Courage by Lena Hart (Hot on Ice: A Hockey Romance Anthology

First, I loved that this story was about a couple trying to save their marriage. The author wrote an emotional, funny at times, very touching tale of two people who love each other, but have lost focus of what really matters. Mason Courage, is the hockey team coach, and it's clear he's crazy about his wife, just as it's clear Jules loves him. But despite their feelings, they've fallen into the old trap of failing to communicate and make time for each other. Such a realistic plot line and probably why I really enjoyed the story. Both are good people, great parents, and so true-to-life. This was my first book by Lena Hart and I'll definitely be checking out other books of hers.

This was an enjoyable read by Kate Meader. I loved her introduction into her new Chicago hockey series and I can't wait to read Harper's book.

I only read Kim Golden's story, but it was too heavy on narrative for my taste. I'm sure I'd enjoy some of the other stories more if I got a chance to read them. I posted a review on Goodreads.

Deep Check by Kimberly Kincaid - Finn is a man on the move. From a young age, he was always on the run. Running from the pain of abandonment and neglect. Running from feelings too hard to express. Leaving behind tattered friendships and broken hearts along the way. When a crowning moment brings him to the place and people he left behind, can his Calendar girl become his saving grace? Out of triumph comes tragedy. Deep Check has it all. Realism, heartbreak and reunions. January and Finn take personal tragedy and turn it into a winning hand. Along with a bit of help but an often mentioned but never seen guardian angel. Deep Check is a story of soul searching that broke our hearts, but healed the soul. (4.5 stars)

In Skates Trouble by Kate Meader - She's playing hard to get. Is he up for the challenge? Kate Meader is a no holds barred romantic. In Skates Trouble proves it. Her cat and mouse formula of bad boy seeking mystery woman was well played. Ford and Addison are wicked sexy and eerily romantic. She keeps him on his toes, while easily stealing his heart. The thrill of the chase is worth the wait. (5 stars)

"Hot on Ice".... [Bear Naked] by Katie Kenyhercz

My Thoughts....

Will these two Bear Thompson and Aria Paul finally get their HEA? They had know each other but circumstances had caused one to leave. I found this was a beautifully written story of how what will be will be. Now, it may take a while for all of it to work out as it was for these to but in the end well you will just have to pick up this good read by the author to see how this will all finally come out for Bear and Aria. It will not be a easy road for these two for they both had so much going on in the present life. Who will be willing to change their situation? I found this story somewhat predicable but still a well written one that will definitely keep your attention all the way to the end. It will be quite interesting to see if Bear and Aria will finally get their HEA? Again you will just have to pick up this read to see how it all will all come out.

Hot on Ice: A Hockey Romance Anthology

The New Orleans Cajun Rage professional hockey team just won the Cup. No one thought they'd do it: they were a team of shoulda beens, never coulda beens and a star or two. They'd only been in the Crescent City for three years before this year's Cinderella run that had them skating off the ice with the championship. Over the following summer, each player gets to keep the Cup for a day. Nobody knows why, but whoever has the Cup falls in love.

So I know this is a compilation book but I need to find out if any of these authors know about hockey? Call me a prude but I'm from North Carolina where the Hurricanes are and I'm a die-hard hockey fan and I'd like to say an aficionado. While I've been reading several of these, they've made me pause and go WTF? I mean, seriously...have you been to a hockey game? I know it's a novella and there's not a lot you can write in that short amount of space but then just call it something else....Like guys who whine too much. I know...harsh, I just can't get it in my head space to be accepting if you aren't going to do your homework.

I was given a copy of this ARC from the publisher on Netgalley for a honest review. All of the above comments are my express opinions and no one else's.

Sports romance has always been a favourite of mine and this is set to be an amazing anthology. BEAR NAKED is but one story of the New Orleans Cajun Rage professional hockey team and their fall to love after their unexpected rise to fame on the ice.

A fabulous boxed set for an amazingly low price!

One of my favorite parts of reviewing is discovering new to me authors and I was lucking enough to have this one sent to me from NetGalley

In Skates Trouble is one of those books that was a delightfully refreshing surprise. I have felt the need for something fun and sexy and this one fit the bill. Hot to the point of panty melting, sexy enough to get you a little warm under the collar, then there is the sweet, yet maddening story-line that makes you wonder what will happen next. Addison and Ford made me fly through the pages and fall in love with their story and the characters in the book. Addison's friend Harper is a riot and I'm excited to read more from this author.

Loved In Skates Trouble and can't wait for more.

My first book by Christ Barth, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. My favourite genre to read is Sports Romance, especially if it's based on Hockey.
The prologue of the book had me in tears, reminding me that awful things happen to the most innocent of people.
Lisette is hesitant to move forward with Kurt, thinking that just by her presence, Kurt will always be held back to the worst time of his life.
Kurt finds himselfi at a crossroads. Trying to decide whether to keep playing the sport he loves, or move on to the next stage of his life.
An extremely well written story and developed characters, that had me truly invested in the story from the very first page.

Good book and story, I really liked how it all played out in the end

The premise of this novella piqued my curiosity, so I read it. While the writing is great and there are no major editing issues, I found it to be confusing. The characters jumped from subject to subject with no indication they were changing subjects. I understand this is a novella in a anthology collection, so maybe the author felt pressured to shorten it a bit? Even at the ending when she they got back together Dahlia went from "you cant love me" and two sentences later her inner dialogue was "I will make it to new Orleans". It didnt add up because there was no declaration from her. I don't know. Maybe I missed something! Not for me though.

It was cute, and a really quick read. I really liked how fleshed out her character was, but I learned almost nothing about his character, except that his parents died on 9/11. I found myself flipping back and forth between pages, because I felt like I missed things, but no, I didn't. I also wonder what happened in between when they were young and now. Did he just leave town and he hasn't talked to her since? There is an interesting story here, it just didn't seem to have room to grow in this short form. I would read more by this author, though.
