This book is a delight! It was the perfect blend of historical fiction (in one of my favorite eras) and magic. This book will enchant teens and adults everywhere.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and am eagerly looking forward to another book in the series. The heroine was entirely likable, not unbelievably clever while being talented. I felt the author did a decent job at capturing the Regency period and the terror of Napoleon making another comeback.
I liked the colorful array of supporting characters and .hope to see a lot more of them in the future.

This novel was a good read. It involves mystery and magic, and getting into trouble along the way. Annis Whitworth is a 16 year old girl living in London when she and her Aunt Cassia are notified of her father's mysterious death. Any money her father had is now gone and they cannot afford to live in London and relocate to the country, but not too far from London. Annis has a plan to use her talents as a sew glamour and fix dresses. After all, she has great fashion sense and wants to help those who need it. She disguises herself as Madame Martine, a widow and her maid, Millie, helps her with this plot.
When Annis discovers things in her father's belonging, she sees information that the War Office needs to know and realizes her father was a spy. She wants to become a spy but they will not allow her so she tries to do things on her own with Millie's help. As they try to piece everything together, they are caught up in a deeper conspiracy than either realize. Will they be able to discover the traitor who killed Annis' father and stop their plans? What plans does the traitor have for them in order to stop them?

So cute. I love how this author got permission from various other Regency fantasy authors to use their characters in the background of this world. So fun! I noticed characters from the Kat, Incorrigible books and Sorcery and Cecelia. According to the note in the back, there are a ton more as well. More books to add to my to read list.

Spies, sewing, magic. The only thing missing in my mind is a little romance, but I think that will come if there is is a sequel.
