Enjoyable, funny, and often sweet. A perfect combination.

Lunarbaboon, is at times silly and at other times very deep. The collection appears to be the best of his strips on parenthood.

So, if you like his work, it is cool to have a collection. I didn't notice any new strips there, as some collections have been doing, but that doesn't make it bad.

Thanks to Netgalley for making this book available for an honest review.

I won't be posting my review anywhere but here. This to a few bad experiences with 1 or 2 rated + review books that I got from here. If I hadn't gotten this one as a review copy I may have posted it, but now I am just going to say no.

Here is my short review:

Well.... this was weird. It really sounded like a book that I would enjoy, I do love graphic novels/comics about parenting, so I was looking forward to what this one would bring. Sadly, the only thing it brought was confusion, a slight headache, and a face stuck at What just happened-mode.

There were a few moments in the book that I enjoyed, a few of the pop culture/fandom ones, and comics that really seemed to be real and truly about parenting and not seemed fake (like when there were suddenly aliens, or other fantasy like stories).

I also was slightly annoyed with the dad. Some of the things he did and said, and allowed... nah. Just nah.

The art was so-so. Not that outstanding, and also not entirely my style.

While the concept of Parenting is alien to me, I did connect to these cartoons at a personal level, having an army load of nieces and nephews.

There were quite a lot of moments where I may have actually giggled at the illustrations. Would love to buy it to a new parent as a "Take this, sucker" gift. Haha! Jokes aside, it would be a worthy gift.

An interesting take on parenthood in graphic novel form.

Comic strip collections like this are very difficult to hand sell, however much I might enjoy them. I do like these comics and have read them online for a while. As a book there is a greater niche market that comes through, the support for geek culture and mental health comments are well placed but do reduce the size of the market for what would otherwise be a cute parenting strip (surely there is a big enough market for that!) Some strips are funnier than others, as always the universal truths work best (lying to children, dinosaur games) and there's an especially lovely strip about wanting to have two dads. Good luck!!

An awesome title for parents. I can think of a few I will be giving this to as a birthday present.
