Quick Summary: This romance was a tough sale. The featured couple lacked chemistry. The pacing was too slow, in my opinion, and the "I love you" admissions were too rushed when they were finally professed. This story just fell flat. I generously gave this book two stars because the hero was a sweetheart and because the heroine had sass.

Eddie was a sweetheart and an awesome book boyfriend, but as others already stated, Tiffany got on my last nerve! The constant competition and childish behavior from the heroine took any enjoyment I felt about this story out the window. She was just too annoying for me to truly enjoy it, but if you can get past it, this is a nice read.

Tiffany just wants the carpenter her mother sent over to remodel her bathroom to just get things over with. For some reason he just gets under her skin. Apparently he's not just a carpenter when she finds out that he also works as a new teacher for the third grade class and she is less then thrilled. Shes always been a competitive person but he just bring out that nature in her on overdrive and they get of good natured rivalry when the school does a school fundraising contest.
Honestly I was a bit on and off when it came to Tiffany because she just needed to take a chill pill at times but then again, when she first let him into her out without credentials even if cleared by her mom seed a bit weird. Like he could've been anyone and a little lock wouldn't do much if he really wanted to get at her. That was just something in the beginning of the book that really nagged at me. I thought that she was a bit too competitive that it bordered on annoying. Then there is the sweet Eddie that I did find his characters nice, sweet and I just really liked his characters. I did like that spark between the two, while on Tiffany's side she can be a bit overbearing Eddie really balanced things out with his good natured self. Overall if your looking for a sweet yet cheesy romance with some hard headed characters when you'll want to check out this book. I really enjoyed it.

A well written, smoothly flowing tale of two teachers finding each other, again, with a little help of the matchmakers. I enjoyed the setting, of Eddie and Tiffany meeting for the third time in their lives, how those meetings had shaped their destiny, how they came to be where they are now. I like the teacher romances, always have found them fascinating, and appreciated the many scenes included in the story from the school and the activities around it with them interacting with the kids.
Eddie is the perfect hero, a truly good guy. He is kind, considerate, generous, and loyal. He keeps his promises, the kids love and admire him, he can cook, remodel the bathroom, and he is good looking as can be. The only thing I would fail him in is his taste in women.
Tiffany, she wasn't a nice person at all. She is competitive to the fault, rather mean-spirited, inconsiderate, self-centered, rude... And I waited and waited for her redemption, her to be worthy of love, care, attention, anything. But she never changed. She still wonders how Eddie can manipulate every situation so that he comes off looking like a good guy - because he is! She still is planning to out-do him in any way possible because she is jealous of his 'hero status' at the school, she still is only thinking about herself and her gain in every situation, and her benefit in every single matter, even in a charity race to collect money for the homeless, it is about her. And I wanted her to be nice, sweet, considerate person that would be a perfect match to Eddie, but that development never was shown in the story.
At the 70% mark, I laughed out loud at myself while reading, because learning about the development between these two - it was like watching an accident, you see it happen, there's nothing you can do to stop it, and you just can't turn away from it. Thankfully the story is written so well, I at least enjoyed that part of it. For Eddie and the fluently flowing tale
~ Three Spoons

Marie Ferrarella has written more than 200 books for Harlequin, and she's really got writing a good romance hero down pat. Eddie Montoya is the Perfect Man™. He's handsome, he's charming, he's hardworking, he loves small children and he's also capable of doing any jobs around the house which need doing because he's a competent part-time handyman.
The only problem with Eddie is that he has terrible taste in women. He's attracted to Tiffany, the heroine of this book, who unfortunately comes across as an absolute Grade A bitch. She's a stereotype; the Competitive Asian-American™, and absolutely everything has to be a competition where she is concerned.
Tiffany and Eddie were at teaching college together, and Tiffany took it as a personal affront that he was hard-working and smart and that she had to up her game to stay top of the class. She seems to take Eddie's entire existence as a personal affront. He's been working at her school for one day - ONE DAY - when she storms off plotting how to get him fired because she's convinced herself that he's somehow going to outdo her, in ways which are never quite specified.
In an actual quote from the book, Tiffany wonders "How did he always manage to turn things around to make them sound like he was the good guy no matter what the situation?"
I found myself saying aloud to the book "He is a good guy, Tiffany. Wow. Paranoid much?" She reminds me in several ways of my sister, who always manages to turn everything around to make herself out to be the victim, no matter what the situation, and because of this I was utterly unable to warm to her.
The book is well written, the characters are richly drawn and the situations feel very real. Unfortunately, I thought the heroine was absolutely horrible and undeserving of a happy ending with a hero as lovely as Eddie. I can't give it more than three stars.

This book is a little different. It opens up with the matchmaking mommies and this time their quest is Tiffany, an asian woman. Her sisters are all married and her mother is the intereferingm worry wart mom. So the decide to fix Tiff up with a new bathroom and handy man, Eddie who they also help get a job teaching at Tiff's school.
What Tiff and the moms don't know is Eddie knew Tiff when they were in prek and also in college but it was a competitive / hate type relationship. Eddie realises who Tiff is right away but it takes her more time. This is a very clean story. There is only one or two sex scenes and they happen very late in the story.
This is more about turning a hate relationship to friendship and then eventually realising they love each other. Its more of a calmer and sweet romance then very passionate. I did really enjoy it but I would have liked a more hot and heavy story.
It is well written and I enjoyed reading about an asian female, though her culture was not really brought into this story much.

This was such a great story. Eddie and Tiffany have a bit of a history from childhood. They wound up at the same college, always competing against each other. Tiffany's mother seeks some help with finding her love by disguising the matchmaking as a bathroom remodel. She doesn't remember Eddie at first, but when her contractor winds up working at her school, it all comes crashing back and the fireworks begin. Their interactions are humorous and i loved it. I really enjoyed the story.
