Tracy Brogan brought yet another novel that made me laugh out loud and brought tears to my eyes.

I am giving this book 3.5 stars. For me, maybe not another reader, I couldn't really bond with the characters until maybe the 50% mark and even then I wasn't consumed with them.

Yet, Emily and Ryan are a great slow burn couple. I enjoyed their banter. I enjoyed how funny the situation with their families were. Their lives seemed like a train wreck waiting to happen. And as the reader I just couldn't look away.

The comic relief by the supporting characters and Chloe is hands down my favorite pre-teen.

Thoroughly enjoyed this sweet romance! The characters are great and the town of Trillium Bay is a charming backdrop for the story. I loved the resourcefulness of Chloe - she's a terrific kid. This is a great summer read - take it to the beach and enjoy!

This was an engaging, entertaining story. It started a little slow but the interactions with the supporting characters made up for it. Tracy Brogan has an easy descriptive writing style that I really enjoy. The plot draws you in & the character development keeps you interested. I will be watching for the next one.

If you like a sweet romance with back and forth witty/flirty banter between two adversaries to lovers that is laced with humor mostly brought upon by the small town setting/great sub-characters where everyone knows your name and your business, Tracy Brogan is likely your kind of author. So far each book I’ve read by her pretty much fits that description, and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed each and every one.

Emily and Ryan immediately felt an attraction but right off the bat things got complicated, folks. Ryan pretty much put his foot in his mouth the moment he made false assumptions/derogatory comments aloud about his dad’s new “decades” younger girlfriend. It’s no wonder Emily took it as a declaration of war. Even though they both actually were on the same side, it took quite some time for them to see eye to eye and ultimately heart to heart.

Though I wish the sibling involved would have at least been the oldest, I tried not to think too much about what felt like an inappropriate age difference between the featured sub-couple.

With writing that flowed, relationship/family/work related dramas, some main couple steamy, passionate kisses that eventually lead to giving into temptation, I did enjoy my time spent in Trillium Bay and can’t help but wonder who will be featured in book 2.

My Kind of You is the first book I've read by Tracy Brogan and, with a writing style which was easy to get along with and a cast of quirky, funny characters, she's an author I'll be checking out again. I love an enemies-to-lovers story and this is one which doesn't bring too much drama. Divorcee and single mum, Emily Callaghan is returning home to help her Gran renovate a rental property and repay her 10k loan when, whilst stranded at the airport, she meets developer, Ryan Taggert, also on his way to the island to find out what his wayward dad is playing at. And they have a lovely rapport from the start with little nudges from Emily's fantastic 12-year old daughter, Chloe.

"...here in Trillium Bay, we take our courting slowly."

Whilst enjoyable, my slightly lower rating is for two reasons: I felt it was a little slow building in the romance department, and whilst Emily and Ryan were endearing, at the same time I was a wee bit irritated by some of their actions--I actually preferred the secondary characters who bolstered the story up by providing some great humour.

Overall My Kind of You is an easy, engaging read in a beautiful setting which has set things up nicely for more the Trillium Bay series, which I look forward to reading.

This is the first book in Ms Brogan’s new series , Trillium Bay. A town in Michigan filled with quirky, nosy dwellers .
The story centers around Emily Chambers, who has returned home after a divorce , with no money and hopes of mending fences with her father. She wants to renovate an old house as a means to get a loan.
Ryan, is a land developer , in business with his brothers. He has been sent to the town to check on his father’s girlfriend’s intensions, who is Emily’s sister, and protect the family business. In the midst of family loyalties, these two are attracted to each other.
It’s a story about family relationships, or lack thereof, about forgiveness , going back home in hopes of a do-over and about love. Mix in some laughter, and you have a winner.

Loved, loved this book!!! Emily, single mom, broke has returned home for the summer to Trillium Bay to help flip a house. The last thing she was expecting to meet a man. Ryan arrives to Trillium Bay for family issues. They first meet in route to the island. They both have family issues and are only going to be there for a short time, why start something you can't finish. They soon can't fight their mutual attraction. But the island is small, everyone knows everyone's business, love it.

This book will have you laughing out loud, and you might even shed a few tears. Lots of family drama with both characters. Both characters are very likable. Oh so good. The typical small Michigan town that I loved vacationing in growing up, brought back so many memories. Small town homemade fudge, I could almost smell it myself. I can't wait to read the next book in the series. I highly recommend this book!!

This is a real gem of a book – I definitely recommend it to you in all circumstances except one... if you have had surgery and it will hurt to laugh, because truly some of the things you read will have you in fits of giggles.

When we speak of genres, we never mention the "island off the coast of" romance – and yet there are some truly superb examples – and this is clearly going to be a winning series in the game. There is a huge advantage, of course, on an island, as the characters are, to say the least, curious, quaint, and hidden treasures. Ms. Brogan has had great fun creating a whole host of entertaining islanders for our delectation. She threw in a few rather fabulous ones too – and then stirred the pot with two men from outside, who are getting involved in things that may burn their fingers.

What with family feuds, issues of ageism, and two people in particular who have chemistry in bucket loads, this is a refreshingly funny and passion-filled read. There are some scenes which will have me chuckling for weeks, possibly years to come, and I cannot wait to see where the Trillium Bay series leads us next.

Twelve years ago, Emily left Wenniway Island. She ran off with her summer romance, and burned all her bridges on the way. Now divorced and with a twelve year old daughter she is flat broke and back on the island. Her grandmother has offered her a lifeline, a job renovating one of her cottages and turning it into high end tourist accomodation.

When he meets Emily there is an immediate attraction but his home is Sacramento and her home is San Antonio. And as they get to know each other the complications just keep piling up.

Contemporary Romance is very much a safe place for me. But in the sub-genre that is CR there is both good and bad. Tracy Brogan is well and truly in the good camp. Her stories are about family, relationships, love and home. She always delivers exactly what I want from CR.

Delightfully sexy and amazingly hilarious! Tracy Brogan has done it again!

I could not put this book down. Emily and Ryan's story is embroiled with their efforts to separate her younger sister from his sexagenarian father to no avail. Lily and Tag. She is twenty-six and he is in his sixties. Emily is concerned for her little sister and Ryan is worried his dad will do something he will regret later. Unexpectedly, love is in the air. Emily and Ryan better watch out!

The magic that is this little imaginary island of Wenniway Island comes alive as we meet the inhabitants with all their quirks and gossip. Feuds alight, fudge is in the air, and you will never spend a dull moment with this cast of characters.

I loved the fit of Emily and Ryan as a couple. They are both real and easy to relate with. For me the real star of the book is her sassy twelve-year-old daughter Chloe, who was at times the best source of reason in the chaotic adult world Emily is living in. I would recommend this to anyone who loves a heartwarming story full of cleaver wit and a few quirky characters.

I began reading Tracy Brogan's MY KIND OF YOU last night around 10 pm. At 2:30 am, I was still awake reading and laughing so loud and hard I was sure I was going to wake up the people in the condo next door. I finally called it quits when I fell asleep while reading and my Kindle fell on my face and split my lip. That's the only reason! I went right back to reading as soon as I woke up today and finished it with a smile and a satisfied sigh. This funny, heartwarming, can't-put-it-down story is just what you need to brighten your day...as long as you don't fall asleep holding a Kindle. ;-)
