Part 4 of 4

As Jericho finds himself still back at home. He also continues to try and do the right thing by working for Kay and the sheriff department, but its hard when his heart is with Wade and all that comes with him.

"That'll be Kay's problem. If she wants to fire me, she can. But I've already told her-or at least I started to-if it comes down to choosing between you and my job, I choose you."
"Yeah?" Wade's smile was a little softer this time, a little more real. "Damn, Junior, you can be a real sweet-talker when you try to be."

Jericho is having a hard time with right and wrong but he does know the difference between winning and losing. And for him Wade is a win. Now they just have to survive.

"Is there some part of you being a cop and me being a robber that you don't understand, Jay?"

As the all the illegal activities come to a head now Wade is having a hard time with right and wrong because he knows he wants Jericho and nothing else matters.

"If you're still alive after all this, you are absolutely quitting your fucking job." Then he nudged the gear bag with his foot. "There's some shit in there that might help keep us alive. At least long enough for me to kick your ass."

Not only did I love all that was Jericho and Wade I loved his relationship with the kids as well.

"Jericho can watch the kids so you and me can talk outside."
"Jericho can't handle your kids when he's at full strength."

Loved how Nikki and the kids are Jericho's nemesis but he still tries anyways. Because in the end Jericho is all heart. I absolutely LOVED this series. I didn't rate them as individual books because they're meant as a whole and as a whole I loved them. Sure some were better than others sure but that doesn't matter when you think about the big picture.

Loved this series! Can't wait for more this author. And I will for sure miss Wade and Jericho.

Home Fires is a great conclusion to Jericho and Wade's story. The men are openly together now and Jericho is really thinking about their future. He's thinking seriously about quitting and going away with Wade, because Mosely just might not be the place for them any longer. But, before he can come to any hard and fast conclusions, trouble erupts between the militia and the town.

Home Fires is fast paced and full of action. Jericho takes charge because he's got military experience, and that experience serves him well when leading his small town against a well armed militia. When all the townspeople arrive to defend their town, as the feds have pretty much taken off and left them to fend for themselves, there's a nice bit of hometown vs evil going on. But, when Jericho can't find Wade after a particularly intense shootout, will he be able to think clearly and make it through all the fighting going on? Or will he let his heart do his thinking for him, and land him in trouble?

If you come to this series expecting lots of heat, you'll be disappointed, but there are some descriptive scenes. They're short, but the sexual tension is very present, and more importantly, Jericho and Wade's emotional bond is all the stronger this time around. I've always loved Wade and Jericho, both individually and together, but I really fell in love with them in Home Fires. I love that they work together in the action scenes, and that their love for each other is front and center.

I love the ending, it gives me hope for our two men and the possibilities that their future together might bring. They're in love and finally able to just relax and be together without the ever present criminal vs law enforcement vibe that plagued them before. I wish Kate Sherwood would write a spin off with Wade and Jericho, because I'm really sad to see their story ending!

Under-Sheriff Jericho Crewe wants to quit his post and make a life with his high school love and local criminal kingpin, Wade Granger. He's just about to do this until he learns the powder keg that is Mosely is about to blow sky-high.

Mosely, this small Montana town, situated a few miles of mountainous forest from the unprotected Canadian border, is a hot bed of criminal activity due to long-time smuggling operations. Wade is usually in the center of whatever is going down, but this time Wade wants out of Mosely just as bad as Jericho. Thing is, their local homesteading militia has recently been co-opted by folks from out of state, gunning--literally--for a showdown with the Federal agents policing the border.

They stage an ambush killing some agents, which is horrible, but that seems like it was merely a means to an end for these hardliners. No, they have an even bigger agenda, and it soon becomes starkly clear that Mosely is poised to become ground-zero for a militia-led war on the Federal government. It's impossible to prevent with as small as a police force as exists in Mosely, or is it?

I really loved the tension throughout this book. Jericho is a great investigator, and his brand of no-bull morals is refreshing, even if it's not always aligned with police procedure. Wade and Jericho have been a building issue for more than a month, with both of them acknowledging they have a deep connection, but not being able to openly embrace it while they exist on opposite sides of the law. Wade's exasperation with Jericho's determination to do what's right, even when it means certain death, is endearing, and I was so engaged with these guys in the climax. Expect firefights, dastardly militia, small-town folks protecting their own, and a well-deserved change of scenery. The end of the story, most enjoyable, might could be the beginning of a new one. (Yay!) I know I'd follow Wade and Jericho into further entanglements, especially if I get to experience their growing love story up close and personal!

