We have a little bit of second chance going on here and some the one that got away. She had him as her first kiss and nothing has been the same.

I have not read the previous book in the series, but I think this can read as a standalone. You do not need the previous book but the characters are so interesting that I really am going to go back and pick it up. Saylor and Oliver meet in the previous book and we can guess that the meeting did not go well. In this book, Saylor and Oliver connect again when they each are chosen as best man and maid of honor for their friends' wedding. the attraction is off the charts and Oliver does everything he can to maneuver the situation. Saylor tries to resist, but not really. Saylor is strong, sassy and loyal to a fault. She does what she thinks is necessary to protect her friends. Oliver is loyal to his friends, but he came off as somewhat of a jerk. Even then, you really have to like him. He is the typical manwhore until he reconnects with Saylor. He is a little confused by his behavior but just rolls with it. They both have secrets. We find out what Saylor's secret is, but Oliver is struggles with being honest with his own conscious. This story does end in a cliffhanger which makes me have to wait for the next installment. I still recommend the story. The writing is pretty good and the characters are great.

So guys… see that warning at the end of the blurb? Yeah… it wasn’t a part of Netgalley blurb, which means that I thought this book could be read as a standalone, only to understand almost at the end that NOPE. In fact, Oliver and Saylor’s story will be told in THREE PARTS! Yeah… 3! I have to admit that it didn’t make me love the book more.

While I haven’t read the first book in this series, I did read the novella, Catch You, and I had quite enjoyed the writing, so I was super disappointed that the writing on this novel just didn’t work for me. At all! I felt it was to curt and direct, and it somehow didn’t go that well with the story itself. I just really couldn’t connect with it.

Then there’s the characters. I have to say that I was intrigued by Oliver and Saylor. Clearly they both had some pretty messed up pasts and presents, and there’s more to both of them than meets the eye at first, but while I think the book did a good job letting us get to know Saylor, it just didn’t work on the same level with Oliver. I was intrigued by him, but after the whole book I couldn’t tell you WHO he was.

The plot though, kept me hooked, and more than anything that’s what’s making me want to read the sequels. Because these two characters have chemistry, even if I think that they aren’t completely “whole” yet, and the plot is very interesting and I kind of need to know what will happen next.

So, would I recommend it? Yeah, maybe, but it’s tough to tell without actually knowing the whole story. I don’t mind several books about a single couple, but what I don’t like is feeling like something is being kept from me the whole freaking book. I seriously can’t deal well with that.

With that said, read it if you’re interested. Or if you like me and don’t like the “incomplete” feeling that this book left me with, maybe just wait for the sequels to come out? That’s what I would have done, had I known…

M.H. Soars

Arg! I hate cliffhangers. I don't want to wait to find out what happens.
But this was a great book. Started off strong and now I can't wait to read the next one. So the author has done an awesome job with this one.
This was my first M.H. Soars book and it def won't be my last.
I didn't read book 1 of this series so I was a little confused at some parts but that was my fault for not reading in order.
This is Saylor and Oliver's story. Saylor is Olivia's maid of honor and Oliver is Sebastian's best man. Oliver comes off as basically a douche but he grows on you over time. Saylor can't seem to say no to him no matter how hard she tries. Super cute romance between them. But I will have to wait till the next book to find out if they make it as a couple.
I would def recommend this series to add to your tbr list.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for a fair review.

Having read both Wonderwal and Catch You previously I really wanted to read Sugar, We're Going Down because to be honest Saylor and Oliver were some of my favorite characters and I wanted a book about them. Well, let me tell you this book wasn't what I was expecting and I didn't enjoy it as much as I wanted to.

As I said before, I really loved Saylor and Oliver in Wonderwall but for some reason I didn't like them as much in this one. It looks like reading from their POV's didn't help at all. While I still think Saylor is a kick ass girl I also think she has a lot of things she needs to deal with and it would have been so much better if she had opened up about that to someone. I don't even know what to say about Oliver... I think his story wasn't fleshed out and I didn't get the sense of who he is and how he is. There was something missing about these characters that didn't make me connect with them. Also, while they were hot together I still think there wasn't that much between them the things were way too fast... actually, the whole book was kind of fast and that caused a weird pacing. I still enjoyed the story and I really need to know what is going to happen next. Come on, I need to know if Saylor will change her mind about a certain thing.

