Giant dogs, little kids -- this is perfect! I wish that the book's photos went on and on! It makes me wish that I'd taken more photos of my kids with my big dogs, but I'm not a great photographer....

'Little Kids and Their Big Dogs' by Andy Seliverstoff is a photography book with amazing and adorable pictures of children and dogs.

The author is a popular photographer from St. Petersburg, Russia. He is know for his work at dog shows. In the introduction to this book, he talks about how this project came about. Each set of photos has a short story about the child in the dog. These stories are whimsical and in them the child and the dog often have dialogue.

I wasn't crazy about the short stories. Maybe the book is meant to be shared with the young. The pictures, however, are breathtaking and beautiful. To see a small child playing with a large dog like a Great Dane or a Bracchi Italiani is to see into the heart of these dogs. The pictures are full of color and action. I enjoyed my trip into the world of this book.

Little Kids and Their Big Dogs is an absolutely charming photo collection that animal lovers and families will greatly enjoy. Each of the breathtaking action shots showcase the sheer joy that comes when children and dogs play together. These beautiful gentle giants are playmates, loving companions and protectors. It is easy to see the love they have for their young friends. The text that accompanies each set of pictures is wonderful. The children and dogs speak sweetly and gently with each other. There is love and respect. The dogs are noble, as well as generous of heart.

Seliverstoff’s photos are amazing. The photos eloquently capture the magnificence of these large exotic breeds as they joyfully run, leap and frolic with small children. I especially loved the wiry furred wolfhound and the puli with the long gorgeous dreadlocks.

Little Kids and Their Big Dogs is one of the most charming photo books I have come across. It would make a great gift for families with small children or animal lovers.

So I'm reading a galley and only half the book is complete. Must of the stories are missing, but the pictures will send you on an awwhhhhhh fest. The dogs and the kids are so cute it could kill you. To pick a fav pic is hard, but the commodore pictures and the kid who looks like he is dressed for the Wizarding World are probably my favs.

Wonderful, entertaining book. The pictures are beautiful. I had followed this photographer online so I was so excited to get the book. Inspires me to try harder to learn photography. The title, kids and dogs, describes page after page of them in action. I love the little storyline throughout. Books like this make you pick them up and for a little while just escape and go to a peaceful place.

Andy Seliverstoff is well known as a dog show photographer in Russia and throughout Europe. But once he started taking pictures of little kids and their big dogs he saw the "endless joy and mutual confidence between the children and the animals." His first collection of these pictures, Little Kids and Their Big Dogs conveys this message loud and clear: "Love for dogs and children make people kinder." Just try looking at these pictures and not break out in a big grin.

The first thing you notice about this book is how huge these dogs are! I rarely see dogs this big. (Of course, I don't spend my time at dog shows like Mr. Seliverstoff does.) And the kids are so cute and little. The contrast between the two, as you would guess from the title, is striking. But on a deeper level is the way Seliverstoff has captured the relationship between the kids and the dogs. It's evident each enjoys and adores the other.

I will resist the temptation to run out and find a giant dog to bring home. I'm sorry, but as wonderful as they look in the picture I know they will eat copious amounts of dog food and leave enormous deposits on my lawn. Hopefully these cute kids are also learning to care for and clean up after their large friends.

Dog lovers and kid lovers will enjoy every page of this beautifully photographed book.

There is so much joy in these photos of large, powerful dogs being so sweet and gentle with the children who love them.

“When I look into the eyes of an animal, I do not see an animal.
I see a living being. I see a friend. I feel a soul.”

― Anthony Douglas Williams

And dogs are really humans best friends. I have yet to met a more noble, loyal and great friend - and being - than my dog.
That said, I have to say that the pics and texts of this book really touched me :)

I was expecting to find "simply" a recollection fof pics with kids and their dogs, but this book is so much more: the book is sort of divided in series of shoots of different kids with their dogs, and every section has a an introduction which puts us into situation, telling us something about the kid and the dog/s we are about to meed, which is very cool because we feel more connected to them.
And the pics are really amazing and full of life, and we find a bit of everything: pics full of joy, movement, intimate moments, and a big etcetera.

Obviously, by the tittle of the book you know it is going to be a book about big gods (mastiff, afghan, leonberger, dane, etc), but I also would love to see a book from this author featuring smallish dogs, too! :)

There is something about the relationship
between Man and Dog
that is essential to story of Humanity.
The bond that these two species share
reaches back to the dawn of time
(with out exaggeration)
Nothing brings the ties that we share
into better focus than seeing children with
their dogs.
Humans instinctively love and trust these
often large and dangerous creatures
with our most precious thing, our children.
Knowing that when a dog loves a child
they love them like their own.
These epically beautiful pictures capture
the magic, companionship and adventure
that lies at the heart of the love
that a child and a dog share.