I highly recommend the whole series, and know that I enjoyed this one best because I read the books in order. As they are all out now, it's easy to pick up the collection and binge-read away.

Perfect way to wrap things up for Wade and Jay... but that doesn't mean I was ready to say goodby. *sigh*

Well, if things had to end... okay, so I'm still not happy about this series being over, but Kate Sherwood did an amazing job of wrapping things up for Wade and Jericho.

Jericho was so close to quitting, so close. Then things got even crazier in Mosely. So crazy that even Wade was ready to pack it up and move on, but Jericho couldn't do it. Not when people he cared about were too close to getting caught in the cross fire, literally. There's not a whole lot more to say than what you see in the description, except Wade blew me away in Home Fires. I honestly thought he was ready to call it quits, but then... yeah, you've gotta read this one to get the whole 'Wade' affect.

Common Law is the only series by Kate Sherwood that I've read. Actually, I've only read one other book by her and Mark of Cain kind of left me reeling. This series did the same in a whole different way. It also made me realize that I really need to add more books by this author to my TBR list. As I said in the beginning, I'm sad to say good-bye to these characters. There were a few that I wanted to get to know a little better and even more that I would have liked to 'check in on' to make sure they weathered through all the craziness that happened in Home Fires. They were all left in a pretty good place in the end though, so saying goodbye wasn't quite as hard as I thought it was going to be. ;)

This is the perfect conclusion to a wonderfully original series. Smuggling and biker gangs are the least of the Mosely, Montana Sheriff Department’s problems when an armed militia decides to take on the FBI. And somehow, Jericho and Wade find themselves at the centre of the ensuing chaos.

The first three books set up the characters and relationships that define Jericho and Wade’s small border town and this final book pulls everything together with dark humour and a couple of thrilling action scenes. There are even a few softer moments between Jericho and Wade. By this fourth story, I really loved everyone in Mosely. Kayla is wonderful. Her deputies and the DEA agents are mostly almost useful this time round.

I live in a country where even police officers don’t carry guns so the shootouts between law enforcement and civilians armed with things like RPGs were difficult for me to wrap my head around. I know from news stories that Americans have guns and they do like to use them so the action in this book might not be as unrealistic as it felt. Realistic or not, the action scenes are exciting and thoroughly entertaining. Wade is a grumpy, sarcastic, and creative anti-hero and I absolutely loved him by the time the dust settled.

I have enjoyed every moment of Jericho and Wade’s charming and frustrating non-romance through all four books but even with fifty pages left to go, I had no idea how Jericho the cop and Wade the criminal were ever going to make a life together. The answer in the epilogue is absolutely perfect.

I would recommend this series highly to anyone looking for something fresh and original. This dark, gritty, and quirky series doesn’t sit neatly within a genre but I’m so glad I found it.

I’ve had the pleasure of following the Common Law series from the beginning, and I believe Home Fires to be the best yet. While I had a couple of random issues early in the series, this story brought everything together far better than I had anticipated it might. And though my fondness for Wade hasn’t lessened one bit, I’ve now fallen for Jericho, too, and feel that both men got an ending to the story that suits them very well.

While the more suspenseful elements have consistently been my favorite moments of the series, Home Fires has a few that I think excel over the others. In what is arguably one of the better confrontations in the Common Law stories, whatever uncertainty still existed in Jericho’s mind is thoroughly destroyed, and I enjoyed reading it tremendously. It’s certainly among the best showdowns I’ve read in a long while.

Despite the inherent battles Jericho and Wade fight within the shades of gray that surround them, the affection and wanting that simmers and flares between them is undeniable. Often teasing, but hardly ever explicit, their relationship is born of scars and memory and is as restless as the characters themselves. They’ve earned their resolution and I was glad to see them have it at last. Besides, there were plenty of other things to fight in Home Fires, so why bother?

Still more to like about Home Fires is that there’s plenty of humor, albeit as dry and sarcastic as ever, if not more so. The citizens of Mosely really are Jericho’s people, and the comfort he finds in accepting it is both evident and welcome. No longer the prodigal, he’s his best self now, especially with Wade at his side. Or watching his back. Or blowing up the evidence room at the police station. Whatever they’ve figured out between them works—not just for them, but the whole town, as well.

