Marco and Carrie's best friends are dating, so these two are constantly hanging out. Marco develops feelings for Carrie, but doesn't act on them initially because she plans to leave the country soon to study abroad. After a series of events, the two act on their feelings.

This was a good read. Kelly Jamieson is one of my favorite author's and I enjoyed reading this story.

The plot has been done so many times, the guy and girl can't stand each other, but eventually like each other. The dialog was good though with humor interspersed throughout...though I wasn't particularly fond of Marco's dropping the "f" bomb too often and his choice of words he used to describe having sex with Carrie. At times it made me feel as if he had no respect for her.

Marco and Carrie's chemistry was good, and their push-pull relationship was entertaining...but it was difficult to read how down on themselves they were. All in all, it was an OK story.

Marco is a former SEAL and current bar owner, along with his SEAL buddies. Due to his family being deported and a fiancé who betrayed him, Marco commits to living the bachelor life forever. You can't get hurt if you don't let someone get close, right?

Carrie is Hayden's best friend, from book one, and a supermodel. Her former life wasn't always so glamourous and she and her best friend spent most of their awkward teenage years being ridiculed. Carrie has a difficult time accepting compliments and still carries her lack of self-esteem with her despite how she looks now.

Marco and Hayden have mutual friends that keep pushing them together. At first, due to Carrie's lack of self confidence, anytime Marco approaches Carrie, she things he is teasing her. They develop a friend-emie type of relationship until they each start finding themselves wanting to spend more time with one another. With Carrie leaving for a 9 month photography course, however, its the perfect time for a no strings attached affair. It's works out perfectly for both of them until feelings actually develop and grow....

Cute book! I read the first book prior to reading this ARC just to have background knowledge. This can be read as a stand-alone, however, I recommend reading them in order as the first book does introduce these characters!

There is a thin line between love and hate. Carrie knows she loathes Marco, from their first meeting she feels like she is being mocked. Marco just can't cut a break when he lists after what he didn't think he's good enough to obtain. But it all changes when they start to let the barriers fall and put a timetable on their tryst. Because what may have appeared to be hate was smoking chemistry that couldn't be denied. The second installment in the series gives us more insight into all the characters as they progress through life. The guys are family and you want to see happy endings for them all.

Great job! Loved the ending where Marco finally sees his true feelings and is finally willing to risk it all.

I really enjoy Kelly Jamieson's writing style. Her characters are well developed and she provides interesting, realistic dialogue. I enjoyed the developing relationship between Marco and Carrie and their artistic connection was believable and interesting--and something a bit different. I'm looking forward to the next book in her series.

God just love a navy seal even if he's a former one. Macro has problems with getting to close to people coz when he does they get taken away from his life, like his parents getting sent back to Mexico and his former fiancé married someone else while he was away on duty and his best friend who has fallen in love with Carrie best friend. That's how these two get together as they want each other but don't want to as he's afraid she will leave an she will want to stay when she wants to go to Spain to become a photographer which is her dream. But you just can't stop wanting these two together as they are so hot, sexy an funny when they are near each other. Fell in love with this story and can't wait for more. Was very well written and fantastic read. Again Kelly Jamieson has out done herself. Love this author and her books would recommend all of them.

Ummm, does anyone else desperately want to belly up to the Conquistadors Tequila Bar?!? Seriously.  Three hot, badass owners, fabulous booze and a crazy group of patrons to get to know.  I want in!

I loved going back to this group of characters in Hot Shot - especially since we're getting to know Marco. He was sexy and mysterious in the first book - hella enticing. He has lead an interesting life and has some pretty serious baggage. Putting his trust in others is definitely not easy for him.

Marco is coupled with Carrie, the best friend of couple from the first book, Body Shot. She's a model who has aspirations of being more than just being a pretty face. Both in her career and in her love life.

The sexual tension between these two is off the charts off. Wooziers. I loved them together. But they both really struggle to find their way in their new relationship. It's both annoying and realistic.

Overall, I thought Hot Shot was an excellent romance. Marco and Carrie gave me all the feels and their journey toward finding solace and happiness is can't miss reading.  Definitely pick up a copy of this book.

