I did a very dumb thing; I requested this book and picked it up before I realized that it was the third book in a series. As a result, my read of this felt very confused and riddled with missing information. Which makes sense, ultimately, because I’m missing a whole two books worth of content! I feel weird rating it, therefore, since I’m not entirely sure how reading the first two books in the series would inform my reading of this book.

Thus, I think this is one that I will have to come back to in the future once I’ve had the time to read the series as a whole. In the meantime, I think I can say I see a lot of merit to the story overall but I definitely want to have all that background information!

I received this free eARC novel from NetGalley. This is my honest review.

I feel like a broken record saying how much I've fallen in love with this series, but I'm still over here with stars in my eyes after another amazing, fantastic novel in this storyline. I don't know the last time I was this amazed by a book that I've read and to be able to read a book a day so far while working is pretty fantastic. I wish I could read all 5 in one day though.

Alex is amazing. Spectacular. And such a badass. She is a mortal doing things no other being in any universe has done. The amount of love and determination and faith she has is indescribable.

Also? I saw reviews gushing about Niyx and I couldn't understand it. I now understand it and I'm all about the gushing. I'm not sure how this will all work out with who Alex may end up with, but I gotta say, I'm here for whatever this fantastic author is about to unleash. I'm trusting Lynette Noni with my emotional heart cause I'm truly invested in this series and these characters. When I'm done I just know I'm going to have the biggest book hangover.

This series just keeps getting better and better. I won’t go into details because, ya know, spoilers, but in this one Alex travels to Meya, agrees to undertake a Meyan “warrior trial” of sorts, and ends up going on something of a journey, during which she- and we- learns a whole lot of stuff about a whole lot of stuff.

Also, draekons are SO DANG COOL.

I loved this instalment in the series. I’d have loved to have seen more of certain characters, but I loved learning so much about the characters we did get to spend time with, their history and a lot of their motivations. Character development, check. World building, check. Sentient library, check. Draekons, check. What more does a girl need in a fantasy novel?

There was too much going on in the beginning of the story to keep me interested and I didn’t feel connected to the characters enough to keep reading.

I really enjoyed Draekora. Any new addition to the Akarnae universe is amazing. This novel had twists and turns and kept me turning pages, just like the previous books. I can't wait to see what Lynette Noni comes up with next.

So I am always loving new fantasy novels. I quickly got through this one because a friend said it was awesome and I should read it. I enjoyed it but it never gave me that "wow" factor. Id give it as a gift to friends who like this kind of stuff. The cover is beautiful and I would like to know more from the other books in the series.

I had a really tough time connecting with the story and the characters. The writing was well done but I am not quite sure I will be reading the next installment.

Oh. My. Goodness. These books just keep getting better! And its not just the dizzying adventures or the enchanting landscape or the delightful characters, its the depth of her characters and their relationships that makes Noni's book so great. And the wickedly funny sarcasm too.

Think you know everything there is to know about Aven, Roka, Kiya, and Zain? Woah boy, think again! AND there are dragons.

Alex goes on an adventure she never could have dreamed, one in which she travels to the past before Aven turned evil. See Roka and Aven's family before they were rent in two. Discover a land of dragons, I mean draekora, up above the clouds. See Aven's motivations through completely different eyes. Once I started reading, I could not stop. The story and character growth did not let me go.

Wow, brilliantly done. Miss Noni, just go ahead drop the mic because you killed it with book 3!

This book drew me in and kept me in its world!! Wow!! I haven't read the fittest 2 books, but I felt like I wasn't missing admit details I needed. The book was written so well though that I want to go back and read the series in order. Best fantasy I've read so far this year!

This is a great read, awesome work can’t wait to finish the series wishing it wouldn’t end but everything points to it being amazing!

At the start of this book, I worried that I would have trouble remembering who was who among Alex's many friends and acquaintances -- but it turns out that Lynette Noni was pulling what's become her usual trick of the "too-fast opener" that's there only to lead into a compelling story that upends what you think you know and quickly draws you into a new adventure where the stakes get even higher.