But here's the thing that frustrated me the most. Saylor and Oliver are about to be the maid of honor and best man in Liv and Sebastian's wedding (the main characters from Wonderwall) and that's why Oliver ends up moving to California. Not only that but Liv and Sebastian are some of the most important people in Saylor and Oliver's lives. I was really annoyed that they barely showed up in this book and when they did it was only to bring drama. I didn't like that in the end Saylor and Oliver barely cared about their best friends wedding. And I especially didn't like that there was some unnecessary drama between Liv and Bas in the day before their wedding. I'm still trying to understand why that would happen because everything was solved in less than 2 hours and nothing changed to any of the characters. There were a few more things I didn't like in this book but the main thing is that there were a lot of things that were not explained. This book will have 3 parts (more about that later) so there are a lot of things that were talked about or mentioned but in the end nothing was discussed about those things. For example, we know something might have happened in Oliver's past but do we know what? NO. I'm still trying to figure out what the hell happened that left him so messed up. I also would have loved to see Saylor and Oliver talking about her past and about what was happening in her life and that just didn't happen and it frustrated me because I needed them to talk about those things. Now, here's the thing, I feel betrayed right now. I had NO IDEA there would be two other books about Saylor and Oliver, like no idea at all. I started suspecting it when I was at around 90% of the book and there was still a lot to be talked about. I would have been okay if it was something without a cliffhanger, but noooo... it has a huge cliffhanger and while this was not the best book I've ever read I still want to read the other two because I need to know what happens next. However, while I do understand why the author thinks she needs two more books (these are her books after all) I still think that if things were done in a different way those would not be necessary and everyone would be super happy by now.

Overall, while I enjoyed this book it still had a lot of problems that I hope are solved by the next book. However, I do want to read the next two parts because I need closure and I really need to know what will happen next. I'm also hoping to get to know a little bit more about Oliver and his past.

Actual Rating 4.5

Yay, Ollie and Saylor!

I have been waiting for these characters to get their own book for ages. I fell in love with them in book 1 and couldn't wait to see how their palpable tension evolved.

Sugar, We're Going Down kept me hooked and turning the pages at a rapid rate. Written in Soars' easy style, I was swept along with the characters, being drawn into their love, fights, and torment.

The book definitely took a different turn to what I was expecting, especially Saylor's part. However, I found it a surprising twist that I did enjoy. It added more complications and plot to make this more than a simple romance.

As for the characters, the chemistry and tension between Ollie and Saylor was great. It built nicely in their game of cat and mouse and their denial of their true feelings. I thought the author did an amazing job of developing their feelings and relationship.

My only complaint is that this book left on a massive cliffhanger and is going to be in three parts. I've been desperately waiting for Ollie and Saylor's story, and while I'm glad I'm going to get a lot of them, I would have liked to know this up front. It wouldn't have stopped me reading or requesting it, but it would have meant I didn't spend the last 10% wondering how the author was going to tie everything up and make it satisfying--something that would have been impossible. I kept waiting to be let down rather than focusing on the book. I'm also not sure how three books are going to be filled right now, two seems to fit at the moment, but I can't wait to find out.

Overall, it definitely lived up to what I wanted from these characters and I can't wait for the next instalment.

EDIT: I received a copy from NetGalley where there was no cliffhanger warning. I notice there is on Goodreads.

Sugar, We're Going Down is the 3rd in the Love Me, I'm Famous series, but stands alone for the most part. Oliver, bad boy, womanizing former rock star/boy band member, best friend of Sebastian (Wonderwall). Saylor, kickass heroine, lead singer of an up and coming band, best friend of Liv (Wonderwall). They first met when their two best friends hooked up. It was hate at first sight with some lust thrown in, especially on Oliver's side. Now, they're thrown together to help plan Liv and Sebastian's wedding and damn, do those sparks fly!!