Hot Shot is a great addition to the Last Shot series. Marco is so sensitive, I just didn't expect that. And Carrie is so caring, always looking for ways to help someone or make someone's life a little easier and happier. Together they make such a good couple.
Hot Shot could be read as a stand alone, but I think would be enjoyed more if you read Body Shot first. Same characters in both books, and we get a continuation of Becks and Haydens happiness.

This is the second novel in the Last Shot series. Marco is an insecure hunk with abandonment issues, and Carrie is an insecure model, trying to turn pro-photographer.

What I liked most about this novel:
- The setup of the main storyline as Carrie has to decide “should I stay or should I go” as she falls for Marco, making her decision more difficult
- Marco’s ability to rise above adversity (parents and sister taken away, raised in numerous foster homes as basically unwanted)
- I liked that both main characters shared a love of artistic endeavors, the same basic values, and they had good chemistry
- It was a nice surprise to see how Carrie figures out a way to help her mom in a meaningful way
- Loved Grandma Garner – she’s a real hoot

What I didn’t care for so much:
- It was a little odd that both main characters had the same character flaw, makes it a little difficult for one to help the other grow with any confidence
- I can read colorful language all day long, as long as it fits the story, but this was a little too much for me. The language went a bit overboard sometimes, making me wonder if the author has a deep-seeded issue with religion, using phrases like “Christ on the cross” turned me off
- Some of the dialogue during their first sex scene bordered on juvenile, which didn’t fit his character (a savvy businessman, former SEAL, and artist)

Really enjoyed this 2nd book in the Last Shot series. Kelly Jamieson has a way of grabbing your attention in her stories and carrying you along with her. Marco & Carrie's story is no different. They start out at odds with each other but things aren't always what they seem. Insecurities can cause sensible people to do ridiculous things, like applying for a scholarship to a school in Spain & hooking up with someone you know is leaving & that isn't what you want them to do. But we see the vulnerability in both Carrie & Marco as they navigate through their relationship that is thrust upon them by her troubled niece. Pretending to be together so the truth about her nieces misconduct doesn't get back to her sister is one thing but when they start to really care for each other that's something else. Neither is brave enough to admit the truth because neither believes they're worth it, they're blind to what everyone else sees. Definitely recommend this book.

God I love me a hunk of Navy Seal !!!! Even former as Marco is in this tale. Its his and Carrie's story. The couple meet through friends and first impressions are not all that stellar. They give a tentative friendship a try and that's when the real sparks start to fly !!!

Well written, believable story line and enjoyable character development. It was a solid, romantic - acquaintances turn inseparable true lovers story.

5 Hot Stars from Me xx

Well done Kelly and many thanks for this opportunity x

Later peeps xx

So much fun! I really enjoyed Marco and Carrie - they were both dealing with their own insecurities but still supporting each other while falling in love :) I'd missed the first in this series, so this was my introduction to these characters and their group of friends... great cast of people! Definitely going to look for Beck and Haydens story. Two (three?) points about the plot: Can parents really be separated from their children when deported from the US? Is that a real thing? Horrifying, if true. Also - no to the bullfighting. Scene was unnecessary and really tarnished the feel-good vibe of the book. Lastly, Hayden describes a sex position (pretzel?) as doggie style but facing each other. I spent an inordinate amount of time trying to work out the logistics there. I think, by definition, doggy-style is from behind.. so?
Otherwise fab!

Hot Shot is the second book in Kelly Jamieson's Last Shot series and it was a great one! While this book can be read as a standalone, I think you connect more to the characters having read the first book in the series since the main characters, and the principle supporting characters were all in Body Shot.

Marco Solis is one of the three former Navy SEALs that owns Conquistador, a hip tequila bar. Unfortunately for Marco, all he's ever known in his life when it comes to relationships is that they end in loss. His parents were deported when he was fourteen and he and his sister were both put into foster care with her being adopted and him losing touch with her. Couple that with his ex-fiancee marrying someone else while he was deployed and it leaves little room for warm fuzzy feelings where relationships are concerned.