This installment continues the first two, but is also totally different by way of its setting. I don't want to spoil it, so I'll just say that by the end of the book (which I could barely put down), I was both sad to see the action returning to the "usual" setting of the previous books, and glad of it, in that I look forward to seeing how the consequences of Alex's latest adventure will play out next time.

Noni is not always the best writer from a technical standpoint, but she sure is a great storyteller, full of imagination and heart. This series is such a fun blend of beloved genre tropes and fresh new ideas, and I love it.

Draekora by Lynette Noni
***I received this arc from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review***

This book has an extraordinarily gorgeous cover which was part of the reason I requested it! The publisher did a fantastic job creating a cover that fit this book really well.

I had read the other two books in the series, but it’s been a little while, so I had to go back and brush over pages to remember exactly what happens. I was relieved when I realized this book literally picks up right where the last one left off. Additionally, it was great to see the wit and humor between the characters were also back even if the war was looming on the horizon! Poor Jordan! It was disappointing when Alex had to stay in Meya without D.C. and Bear! It became apparent that this parting was crucial to further the story and I grew to like the new characters as well.

I have to say this book kind of branched off from the previous two and I liked where the author took it! It’s so refreshing when authors get new ideas and take characters to new places instead of continuing the same old grind for book after book.

Characters to LOVE!

Draekora! I first have to go with my favorite new character for which the book is named after! I’m a sucker for Dragon books so the fact that Alex gets to interact with one in this great series just makes it even better! I did see the little dragon on the cover and hoped against hope that Draekora was either the place that Alex visits or had something to do with the little dragon but once we were introduced to this character I was smitten! One of my favorite parts of the book was when Alex visited his world and we got to see a place where dragons call home! Also loved how Draekora and Alex are fitted together with a bond! I can’t wait to see how this plays out in the next book!

Alex is a perfect example of what a heroine should be. She is brave and courageous and learns from her mistakes. She has an open mind and is always ready to take on a challenge. However, she doesn’t lose her sense of humor or sense of self which I highly commend the author for doing as it makes her seem more human. Even though she has a crucial part to play in the outcome of the war she still just a girl. I look forward to the next book, so I can see how everything she has learned comes into play and what new adventures await Alex!

Roka is a new face that I really enjoyed seeing in this book! Everyone needs a good wing man and Roka is more than happy to fill the shoes for all of his friends and family or anyone that they deem important to them. He’s fierce and protective and just loyal to a point. I feel like Roka is the perfect balance to Aven. They are like Yin and Yang when it comes to helping the humans. I was pretty sad at his outcome and I don’t know how he will be able to continue on in the next book while he is in a coma!

Niyx had me all confused! I think that he is playing one heck of a game with Alex! He cannot just up and decide to be on the straight and narrow! I did like that he was trying to do better but I still think he’s up to no good! I guess we shall see!

Aven! What happened to you!!! I knew that the moment that had he confessed his love for Alex and she turned him down flat that things were going to take a turn for the worse! And it killed me!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sigh, as rotten as he can be, Aven is one of my favorites!!!!!

There were some more Medorans that were introduced in the book, but I did not really feel a connection with them. So, I will leave you with the best!

Conclusion:
Lynette Noni has once again delivered a book that uses fantasy with adventure in an interesting way! There are so many great things about this book and I cannot wait to continue this series! I would definitely recommend this book to people who like young adults, fantasy, and/or adventure novels because it ticks off all of the boxes within the genres!

Thank you to Netgalley, Lynette Noni, and Pantera Press for allowing me to read the next installment of this great series!

I ended up not being able to read this book because I was unaware that it was part of a series. I am super thankful for the chance but until i can get ahold of the other book i dont want to jump in this one and review it not knowing what is going on.

Once again, I love this series, and the characters that are created within this story. With that being said, this so far is my least favorite installment of the series. Now, seeing that I still gave it a 4 out of 5 stars, I gave the first and second book a 5 out of 5. The main reason I did not like this as much as the others is because the characters I love were barely in here. With that being said, I understand why this book was important, and I was very shocked about this information that was learned in this book. Also, I have some new favorite characters because of this third book. I am really excited for the 4th book to come out, and as always, I can not wait to continue with this story!
