Fun and sexy, Hot Shot is another great entry in Kelly Jamieson's Aces Hockey series. Highly recommended.

Received an ARC from NetGalley for an honest review.

So stinking cute. Watching Carrie and Marco go from annoyed at one another to hooking up to more was just a fun ride. And once again, the characters that Jamieson built around them really made the couple so much more likeable and real. I'm really interested to see what happens with Cade...

HOT SHOT - Kelly Jamieson

#2 in the Last Shot romance series

GREAT CHARACTERS - 4 stars

Plot - 4 stars - Marco, one of the owners of Conquistadors, feels like a loser, but he's still attracted to the gorgeous model who is friends with Hayden. Carrie, although beautiful, still thinks of herself as the awkward kid, so she doesn't think Marco will like her. As their "hatred" builds, so does the sexual tension.

Writing - 4 stars - As always, Jamieson grabs my attention right from the first page. Although I had already read the first book in this series, it's been a long time, so it was like starting over, but I still felt right at home.

Characters - 4.5 stars - This is where the story shone for me. Marco is hot, sexy, and determined, but he's also very vulnerable because of his past. I like that he's kind and understanding despite his gruff exterior. Carrie, who seems together on the outside, actually has confidence problems and can't seem to figure out what she wants to do with her life. But she's always looking out for others and has a sweet heart. I loved them together (despite their initial animosity) and was rooting for their success.

Title - 4 stars - This follows along with the theme of the series, referring to the shots of tequila at the bar as well as the hot relationship between the two of them.

Cover - 4 stars - The bright yellow cover catches the eye, and the sexy embrace definitely tells us what to expect within the book.

Overall - 4 stars - Jamieson is one of my favorite go-to authors, and this book is another win for me. The characters are attractive and enjoyable, their relationship builds at just the right speed, and the underlying problems they each have make sense and help define their personalities. All together, a very pleasant read.

I enjoyed several books by Kelly jamieson in the past, especially her Hockey stories, but the "Last shot" series couldn't really tick my box.

I really liked the setting with the three friends and the bar they are owning. In the second book we meet Marco and Carrie, she is the best friend of Hayden.
Unfortunately I never felt a connection with Marco and Carrie. The development of their relationship felt rushed on the one side and dragging on the other. The story as well as the characters felt very distant to me.

I had the feeling that not very much is happening throughout the story and everything remained on almost the same level, with hardly any ups and downs. I liked there wasn't that much drama but often felt pretty boring too.

I won't read the last book in this series and will rather stick with the author's hockey romances.

I enjoyed reading Hot Shot even though I had a hard time getting into both Marco and Carrie. For some unknown reason, I could not see or feel the connection between the two of them. I felt like there was some major “game playing” going on between the two of them right from the start and wasn’t really sure if I understood them getting together.

Carrie hated Marco. She didn’t like the way he looked at her. She didn’t like the way he flirted with her. But, her best friend is marrying his best friend and there is nothing that she can do about being in his presence. Until she sees a side of him that she never expected … the soft, vulnerable side.

Marco always thought that Carrie was beautiful but he couldn’t understand why she hated him. He was nice to her, respected her, saw beyond her beauty to her inner self. But, she wouldn’t even give him the time of day. He knows that there is chemistry between them and knows that she can feel it too but refuses to give in to it.

As they both get to know each other, the spark catches fire and they both give in to a romp, a little fling that will only last until Carrie leaves. Unfortunately, there is a big misunderstanding and they have to pretend to really be together. This is the last thing either of them want but, it truly makes Carrie stand-up and notice Marco. She finally understands his love of all things family, why he has an insecure side that no one sees and just how wonderful a man he really is. Marco, too, sees another side of Carrie and can’t believe that she is as uncertain about herself as she is.

I loved the ending of Hot Shot. Marco finally stole my heart. Believe me, he had to work to do that. Carrie, I understood but still could not connect with her. Like usual with Kelly Jamison, the writing was fluid and crisp but I felt like there was something missing. If I could name it, I would but, I can’t.

This was a decent story and I somewhat enjoyed both the hero and the heroine, Marco and Carrie. However, nothing really stood out making it a great book.

I loved the first book and was very much excited for this one, but it didn't work for me. I just didn't feel the deep connection with Carrie and Marco that I felt with the main characters of the first book. They don't really listen to each other, so things need to be mentioned multiple times before the characters catch a clue. Carrie keeps saying they hate each other, when Marco has repeatedly told and showed her he doesn't. I didn't appreciate Carrie's personality. The whole model with low self-esteem thing didn't work for me and it was mentioned way too much. I liked Marco, but he still didn't really draw me in. The sex scenes are still hot as with the first book, but I didn't like how this book has the same type of no strings scenario as the first book. The stuff with Carrie's family also didn't engage me. It was an okay read and the writing is fine; the book just didn't connect with me. I rated the first book 5 stars and I loved that one a lot more than this one, so I'm doing a 3 star here. I still liked the friendships in this book and loved seeing more of Beck and Hayden. Loved the artist aspect and would've actually loved to read more about Marco working on his sculptures. I don't really like Cade; the male lead for the next book, because he sleeps around a lot, but I still want to give the next book a try.

