Ian and Mason were at a party having been invited by the vampire running the supernatural fights that Ian participated in asked for something Ian wasn’t going to say no unless the request was offensive. Ian was part demon and part dragon. Ian didn’t even know any other dragons. Ian knew his mother had been forced when Ian was conceived and if Ian ever found the full blooded demon he’d kill him for what he had done to Ian’s mother. All he had was a name but that was a start. One day Ian would make the make the male feel his hatred. Then Bruneau the vampire who had invited Ian to this party appeared and told Mason to leave Ian and him. Mason did/ Ian knew he was the strongest male in any room or close to it. He had to be strong from the time he was a child- a mixed breed with a mother who was alone in the world. Ian made it clear to anyone if they tried to mess with his family they die. They first time Ian had killed it was defending his mom , he had been eight and it had been an accident. The first time Iam meant to kill he was ten. Most supernaturals in New Orleans that had seen Ian fight seemed to think he was an animal and his nickname in the ring was “Beast”. Bruneau said he thought he’d found a woman to Ian’s liking. Ian turned and felt his heart stop in his chest. Ke locked gazes with a striking female. Then Ian noticed she had a male companion and he looked like he wanted to kill Ian. The Breuner introduced him as Colm O’Riley. He wanted to fight Ian and he was also undefeated. Then Ian introduced himself to the female and she said her name was Fiona. Then the male pushed her more behind him and said “ you don’t look at her, you don;t touch her”. Then Ian said you name the place we fight. Ian never experienced this lack of control before. But her scent and closeness was making Ian edgy. Then Breuner asked if three hours was soen enough and both males nodded. Ian knew Colm was a shifter but he wasn’t sure what kind. Ian figured he would take care of the male in the ring then talk to the female. He didn’t understand the primitive part of him that had came to life and he wasn’t going to ignore it. Bruneau advised Ian to make himself scarce until the fight as Colm had two brothers. Then Ian saw Fiona standing behind a big tree. She motioned for Ian to follow her. Then they hurried to a small room off the lobby. Fiona told Ian to shut the door. Then she said she wanted to warn Ian her brothers were very strong. She added she knew Ian would never lost before but he would this time. Also her brother was very angry Ian had spoken to her. Then Fiona asked Ian to please walk away and there was desperation in her voice. The Ian asked Fiona if she was mated and she said no . Ian felt many emotions in Fiona there was confusion but also lust. Ian said to Fiona was to have dinner with him after the fight. Fiona said if he managed to live she would have dinner with him. Then Ian told her to meet him tomorrow at Mandina's at six. Ian shook Malloy’s hand at the front of Bo’s supernatural ‘s only club. His half brother Bo was on his honeymoon but he’d kept the club open and his family ran it while he was gone. Malloy was a ghoul and head of security. Ian had a strange call from Rory telling Ian he needed to talk to Ian about something important Ian saw his half sister Cynara tending bar. Rory said fimm wanted to speak to Fiona and they needed to know if she was trustworthy and Ian said she was. But Ian couldn’t talk about her it hurt too much then Ian left the room. Ian couldn’t even convince himself he buried the memory of Fiona because he thought of her every day. Fiona was his mate even though they had never mated another female would never do for him. Now to know she was nearby Ian was going to find out everything from the Alpha Finn. Then he was going to see Fiona even though he knew he shouldn’t She was mated, taken. She had shattered his heart and went off with another male Too late he realized she had done it to protect him, to keep him alive. He would have kept them safe and alive, Ian just wished Fiona had trusted him enough that he could do that. Since rory had joined a new pack he had torn loyalties between his brother Ian and his new pack. For decades it had been Ian and Rory against the Hell Realm that had been their world. Rory called Finn to let him know Ian was on his way,
I absolutely loved this book It was a great paranormal story and romance. I Loved that Fiona and Ian had been true and faithful to each other. Never accepting someone else. I didn’t want to put this book down it kept my interest all through the book. I felt like I was right there with ian and Fiona. I loved how Fiona spent her life helping bullied paranormal females. I loved how willing Fiona was to sacrifice everything to make sure Ian was safe. I loved the ending. I also loved the twist in this story. I loved the characters and ins and outs of this book and I highly recommend.