Carries Garner is a model who has always had a bit of a quirky side. She loves photography and while both her modeling and her photography provide a living for her, it's never lived up to what she feels her family expects from her. In order to continue pursuing her passion for photography, she is heading to Spain on a photography grant.

When Marco and Carrie come together to plan an engagement party for their friends Beck and Hayden, will these two people that seemingly can't get along figure out that maybe they have more in common than they realize? Will they figure out that outward appearances might not really tell the story about what is happening in someone else's life?

This was a great story about friendship, love, forgiveness and acceptance. Relationships are hard and I felt like Kelly Jamieson did a fantastic job weaving a story that navigated the landscapes of many different relationships and how each person's perspective can reflect differently upon them. I would highly recommend this book and I can't wait for the third one in the series to come out!

Marco Solis knows better than to get close to anyone. Especially someone like Carrie Garner, his best friend's fiancé's best friend and completely out of his league supermodel. But he can't help how he feels when he is around her. She is sassy, smart and beautiful. Her smile lights up the room and she knows just how to turn his temperature up. Too bad they would never work. Carrie is aware of her quickly ending career. In the fashion world younger faces are money and she isn't a spring chicken anymore. No matter, her dream was never to be a supermodel, even if she is a successful one. What she really wants is to take pictures and to make her family proud. Full of insecurities, she still bristles at being called beautiful. But somehow when Marco says it, it sounds real. Planning a career change, Carrie gets into a photography school in Spain. But the thought of actually leaving her best friend and family behind twists her up inside. Forced to plan an engagement party for Hayden and Beck, Carrie finds herself spending more and more time with the hot Mexican SEAL who is bossy, brooding and sexy as hell. And the more time they spend together, the more a sexy fling with him sounds like an excellent idea. But can their insecurities be put aside for love to blossom? Carrie and Marco's story is hot, intense and with enough laughter to make it a delicious read. Grandma Gardner is a riot and Marco's best friends and partners are perfect. Too bad Marco's sister doesn't make an appearance… I'd love to know whatever happened to her…

Even though I enjoyed reading this book, it would not list near the top as one of my favorites. The story of Marco and Carrie was an okay story. I just didn't care for Marco that much. I also found the book had way too much foul language with too many "F" words. I like more romance instead of just too many detailed sex scenes. I'm not say this is a bad book, it just doesn't suit my taste in a romance book.

Nice addition to the the LastShot storyline with Marco and Carrie. I love how we see that Carrie may be beautiful but she is not comfortable in her own skin and knows her own limitations. Marco is vulnerable yet gives off the vibe or being a sarcastic ass. I loved the fireworks between the two and the snark is strong, as well as the sweet.

After their best friends fall in love, Marco and Carrie both mistake their own sexual tension for intense dislike. Although an undeniable undercurrent of attraction runs through all of their interactions, neither one is willing to admit to anything less than hatred toward the other. When they’re forced together to plan a party for their mutual friends, sparks begin to fly.

Overall, I really liked this book, a lot more than I liked the first book in the series. I felt like we ended up knowing much more about Marco than we did about Carrie, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Marco’s past and insecurities were much better developed than Carrie’s, and although I can sort of see where Carrie’s issues stem from, I wouldn’t have minded learning more about her.

I loved the attraction between Marco and Carrie, and the fact that they only went for it because they thought it had a time limit. Carrie has a trip to Spain scheduled a few weeks after they get together, which provides an easy out, a quick timeline, and protection from any broken hearts. (Or so they think. This is a romance, there are always going to be hurt feelings!)

I don’t have a ton of things to say about this book except that I thought that everybody was really unfair to Carrie. I don’t want to spoil anything, but we find out right away that Carrie has a trip to Spain scheduled, and everybody has an opinion about it. It’s her life, and if she wants to travel and make something of herself, she should be allowed to do that without worrying about what her newlywed best friend, her emotionally distant family, and her brand new lover think. As someone who has let other peoples’ opinions dictate much of my life decisions, I am very passionate about this, and it probably did affect my opinion of the book. (Although four stars is a very good rating for me.)

I really love the group of characters in this series, and I wish their tequila bar was a place I could actually go. I’m excited to see if Cade will get his own book since I would love to see him settle down and be happy.
