This book presents a well-thought-out strategy for balancing environmental conservation worth sustainable land use planning and energy resource development. We know the answers come through compromise between stakeholders, and this compilation presents ideas for how to approach and decide between competing interests. So many of the articles showed the benefits that come from overlaying data of different types via GIS to target areas for protection or clear them for development. The book makes a good case for taking a long view, planning early, and clearing away uncertainties that result in social conflict and project delays and hinder investment in energy systems. Recommended reading for anyone with an interest in energy or the environment or both.

A subject that is very interesting, but the book seemed a bit disjointed.