Another half-demon hottie has finally found and kept the woman that was made for him. This series has progressed slowly through the paranormal leaders in the Biloxi, MS area in this amazing and imaginative series by Katie Reus. Ian McCabe is the long lost brother of Bo, the sexy club owner that found his mate in a foxy demigoddess, and while he is a hard-ass, he is also a seriously sensual male. When the woman that ripped his heart out more than 50 years earlier is thrust back into his life, he is unable to resist going to see her for himself, but when he stumbles on her being attacked he is determined that she will be safe even if he cannot have her for himself. Fiona hated breaking Ian’s heart so long ago, but knowing that he was out there somewhere alive and safe keeps her from truly regretting it. When she finds herself faced with the man that she never stopped loving, she is not quite so able o give him up again. Thrown together to rescue a friend from a seriously dangerous Hell realm, Fiona and Ian must find a way to come to terms with the full truth of their past and move on if they are going to survive the dangers around them. This story was a little bit different than some previous installments in the series in that most of the romance of this novel was actually set in their lives 50 years ago, with short flashbacks into their original romance, even as the danger in their current lives is escalating. Fiona was an amazing woman, giving up her chance at love and happiness with her mate in order to keep him safe from the psychos in her family. I enjoyed seeing Fiona come to terms with her past and find a way to forgive herself for her role in breaking Ian’s heart and finding a way to change their future. Her bravery and passion for keeping her loved ones safe and defeating the enemies that place them in danger, made her a female to truly be reckoned with. With Ian back in her life there is no real way to keep her heart behind the wall of ice she long ago constructed, giving into the love and passion that make them the perfect lovers. Once Ian learns that what he believed about Fiona for the last 50 years is way off base, there is no way in any hell that he will let her escape again; determined to bring his mate back into his life--and his bed-- Ian will do whatever it takes to keep her safe and protect those she claims as her own in order to have the chance to give her his heart. His passion is the driving factor for his every moment with Fiona, but his love for her is impossible to deny whenever they are together or he thinks about her. I hurt so bad for Ian when his heart was breaking and was so happy to see them finally get their HEA. This series continues to amaze me as each new and different couple finds love in the most unplanned of places and I cannot wait to see which couple will find love next in this group of friends and family. Keep the magic coming Katie.

I have always loved Reus' contemporary suspense books, but haven't tried many of her PNR book. I picked up Saved by Darkness simply because it was Katie Reus. I loved that the writing and plot were exactly what I expect from Reus, yet the characters were paranormal.
Reus has taken her gift for twisty plots and steamy romance and added a little bit of a second chance paranormal spin. I couldn't get enough!
Links to come!

Hold onto your hats, because the latest installment of Katie Reus' Darkness series is a wild ride! This series keeps getting better and better. Reus does an amazing job of keeping all of the characters you love, while introducing new ones in each installment. She does an amazing job of drawing out the anticipation, while updating you on characters you already know well.

You know Ian has a secret. He talks a great game, but it seems that's all smoke and mirrors. He lost his true mate, and is just going through the motions. Fiona thought she broke away from the clan that treated her like a piece of property, rather than the powerful woman she was. The problem was, she didn't really break away. She lived the next 50 years pretending she was truly free. What she did do, was save a lot of others from even worse situations than one she escaped.

So what happens when, after over half a century, she's reunited with the male that finally gave her the strength to stand up for herself? You are going to have read Saved by Darkness to find out, but its worth the price of admission. Being willing to give up everything, is sometimes the only way to win.

~When you love some so much, there are times that letting go, is the only way to save them from harm. It might shatter your heart in a million pieces, but knowing that the person you love most is safe its enough.~

This was the first thoughts that came to my head after finishing this book. It had such a powerful effect that it made me realize how much sacrifice Fiona did just to protect Ian. The love she had for him was the best kind of love.

Ian, on the other hand...just wow. There are no words, just pure emotions as i recall, how powerful his lines were as i read the book. It made me wish that my husband have the same personality as him.

