This was a delightful historical romance by Julia London. I was totally pulled into this one from the very first page.

I loved Rabbie and Bernadette. Tragedy had damaged them, it had hardened them, but they refused to let it break them. Now, I will admit that Rabbie was in a really bad state of depression in the beginning. I was worried about him until he found himself fascinated by Bernadette and finally started showing some interest in life. I absolutely loved how they found a way to make their own little family in the end.

This book was beautifully written with catchy dialogue and lots of emotions and sparks. Just an all around great read.

I loved this! Drawn into the story from the beginning.
I however couldn't stand Avaline. The description of her in the book is very accurate, cake-headed. Not too mention, annoying as h*ll. No wonder Rabbie wanted nothing to do with her.
Bernadette and Rabbie were both broken, yet found life again with each other.
Such a wonderful story.
I could have done without any of the Kents, they were just annoying- all of them.

This story grabbed me before the end of the first chapter. I was engrossed in it that I was crying through many of the trials of the characters. Author did a tremendous job of making this reader feel she was right there as the story unfolded.

A definite buy book. Written by an author who has creative and imaginative ways of writing. A plot that takes place outside the normal London writings. Characters with flaw and life and humor and passion as well as love. I sincerely enjoyed reading this story but was a little lost for it did not follow a normal path. Instead it was one of discovery with people that had flaws like in real life. Twisted plot that makes you experience frustration wondering why they don't see whats coming. Characters that warm the heart and make you root for each of them individually. I must say, I sincerely enjoyed this read for being so very different then the normal historical. The writer is extremely talented and it shows.

If I could of changed anything to bring it to a five star, it would of been more action. I was given this book in return for an honest review. Anna Swedenmom
