3.5 in fact.
This is a book about second chances, love and trust. The chemistry between the hero and the heroine is undeniable, they are a volcano erupting when they are together. That said, the relationship -as well as the plot- seemed too weird and quick to me. Yes, it is true that in a book with less than 200 pages there may be an accelerated pace, but here I seemed to be in a 100-meter race, trying to catch up with Usain Bolt. Not to mention the fact that I was not fully hooked since the beginning of the story.
Another detail that caught my attention is that there are occasional loose ends. Why talk about Tom's work with prostitutes if it was going to be treated as superficial? Do not get me wrong, I'm not talking about the plot revolving around it, but the explanation given is a little frivolous. At the same time, Caroline's ex boyfriend, which I do not find that has contributed anything to the story, was something unnecessary.
It is worth noting that, regardless of whether it is presented to a greater or lesser extent, the author's knowledge of the Lakota tribes is evident. The lady has soaked the subject, and that is appreciated. If there is something that has always displeased me, it is reading a book in which the writer doesn't know a thing of what he/she speaks.
Sarah M. Anderson is one of my "Fetish Authors". However, this has not been her best book. Nor is it horrifying. The author knows how to capture the reader's attention so that the reader doesn't quit reading. Only that I expected more of this book awaited for years - literally. At least, the ending is perfect and idyllic. Tom deserved it.

4 1/2 STARS!
A real attention grabber! First we are hooked just from the steam the two of them let off when they first lay eyes on each other, then the danger and mystery lurking around them catches our attention again. Ideally I would have loved to have seen the pregnancy hook played out a little sooner, but overall I really enjoyed the story!
When a case he's working on brings FBI Special Agent Tom Yellow Bird into the Honorable Caroline Jennings's courtroom, his eyes are opened in a way they haven't been in years. His body awakens and he's awe struck in her presence.
Caroline is equally distracted at the sight of him, and perfectly willing to let him protect her when danger comes knocking. Will the temptation be too great and lead them to jeopardize the case they are involved in, or will Tom distance himself just in the nick of time?

I rarely meet P&P retellings that I don't have at least moderate affection for but this . . . was not even close to a retelling. This title is entirely misleading. Putting that aside, this started off pretty good. I had to suspend my disbelief right away because the "investigation" intro corruption didn't seem plausible or well described but the heat was definitely there. Tom Yellow Bird was also a fantastic love interest and had a dash of Darcy. But things went downhill quick - I should have known given how short this novel was but the romance was whirlwind on fast forward with not enough to back it up. It was always over before it began. This would worked for me with maybe even five more chapters describing a connection. Pride and Pregnancy comes out later this week on April 1, 2017, and you can purchase HERE.
She took a step toward him. It wasn't a big movement, but he felt it down to his toes. That spark that had always existed between them--it was no longer an isolated flash of light in the darkness. It was burning hotter and brighter than anything he'd ever felt before. it lit him up. She lit him up.

Quick Summary: This was a story about loss, love, passion and intrigue. Although I found the chemistry between the protagonists to be entirely present, it came off in a rushed capacity. Still, it was a captivating read.