After four books, I’ve become attached to this series, and I’m very sorry for it to end. The author set a nice pace throughout, making the culmination of steps Wade and Jericho have taken seem justifiably rewarding—for the readers as well as the characters. Each story is both manageable and engaging, and I absolutely recommend reading all the books, rather than any of them as standalones. Home Fires made for a perfect ending, and I think starting the whole thing over again will be just as much fun.

This is the fourth, and I believe final, book in the Common Law series. I never want to say too much about a book - especially one taking place later in a series - because I don't want to ruin anything for prospective readers. Therefore, I will simply state that I loved this book and I am a huge fan of the series in general. None of the books are terribly long, though each has its own set conflict or story arch, so it works well! You could definitely binge all these books in a quick amount of time!

I love the characters of Jericho and Wade - how they are seemingly on opposite ends of the wall, but they are still drawn to each other. We also get a different side of Wade in this one which I appreciated it. All these characters have layers, and each book just seems to peel back more and more about them. I appreciate well-written characters and Sherwood definitely delivers that! I highly recommend the Common Law series. While I think this might be the last in the series, there is something about the end that makes me think we could get a new sort of series and I really hope that's true! I'd grab it in a heartbeat.

I loved it! I loved it! I loved it!!!

This was it, the final book in Kate Sherwood's series 'Common Law' and it was perfect. Did I finally get my sexy times...yeah, there wasn't a lot of them but what there was I loved. But more importantly than that these guys got their HEA! and so did I.

Like the previous books in this series there was action...seriously Wade went to the toy store and came back with 'blow shit-up' toys...how sexy is that. Sorry, I have a weak spot for men who can blow shit up...I'm a 'Die Hard' fan...so sue me ;)

Each of these books has contained a different story and I loved that because it kept things from getting too drawn out and reaching that point...you know the one...come on I can't be the only one that sat in theater yelling..."Throw the damned ring Frodo, just throw the ring." So while we had the same MCs in each book we had a whole new series of events and weren't kept waiting for answers, so in fact no cliffhangers. Each book was a self contained story. But this one...this one was definitely my favorite. There was drama and action...and did I mention shit got blown up...mmm...I get goosebumps just thinking about it.

Definitely one of my favorite things about this series was the relationship between Wade and Jericho. It was neither easy nor perfect and there were times that things were definitely one step forward and 3 steps back which only seemed right given that these men stand on opposite sides of the law. I loved the banter between Wade and Jericho and needless to say with each subsequent it just got better and better. I have to admit I'm sorry to see this come to an end.

While the series stands complete as it is the epilogue does leave room for the author to revisit the lives of Wade and Jericho something that I would love to see happen. While I wouldn't list any one book as an all time favorite for this year I can easily see that the series in it's entirety will remain a favorite for me.

This is book 4 in the series.

It starts out where book 3 left off. One of our main characters is trying to decide what to do with the rest of his life.

When the town is entrenched with a well armed army coming for them, a radical idea comes to pass. Jericho is caught between his desire to start a new life with the man he loves and his feelings of duty to the citizens of the town. Wade is right there beside his man. Doing everything to keep Jericho and his town safe from the radicals.
I can honestly say that I loved this series! It has everything, criminals and cops. Drug dealers and DEA not to mention the glamorous and fool hardy FBI. There is a sense of family even though the cops are trying to arrest the criminals. The whole town comes together for good and bad but always beside one another against outside forces.

We’re in the homestretch with the Common Law series and I’m dragging my feet because I don’t want it to be over. I’ve enjoyed my time with Jericho, Wade, and the rest of the quirky citizens of Mosely, Montana. Things have been building to a point for Jericho and he has some big decisions to make if only those pesky heavily armed militia folks weren’t building a revolution back in the hills.

Home Fires is the fourth and final installment of the Common Law featuring the detecting adventures of Jericho Crewe once wild-child and now under-sheriff of the county.

Each book in the series has had a dual focus. There’s a case for Jericho to solve and the ongoing story of Jericho’s personal life as he comes to terms with who he is and what he wants now that he’s laying the past to rest.