The last leg of the book was something i do not want to read again. I thought she was really going to die! It was one of those moments that i had to stop reading. I was in a public transportation while I was reading that part. People were like looking at me. I wanted to shout at the sky for the injustice. Then the plot twist, it was like *boom*.

In the world of Ms. Katie Reus Darkness Series, the word "Forever" is possible.

If your love is strong enough, then all you need to do is believe in each other and everything will fall into their places.

As the book comes to an end, there are several people that came into light, another brother.

I do look forward for the next book in the series.

Katie Reus saves us from the darkness of romantic despair in this one, my fellow romance book-loving friends. How? By giving us a likable “meant to be together” main couple whose true love would not be denied. Ian and Fiona are so devoted not only would they sacrifice their own life for the other, but they would follow one another right through death’s door, if need be, without hesitation. Considering all the perilous, action packed half-demon/wolf/dragon shifting drama, those two elements came dangerously close to becoming a reality for this reunited couple, folks.

Though it’s my first book of this series, I can attest Ms. Reus did a great job of not making me feel like the awkward, newly discovered relative at a big family gathering. I felt right at home as characters from previous books were introduced/incorporated into the multi-pronged mission they banded together to accomplish. She even handled necessary, reoccurring flashbacks to fill in the romantic angst/past between these two dragon shifting soulmates without a literary whiplash effect.

Even if you have never read this particular genre, don’t be afraid to step out of the shadows into the heart melting light of this great romantic read. This NetGalley reviewer hopes to now backtrack and eventually read the entire series.

This book can definitely be read as a standalone glimpse into this world. I have read a few in the series, but skipped some before this one and it didn't impact my enjoyment of this story one bit.

Ian is a half-demon/half-dragon shifter who is a little damaged. He's already found his mate, but her family forcibly separated them a few decades ago. He obviously has not moved on, even knowing that she's supposedly mated to someone else (and it's unbreakable). Everything changes for him, however, when the pack he is reluctantly aligned with informs him of her location - right next to their territory. Not only is she nearby, but she is also completely unmated.

Fiona is a woman who is going to great lengths to protect the person her dragon has identified as her mate. She takes the threat her family issued very seriously, and knows if she pursues Ian, they'll do something terrible. Don't worry, though, she ends up breaking all her rules when everyone is dragged into a big conspiracy to wipe out the human race. While working in close company, Fiona and Ian can't but rekindle their romance.

This story was quick paced, engaging, and very well written. Like I said earlier, even skipping a few books in the series didn't hinder my enjoyment. The characters were so enjoyable that I was willing to overlook the standard issue martyr thing (where one character sacrifices to try to "save" the other). The sizzling chemistry was right on and I didn't really expect the ending when it arrived. I'd eagerly read the rest of the series.

This is a great escape into fantasy, both dark and light. Ian and Fiona have lived more than 52 years loving one another and not being able to be together because of her family. Now as they have found each other again there is more than just her family that could keep them apart.

Ad they fight the fight of their lives they gather friends, family, and others to help win the battle raging between the supernaturals and the select few supernaturals that believe they are better than others. But will the ultimate battle of love win out or will this be the end for one of them?

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

SAVED BY DARKNESS by Katie Reus was hard to put down ...I felt like I was part of the story and my heart ached for Ian and Fiona for being a part for so long...I liked that i did not have to read through the whole time of separation that she put it in flash backs.... Now I want a dragon/demon shifter and I wouldn't mind being Fiona. I enjoyed this book and hope there are more books in the series.

Saved by the Darkness is the 6th book in the series and while you could possibly read it as a stand alone you'd get more enjoyment by starting at the beginning of the series. This book features Ian the half demon and half dragon. I was intrigued by this character in early books and was very happy to read his book. This is a second chance story about Ian and Fiona who he had met and fallen in love with 50 years earlier. Circumstances kept them apart until they finally met again in this book. There is plenty of action, intrigue and of course wonderful characters and a great love story. I have enjoyed all the characters in these books and we get several of their POVs in this book. It's fun to catch up with Ian's brothers and of course Finn. This book takes us to another hell realm and the descriptions make it easy to imagine the realm. This is an entertaining series with well developed and likable characters and we can't forget it has Dragons!

