this plot is pretty neat and the politics/realities of magical beings and humans is realistic (or as realistic as it can be...). I really enjoyed the fae world and would love to read more about this aspect in future books.

At first I was confused as to what was going on with the story as they kept referring to a character and past events linked to the serial killings so much that I kept checking if I was on the first book in the series or not. Eventually the full flashback of just what was going on were revealed and everything made sense. While reading SOULJACKER I was a bit annoyed at this but in the end I kind of appreciated how the reveals and story unfolded. It was a unique way of unraveling information.

SOULJACKER has plenty of tense action and thrilling moments that will keep you wanting to turn the page faster to see what happens next. I enjoyed learning more about Lily and the major change in her life that she goes through in SOULJACKER has me curious enought to want to see what happens in the next book in this series.

The Listed books below I didn't finish because I either lost interest or didn't like them to finish them!

Not bad but completely unmemorable. Lily was a succubus who entertained men for a living. A vicious vampire called the souljacker killed one of her clients at her house. This set off a chain of events. Lily's rep was ruined and her business failed. The weres were after her because of the guy that died. The souljacker was after her and her friends, so she worked with a demon Archer to get some info.

I had a hard time connecting with the characters. I didn't care about any of them. Their lives were in danger at times, but it didn't really matter if they lived or died because it wouldn't have been any great loss. All of them except for Nate were supernatural, but they all seemed so normal. Lily was supposed to be over 600 years old but seemed like she should have been in her 20's. For someone who had lived so long she lacked the skills to read people and to defend herself. Archer the love interest and chaos demon was boring. Nate served no real purpose except to give Lily another friend. Dani was her other friend. Nothing stood out about her. The introduction of Lily's ex was lame. It didn't create a love triangle, but he was boring. He served a purpose, but I still wish he hadn't been in the story at all.

The souljacker was crazy. All of the vampires were described as heartless killers, so the souljacker wasn't as extreme as he was made out to be. The weres created drama. Since they were unreasonable jerks, I couldn't get behind their cause, and therefore they were uninteresting. There wasn't any build up with the romance. It was instalove. I wasn't feeling it between them. I liked this well enough that I read it quickly, but it's not likely I'll read the next one.

An urban fantasy that has vampires, werewolves and the Fay all living out in the open. When a talented tattoo artist is turned into a vampire and escapes out of the aslym he has been locked in his former clients become his new prey. The Souljacker is hunting his clients down to remove his art from them since he is no longer inspired to create art since he was turned. Lily is a succubus and one of his former clients. When her Fey Queen commands her to track down the killer she has to obey.

This is the start of a new series and the start of a new chapter in Lily’s life. She has friends and in this book picks up a new job for her Queen and a steady love interest as well.

A fun light read and I’ll be looking for more of these.

Souljacker: A Lily Bound Novel Kindle Edition
by Yasmine Galenorn
I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
A solid sexy new series is born with a heroine who has a fascinating past and brilliant future.
Succubus Lily (very clever, Ms. Galenorn) , has found her place in a very dangerous dystopian Seattle, were Weres, Demons, Fae and Humans live in fear of the newly outed vampires. These vampires are not the lovable shiny kind, rather they are deadly predators who left their humanity at the coffin and have infiltrated the government and big business, to the point where the police are no longer solving vampire murders and a less than honest President has ordered Congress to give vampires full human rights, so killing one would be murder.
If that weren't enough, Lily's latest client, Tygur, a Weretiger is murdered by a vampire while in her home, turning the Were community against her.
More Urban Fantasy than Paranormal Romance, we are taken on a tightenly written, well imagined tour of a new universe by a true master of the two genres.
Ms. Galenorn is able to take what are well trod tropes and make them fresh, with a character who is a survivor but not some superpowered or ultra-trained special agent. Lily is your average, every day succubus trying to survive with a little damage to her heart or the world around her.
The dialogue is fresh, each character has his or her own voice. And the POV character, Lily is old enough to be strong but not hardened.
The scattered lovemaking is well written, and just right. Not so graphic as to cause a shudder but fitting with the characters involved. And the spark between them is clearly laid and perfect.
A solid 5 out of 5

Yasmine Galenorn has started a new series with succubus Lily Bound as the heroine. Souljacker, the tattoo artist who inked tattoos for Lily and others in Seattle, was bitten by a vampire and converted to a mad vampire; he is tracking down everyone who has his tattoos, killing them and taking back the tattoos. Meanwhile Lily has run afoul of the local weres and has been tasked by the winter fae queen with eliminating Souljacker. Smoking hot paranormal romance with lots of action.

I love Urban Fantasy and I wanted to try Yasmine Galenorn's books because I've heard good things about her writing. I also love books about succubi/incubi and always get excited when I see one because these mythical creatures are underrepresented in UF/Paranormal Romance. Therefore I was very excited when I came across Sauljacker. I was a little underwhelmed though once I finished the book. The characters were a bit boring, and lacked sparks and chemistry. Lily is a succubus and Archer is a chaos demon so you would think they would have sparks flying but their interactions were just plain boring. As a succubus Lily needs sexual energy to feed and Archer is the perfect candidate to provide it to her so it would make sense for them to be together. But I was not a fan of their insta-lust, as soon as they met they just stared going at it like rabbits. There was no anticipation, no sexual tension, no building up to their relationship. Also for a chaos demon, Archer was way too nice and bland. Don't get me wrong, I love nice heroes but it doesn't really work for a non-human, chaos-wrecking creature.
Also UF books that I enjoy are full of action, humor, and snarky characters, but unfortunately Sauljacker lacked all of these. There was hardly any action and no humor whatsoever. Sauljacker had a lot of potential to be a great UF but the execution fell flat.

This is the first Yasmine Galenorn book that I have read but it most certainly will not be the last, I have already made a start on acquiring some of the authors back catalogue.
A great start to a new series, I am really looking forward to the next Lily novel, but not looking forward to the wait. Hoping to get to know more about Archer's back story and seeing how Lily manages the training that Wynter has planned for her and wondering if there will be any fallout from her dealing with the Weres. Great book.