Enigmatic Wade whose moral compass doesn’t always point true North is still a good man, Jericho’s teenage lover and best friend and now they are becoming something more as far as Jericho is concerned. He’s not hiding what they have together and he’s done trying to figure out how to make it work. It will just work- The crook and the cop. I thought it worked rather well.

The militia war angle got things into a pretty exciting and intensive situation. Kay’s on shaky ground with the citizens of Mosely because her dad’s a crooked past sheriff and someone’s using this as his chance to push his way into office, but lord love her, that woman took care of business like a champ. Loved how Jericho, for all his contrariness is a good cop and Marine and this last installment calls for both skills. He’s the one that figures out just why things aren’t adding up and where it’s all going. The crisis moments when he had to make tough choices and then later when he just went all Rambo were the perfect pinnacle for this series.

I loved where things were at in the end for Jericho and Wade. And hsst, Kate, I would be perfectly fine if it all just kept on rolling with more of Jericho and Wade off in their new direction.

In summary, fab series, no reservations. Those who enjoy slow build romance, well-crafted characters, and a good mystery should give this four part m/m Romantic Suspense series a go.

This is the fourth, and last, book in the Common Law series, and finally, FINALLY, we get some closure for our boys. They were killing me from book one and I kept thinking, “I can do this, I can get through this…” and then the book ended and I was like, “NOOOO!!!”. So, for those of you who have been waiting for the series to end, I say go ahead and jump on it. You are so lucky you don’t have to wait for the next book.

I’ll tell you what though, Jericho and Wade wore me out. They are hot and cold, on and off, legal and illegal, and the head games messed with me and much as they did with Jericho. But, I really loved it, too. Trust me, there is nothing boring happening here, or in Mosely, Montana. I think what I loved most was by-the-book Jericho basically saying, screw it, and going after his man, Wade. And you know what? Wade was worth it. Very few things I can write without giving the finale away, but trust me, this was the best book in the series and you will be glad you worked you way through them.

Wade Granger is so bad-assed! *heart eyes*

This fourth and last installment in this series was a fast-paced adventure. The beginning of this finds Wade and Jericho committed to being together no matter how different they may be. Their little town ends up being the site of a major battle between law enforcement and the bad guys. Needless to say both of them are involved in a major way.

I don't want to say much about the plot due to spoilers but I will say that I loved how things ended up for these two. They get their much deserved hea and I as a reader loved every minute of it.

This should not be read as a standalone. The books in this series are all pretty short but they should be read in order. This is one of the only m/m romantic suspense series I've read and since it's one of my favorite genres I was really excited to find this. It's low on steam but the UST and chemistry between these two is fantastic. I loved all four of the books and I highly recommend this series.

The final book of this series and I'm sad to see it end. Trouble really does come to Mosely Montana this time around. Jericho and Wade have a lot to deal with on top of their relationship issues, and it's an fun and exciting ride.

For the story itself, I enjoyed the suspense of it and the anxious feelings I had not knowing how things were going to play out. The moments of tension when I was not sure what Wade was going to do, and when all hope seemed lost... those were the best times. The way the town is involved in this finale was also so much fun. I really like the way everything comes full circle, too. Full circle for Jericho and Wade, especially.

For Jericho and Wade themselves? Le Sigh... what can I say? I really like them as individual characters, but I like them together even more. They each bring out something in the other that would normally not shine. For Wade, Jericho keeps him honest. Not just in his money making dealings, but in life in general. For Jericho, Wade sort of messes him up a bit. They both really counter each other well and it's made me a huge fan of them.

While I started out on book one not so sure about the series and where it was going to go, I'm sold now. Recommended.

This is a story about black and white - and the endless shades of grey in between.

Homes Fires is the last book in Kate Sherwood's Common Law series.

The series is a single story. The books should be read in order. But, now that they are all out, it will be easy to go from one to the other. In fact, it will be hard not to.

Wade and Jericho are two complex men. Their story is both captivating and frustrating at times. But the underlying undying love flies off the pages.

Don't go into this series expecting a lot of on-page, graphic sex scenes. In fact, some books have none at all. Instead, you'll find MC's who are real and tough and loyal. You might want to beat their heads together sometimes, but you'll never stop rooting for true love to conquer all.

It got off to a slow start, but in the end, the finish was strong....for this installment and for the series.