Good Read by Katie Reus.

Ian is a dragon shifter who lost his first love Fiona many years ago. Fiona left him because she thought that was the only way to save him from her family. Her family wanted her mated to another from a different clan to form an alliance. So she left Ian and her family and stayed away for over 50 years. But now she has run into Ian again and all her feelings come back.
Ian and Fiona have to go through a lot in order to be together. They battle for their lives and protect each other. It's true love for both of them.
This was a great shifter read. I love the paranormal genre. I definitely want to read the other books in this series. Even though the author has said this can be a standalone book. It's prob best to read it in order. I didn't and it was a little confusing throughout with all the different characters and not knowing their full history which I would have gotten if I read them all in order. But overall a good read. Def a 4 star book. I look forward to more of her books in the future.
Thanks to Netgalley for providing me with this ARC.

Saved by Darkness is a prime example of why Katie Reus is queen of paranormal suspense romance. Her characters are varied in personalities as well as species. Ian is a multi-species male who character draws you into the story from the beginning. You can see early on his determination not to give up who he loves again. Fiona, for her part, is strong except when dealing with her own appalling and dreadful family. It has as many Romeo/Juliette elements as it does second chance as love elements.

The problems that follow after they meet again keeps this story-line popping. There are other evil forces at work as well which make this novel one that you keep reading to see how Ian and Fiona survive, led alone find love again. Easily stands on its own, though it is part of a fantastic series. The story concluded with me giving a hip, hip, hooray to these two star-struck lovers who had been separated for far too long. I can highly recommend.

I think I've read most of the books in this series, and have enjoyed them all. This installment was no exception. This is a solid PNR series with a fabulous world, interesting characters, and plenty of action.

4 ~ Blue dragon fire ~ Stars!

I seriously need to own this whole series! I love the world that KR has created and I can't get enough of the wolves, the half demons and the dragons of course!

There is something just so crazy awesome about dragons and Ian definitely fills all alpha hottie requirements for being all dragon *wink wink*

When Ian is finally reunited with Fiona after fifty two years apart, there is no way he's walking away from her a second time. This second chance romance might just be cut short when Fiona is pulled into a dark and menacing plot to enslave humans.

This was another great adventure full of danger, angst, love and two perfectly paired MCs. Because Ian and Fiona were adorable together. I loved how committed they were to each other, even after all the years apart. Their love hadn't waned one bit and it was obvious how much they meant to each other.

I loved catching glimpses of the Ian's brothers and sister and that ending was EPIC! Like I didn't expect it, I didn't see it coming and I was completely taken by surprise!!

There are so many great characters here and I love discovering the little hints and meaningful looks between certain characters because it feeds my need to learn more and ship for more couples. I know I'll be checking back with this series again and again. I can't wait for Gray's HEA and Javier is definitely another interesting addition!

Safety: Being supernatural beings, Ian is "a little over a hundred." and Fiona is eighty two. Only the h was a virgin but we get no details or mentions of Ian's past. He definitely wasn't a man-whore or player, preferring to fight rather then hook up. During their 52 year (forced) separation they both remained celibate. There is no OM/OW drama, no pushing away and it is a bit angsty but the ending is super sweet and worth the mushy tears I shed reading this. Ends with a HEA and no epilogue

The Darkness series is one of the very few paranormal romance series I just love!
Ian and Fiona have a heartbreaking second-chance love story with some great surprises that kept me turning the pages way past midnight.
The worldbuilding is fantastic and I loved the creepy hell realm. With Saved by Darkness you get lots of action, adventure, tension and hot steamy romance. Highly recommended!

**3.5 Stars**

A second-chance romance of a decades lost romance between two characters who fought the internal battle for 50 years are brought back together in Saved By Darkness to fight a battle with evil to save the human race. Filled with tension, sexiness, and a touch of suspense, this novel was both fun and engaging to read. As a fan of dragon shifter romances, I loved how Katie wrote their kind and how she told the love story of Ian and Fiona.