I love, love Saylor, I can't even tell you how much. She's strong, kind, a kickass fighter and survivor, and loyal as hell. Oliver was harder for me to connect to, mostly because of his arrogance, but in his heart he's a sweet guy just waiting for the right woman (Saylor) to come along, knock him on his ass and bring him to his knees. Their relationship is all kinds of sexy, and I just knew it wasn't going to be easy for them, and it wasn't. And damn, that cliffhanger came out of nowhere! Yep, I said cliffhanger, everyone, so if those aren't your thing, then wait until all three (yes, 3!!!) parts are released before reading.

It was nice to see Owen and Kimberly again (my favorite couple in this wonderful world MH has created), but Sugar, We're Going Down is more Saylor and Oliver's story. Now, if the second and third parts of this story would hurry up and magically appear on my Kindle, I'd be a happy, happy woman!

First kisses are the best but with Oliver it was way over the best! I am pretty upset because I really don't want to wait to see what is about to happen. I want to read about it now. Saylor and Oliver's relationship (but that isn't what they are calling it) that is suppose to only last a week is something you don't want to miss out on. although this is a short story and I feel it would've been much better with giving us all of the story at once... I really enjoyed it!

I can't resist a good rock star romance, to the extent that I'm writing my own, and when I find a really good one I'm as happy as a pig in the proverbial. This is a good one. So good, I'll even forgive it that cliffhanger ending. There's something so exhilirating about a hate-hate relationship that just can't avoid turning into something more, and Soars writes it so well. Saylor and Oliver are both brilliant characters, and I'll definitely be downloading the first book in the series to read as soon as possible, now that I've had a glimpse of the other characters. A great addition to the genre, can't wait for the end to the story!

Sugar, We're Going Down is book 2 of the "Love Me, I'm Famous" series. The previous 2 books have been standalones, which introduced the secondary characters for this book. This one will end in a cliffhanger and be continued into the next book.

We begin with Oliver, the hot, sinful rocker and Saylor, the strong aspiring rock star that who holds people at a arm's length. When they first meet they have this undeniable attraction, but Oliver's cockiness causes Saylor to immediately dislike him.

They go their separate ways, but are brought back together for their best friend's wedding. This time they can no longer fight the attraction and what starts as a one night stand ends up becoming much more.

Oliver & Saylor both have had traumatic experiences that have damaged them. They are not looking for attachments, but emotions get involved and the past comes to haunt them. I love that in the story you can feel the forces drawing these two characters together and them fighting it.

When you read this book be prepared for love, lust, lots of angst and of course there is a twist thrown in! I would definitely recommend this book. If you like a bad boy rocker that has a soft heart then you will love this book!!

I was not a big fan of this book, it all felt a little rushed and forced to me, when I had requested this book I didn’t realize it was the second in a series, I figured it was like the other New Adult “series” I have read where they are technically companion novels and you didn’t have to read the other books to understand what was happening to this book, that was my fault not the authors fault but I was really lost for a while. I also didn’t really like Oliver’s character. I did however like Saylor’s character as I felt she was well flushed out.

I give this book a 2 out of 5 stars.

Will update with links to where I posted my review online closer to the release date. (Final review might change slightly but will have the same basic message).

There are times Oliver can act so nonchalant about things, "understanding finally dawns on his stupid face. “Oh, that’s what’s eating you. Yeah, sugar. I’m clean. I always wear a condom and I’ve been tested.” Oliver can be real sweet on Saylor when she asks for something there are times the man doesn't hesitate, “don’t. Would you lay next to me, please?” She doesn’t need to ask twice. I take my shoes and my jeans off before slipping under the covers..." There is a cliffhanger at the end of the book, I wasn't expecting that hopefully the next book comes out quick.

Can't give this book an accurate review, because I skipped many chapters, and ended up DNFing it. Just wasn't for me. either that, or my mind wasn't in it. sorry. Might try it again at a later date.

