I just couldn’t get into this story and I can’t really say why other than it didn’t hold my attention and it dragged for me at times. The story just wasn’t for me. I’m sure others will love it.

Arnaud de Sillegue d'Athos is one of the French king's musketeers. He has decided it's time to retire from the service and have a quieter life on his own estates. A chance encounter with a beautiful and mysterious woman will delay him.
Emmanuelle Vazet is a peasant woman whose parents where murdered by the king's men. Since then she has been trained to take revenge . Her training has been unorthodox and intense.
Our heroine is the ultimate kick ass woman. Way ahead of her time in fighting techniques. Our poor hero gets absolutely battered several times in this story, it's a wonder his ego survived. Old secrets and crimes come back to bite our characters. There is a particularly nasty and strong villain.
A wonderful adventure, romance set in medieval France.
I loved every page.

This book was so overwhelming in details that it bogged the story down. Did not enjoy the swashbuckling themes nor the characters.
