What child doesn't like stories of princesses?
Princess Lila has everything she could want. But she's not quite happy with everything since what she really wants is to see beyond the kingdom walls. What kind of world is on the other side? She is forbidden to go on the other side of those walls as it is dangerous but that doesn't stop her determination.
With help she builds an observation tower so she can see for herself what is on the other side.
This is such a cute story that will likely appeal more to a girl than a boy. It has beautiful illustrations although for me, the story ended abruptly and there were a few words in there that would need defining to a child. There's a couple of messages this book can give to a child; you can have a lot of "things" and still not be happy, learning to think outside the box, and the importance of teamwork.
I received the Ebook free from net galley and the publisher in exchange of an honest review.

My review is based on a black-and-white Kindle version. The illustrations naturally do not show at their best on a small screen in black and white. But they look charming and should be very appealing when in color. The story is simple and effective, telling a tale of a determined little princess who doesn't let obstacles stop her from achieving the thing she wants most. Not stubborn, not willful, not disobedient, just creative and hard-working and determined. A good tale showing how obstacles can be overcome with patience and determination.

Princess Lila wants to explore. What child doesn't? Princess Lisa encounters a block to her desires. Also, something children can relate to. So with this hook, how does Princess Lila respond? Being industrious and creative, she sets to work on a plan.

I like the message this book sends to children. The illustrations are cute and engaging. I look forward to receiving this book.

I like that the princess wants to build a tower so that she can see over the places she is not allowed to go. I like that this book focuses on a girl who wants to build. But that being said, I don’t care for it. I don’t hate it by any means. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it. That being said it's just not one I would purchase. It is probably a combination of an overly long story and while the illustrations are nice, they don’t reach out and grab you.

The illustrations in this book are beautiful. Just what a little girl would love to see.
Princess Lila is a little girl who is not allowed outside the castle grounds. She just wants to discover what lays beyond the forest surrounding the castle grounds. So she works hard to devise and execute a plan to see beyond, abiding by the ground rules set by her parents. The story tries to explain that even though you may have everything that you need materially, having a friend will make you happy.

Princess Lila Builds a Tower is a cute story about a princess who had everything, except freedom to go outside her castle into the forest. Her father lets her plan, supervise and assist with the building of a tower to view beyond the forest. This book can be used in many ways with young children. It can be used for setting goals and working to accomplish them, teamwork and co-operation as well as a introduction to problem solving and recognizing that problems can have more than one solution. The illustrations were very well done. They were cute, simple and colourful, yet added so much to the story. You could see the various expressions on Lila's face. This book is written for young children, but could be used in a classroom with primary and even junior aged children. I could definitely see it used, then have the children make their own towers using various craft and recycled items to make it sturdy and a certain height for a science lesson. A book that needs to be in every school library.

Princess Lila really wants to see what is outside the castle walls, and she really wants to make new friends. Her parents will not let her leave because it is too dangerous so she has to think up a way to stay in the grounds but see beyond the walls.

This is a great story showing kids how to problem solve and that problems usually have more than one solution. The illustrations are beautifully done. This would be a great story time book that could be accompanied by a craft... maybe a popsicle stick tower, or even a spyglass.

This book was much shorter than I anticipated, however I look forward to sharing with my granddaughters. This is a wonderful book of seeing your goals and making them happen. As the young princess wants to see beyond the walls of the castle, she makes plans and follows them to accomplish her goal. Great motivator for young girls. Sweet, engaging story about a little princess who has an abundance of books, toys, clothes, and servants. However, closeted away in her castle, and not allowed to venture into the foreboding forest, Princess Lila longs to know what lies beyond. One day, for an art project, she dreams up a tower. Encouraged by her teacher and parents, the servants are assigned building tasks.. Finally, the tower is finished and Lila scurries up the steps of the circular staircase. Eureka! Beyond the forest, she sees an ocean and mountains and beautiful sights and something else. We won't give away the ending--however, we found it somewhat forced. So, four stars for an engaging plot and whimsical illustrations and minus one star for the (very) end.

Super cute! I'd like to be Princess Lila for a day, or a week. From the outside it looks like Lila has everything, but there is one thing missing from her life and she will go to extreme measures to find it.

This is a cute children'should book with charming illustrations. It started out leading in a Feminine Mystique direction: Why does this princess who has everything feel so unfulfilled?

What transpires is a plan for the princess and her staff to build an observation deck so that she may see the forbidden world beyond her castle. For a child's picture book, there is some genuine suspense to see what will happen next and what she will find there.

I won't ruin the surprise for you. This is a very cute story and the princess is very kind and has all of the good role model qualities that I expect parents would appreciate. I think it would be a fun book to read to young kids. I'm not sure if there is an overarching moral to the story or not. I would say something along the lines of taking matters into your own hands, and " Look before you leap", but there's no leap here as far as I can tell. It's not necessarily about the journey or the destination, as far as I can tell. I think it would be super intriguing for kids, though!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with a copy for review.