This was a steamy, short read! I didn't realize it would end on a cliffhanger, but now I can't wait to read the rest of the story!

Oliver and Saylor's story is full of ups and downs, and my heart broke for them in a few places. All in all, it was an entertaining read and I can't wait to find out the rest!

Before I begin I want to say I have never read anything this author wrote before. I have never even heard of her. So going into this story I just liked the sound of this description. I LOVED the story but before I get to that you should know, this is a PART 1. The book ends on a HUGE cliff, beyond HUGE. And had I known I would have never read this book because I hate book serials where you get part 1 and part 2 and part 20. The author says at the end of the book that she could not fit it all in one book. But this book should have a warning that its a part 1 of a story. I don't know if her other books are in parts, but this one definitely is. Will I read part 2. YES. Without a doubt. Because despite the cliff its a wonderful story and I am totaly hooked on finding out what happens next. But would I read another new character from this author, no because I hate serials and cliffy books and would not trust her after this.

This story starts out with a kiss but its HOT but more of an end than a beginning. Then the story begins with Oliver who is this hot, sexy, former rocker who is in the middle of an orgy. Yeah, totally turned me off him. BUt the book then gets better as we meet Saylor and I really liked her. She has a very tragic story but also a wonderful life and group of friends.

When her bestie and OLivers bestie announce they are getting married in Hawaii well thats when Oliver tries hard to form any kind of relationship with Saylor. I really loved their story, romance and history. Its a little hate on and then angry sex until they admit they like each other.

But Saylor has a BIG secret, well a few but one that made this book and I couldn't wait to find out what would happen with that storyline. Which is why I hated the cliff. All in all this was well written and I loved all the characters. I just wished I had the ending.

Saylor and Oliver’s story was made up of denial, heartbreak, friendships, and a lot of off the charts chemistry. Neither of them wanted to get into a relationship past what a week of fun could give them; anyway that’s how it started. Oliver is a famous rock star who is playing best man at his friend’s wedding and said friend is getting married to Saylor’s best friend which is making her the maid of honor. Their first meeting sparks flew and you wouldn’t think that they could be in the same room long enough for their friends to say their vows. Then the kiss happened. Enough said.

Saylor had a major life change coming and she didn’t want to take Oliver down with her so what should she do? Saylor’s main idea was to give her and Oliver the one week before she would have to walk away. Be prepared because this is a cliffhanger and boy, does it leave you hanging! I can’t wait to continue with Saylor and Oliver’s story.

I received this book as an ARC for a freely given honest review.

Gah, how can you end it like this!? Now finding out about part 2 AND 3!? Sigh. I hope it's not too long of a wait. I love this kind of trope and how Ollie and Saylor has grown and are still trying to navigate through their feelings and changes in their hearts and lives, that has yet still to develop in the next installments. I really feel for Saylor, Ollie too, but for the inner turmoil she's going through with her impending health concerns hovering over her head. I wish she didn't think she'd have to go through this alone but it'll all be revealed in the next book I'm sure. Fingers crossed for these two.

Sugar, We're Going Down by M.H. Soars is the second book I've read by this author and the second book in the Love Me, I'm Famous series, which I also read and can't really remember and unfortunately the author didn't remind me like she should have done being as they're the same characters in the series. Which brings me to my second complaint, there are way too many secondary characters to keep track off, all play important parts in the story but they were a jumbled mess to me so I didn't even bother trying to keep up with them after a while and it was a huge distraction to the story. My major complaint is that this book is 3 part story come to find out and ends on a cliffhanger which I really hate and had I realized that going into the book I would not have bothered reading this at all. I really believe that there should be disclaimers when there is going to be a cliffhanger, it's just not fair to the readers. It was a decent romance book though and I am curious how it's going to turn out. If you enjoy cliffhangers and stories based upon famous characters then you will love this series because it is chalk full of celebrities. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for a honest review.

Fun story- moved a little too quickly in some parts. And didn't explain some of the backstory that I felt was necessary to fully understand the characters and their motives. I usually dislike cliffhangers but it worked here and I want to read the next books in this series.