Set in third person, the tale was told with just the right amount of flashbacks to give us the true backstory to these characters and set the tension for how they interacted in the present. That tension carried throughout the novel, allowing the tone to feel both juiced with sexual awareness and emotional vulnerability. What kept me from fully loving this novel is the third person viewpoint. It led to a lot of details being overly repeated and less dialogue, which, in my opinion, makes a paranormal romance snag in the pace department. I loved Ian's alpha and how Fiona matched it with her own alpha--it built both characters to be strong and independent, but also gave them an intense weakness for one another. I really enjoyed Saved By Darkness and felt it was a great addition to the series.

I was given an advanced copy of this book from Netgalley and I am so glad that I did. This is my first book by this author and its amazing. For those who love to read books this is the 6th book in the series. I love Ian and Fiona’s story. I have always been a book junkie some books take me months while others like this one I could have finished in a day if I wasn’t distracted by life. There is so much Alpha goodness in this book that it makes it such an awesome read. Our main couple is Ian who is half dragon, half demon and Fiona who is full blooded dragon. The chemistry between the two of them and the 52 year gap makes the story so much better. The turmoil between her family and hers makes me want to beat her brothers . All and all the plot and the detail makes me invested as a reader to the point I have bought the first five books. 5 STAR read all the way.

I’ve always enjoyed the Darkness series by Katie Reus. So of course I was pretty pumped to see there was another release. Then I found out it was a second chance romance and my brain began that gimmegimmegimme chant thing it does when I see something good. Holy smokes but I love a good second chance romance.

Ian McCabe is a half demon/half dragon hybrid and the brother of Bo from Hunted by Darkness and Rory from Into the Darkness. Fifty two years ago he met his soul mate when he was offered a chance in the fight ring with her domineering older brother. In Fiona’s fear for his safety she sneaks away hoping to find and beg him not to accept the fight. Instead Ian makes a deal with her, he’ll take on her brother, but if he survives she agrees to go out on a date with him. This leads to lots of secret meetings and Ian and Fiona realizing they are meant for each other. Plans are made, a future together is talked about, but ultimately Fiona’s family intervenes and tears them apart.

Fifty years later Ian is getting to know his family and making a life for himself. He isn’t alone any longer, but he still misses the woman who stole his heart and then left him to mate with another male. Then he finds out that Fiona lives right outside the Stavros territory where she runs a home for abused supernatural women. Thinking she is mated to another, he only intends to catch a glimpse of her and then leave her alone to her life. That is until he finds out that her family lied to him all those years ago and there was never another man in her life. Now all bets are off and he will do whatever it takes to make sure that they are never parted again.

Ian and Fiona are probably my favorite couple since Drake and Victoria. I loved them! The jumps in time back and forth between their meeting and falling in love fifty years ago and them reconnecting present day helped me get to know them and their relationship. Five decades might have passed since they’ve seen each other, but their love for each other never died. But just when you think they are going to have some serious relationship talks and it may not go how Ian wants it to, shit hits the fan and they end up on an adventure into the hell realm with several of Ian’s allies. There are bad guys that I don’t think anyone will be surprised about, lots of Ian growling and busting out his dragon form, and some pretty cool Finn moments. Fiona and Ian’s  rebonding moves forward at a fast pace as they are dealt a huge blow that might tear them apart regardless of their feelings.

Also, something happens at the end that I was not expecting. But I enjoyed immensely.

I was glad to see the introduction of another half demon brother, Javier, and the budding relationship between Gray and Ophelia. I’m thinking this means there is more to come in this series and that makes me a very happy reader.

Favorite Quote:

“Then don’t expect me to live without you. You’re mine, Fiona. Have been from the moment I laid eyes on you, from the moment you tried to warn me off fighting your brother because you were worried I’d get hurt. Don’t you dare expect me to live a life without you! You go into the afterlife? So do I. Simple as that. If we have day left, I want to enjoy every second of it with you.”