While I really enjoyed Long Shot, book one in this series, Hot Shot just wasn't as good. I didn't really care for Marco.

The second book in the Last Shot series, this book can be read as a standalone however reading all books within the series does provide the reader with extra background information about the characters that enhances the reading experience.

This book follows Marco and Carrie, who are opposites in many ways. The author does an amazing job in giving the characters depth, explaining why Marco and Carrie are the way they are. Marco knows what he wants - he wants a successful Tequila bar and Carrie, who is a model turned photographer who is still trying to find her way in a new creative career. When the two are together, they fight hard but also love harder. Reading the story of these two, I couldn't put the book down, not that I am surprised given that this author is fast becoming one of my all time favorites.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

The first book in this series was great, but Marco and Carrie just did not work for me. He was too obnoxious and the chemistry between the two felt forced.

Marco is an ex Navy Seal and is part owner of a bar with his friend Beck. Hayden is Beck's girlfriend and Carrie's bestfriend. Carrie has plan to move away to Spain but things get steamy between herself and Marco, so does she follow her dreams to go to design school or her heart that seems to enjoy all things Marco?? Hot Shots can be read as a standalone with no cliffhanger.

*4.5 stars*
Emotional roller coaster….
From the first page to the last this was an emotional ride that had my stomach in knots and my heart completely invested. Bizzy and Shaw have been friends for years. Their relationship had been bonded in a way that few are and involved more than just the two of them. When Shaw’s feelings for her turned to forever love, Bizzy could hardly believe it.
“I think you are my dream…”
Or imagine it could last without tearing them, and their families, apart…
I equally loved and feared this book. I worried and stressed about what the characters were going through. Agonized over each decision they made. There was more at stake than just their relationship, as if that wasn’t risky enough, and you felt the threat of those losses all the way through. From the beginning, Bizzy faced her demons and fears head on, with humour and spirit enough to inspire the same from everyone around her. She was kind and understanding, thoughtful, and carried it off without being over the top sickly sweet. Shaw matched Bizzy with his loving nature and complete devotion to her and his family. When things got rough, and they got rough, the humanness that they both revealed, outlined their imperfections in a way that made them somehow even more perfect.
There was family I wanted for my own and a bestie that everyone deserves in their corner. While the protagonist may have been painted an evil that at times was exhausting, the resulting drama allowed this story to become the emotional powerhouse it was. I want to read it all over again!

Not-quite enemies to lovers done wonderfully. Marco and Carrie were the ones to watch from the beginning of this series, and their book didn't disappoint. They fought their demons hard, and helped each other fight as well. Sexy and sweet with all the feels!

In the end, was a bit too sugary sweet for my taste.

Carrie and Marco seemingly don’t get along well with each other. But when they get together to plan their friends Beck and Hayden’s engagement party, a lot of things come to light and along with their attraction. As they start getting close, how will Marco, who has estrangement issues, handle Carrie’s move to Madrid to study photography for the better part of a year.
I loved Hot Shot. It was a story about friendship, relations and love. I enjoyed the way they help each other overcome their issues and find HEA. Hot Shot was a sweet, sexy and emotional read and I can’t wait for Cade story.

Marco and Carrie can't decide whether to love each other, hate each other, or just ignore each other. I'm not quite sure why they feel any of those 3 to be honest. That said, once they give in to their animos-lust the story starts flowing quicker. They're two sexy, strong-willed, stubborn people and it's not always easy. They talk but not always about feelings or their relationship which leads to some avoidable moments. I wish their had been more relationship development in the final third of the story because I did love the last couple of chapters and thought I should have had the feeling more often throughout the book.

Marco and Carrie just can't seem to get along, but for the sake of their best friends attempt to be civil while they plan an engagement party for them. The close proximity forces them to view the other in a different light and learn to see what is under those carefully laid layers. Coincidently they have a lot more in common than they realize. Of course, their mutual attraction is off the charts and giving in is easier than resisting.

What they didn't plan for is falling for each other. It was just supposed to be a fun "romp". But Carrie has dreams that she needs to fulfill and in spite of Marco's belief that everyone leaves him, he decides to get out of her way so that she can achieve her dreams, leaving both of them broken-hearted.

I received an Advanced Reader's Copy from NetGalley for voluntary review consideration.

Marco Solis is not sure why every time he is in Carrie Garner's presence he ends up pushing her further away. Carrie is beautiful and Marco can't help but being attracted to her but she hates him.

Carrie is a model and used to being hit on, Marco's lines are just another reminder that gentleman don't exist. Carrie grew up awkward and not part of the clique groups, she doesn't want to be fawned over. However she doesn't realize she is wrong about Marco and when they join forces to throw a shower for their friends they come up with a no strings attached relationship that will satisfy them both, problem is they become attached and with Carrie leaving the country can Marco let her go?

I really enjoyed this story. I felt for Marco because he initially blows it with Carrie but when she gets to know him she sees a different side. I knew there was a story behind Marco's demeanor and it was fascinating see it unfold. Great read.
