Alex's police officer husband is stabbed to death. It's been 6 months and the murderer has never been caught. Alex's best friend is her late husband's partner, Peter.

Peter is looking into this murder on his own time ... he knows why it was done, but he can't prove it yet. He and Alex's husband were part of an internet crime task force. Because Alex won't quit asking questions, she has also become a target of a faceless murderer.

Alex increasingly turns to Peter for help, comfort, and protection, not knowing yet that Peter has been in love with her for many years.

The first half of the book deals mainly with the suspense part of this Romantic Suspense. Peter battles a corrupt supervisor, and can't trust any of his colleagues in case they are also involved.

The second half of the book is mainly the romance ... Alex and Peter are at odds most of the time. Peter is too good to be true. He has this annoying habit of kissing Alex on the forehead. I started rolling my eyes every time it happened ... which was a lot.

Alex was almost manic in some places ... wanting Alex and then turning around and yelling at him for one thing or another.

When they finally get their heads straight and make a move to the future ... the past comes back to haunt both of them.
