A very unusual start to this trilogy, I was really mesmerized by the storytelling. A tale that could be likened to having a hero who might just be a modern day Robin Hood and the woman who is caught up in his seemingly unstoppable pursuit to right certain wrongs.
Zara Leighton is the art surveyor who meets the very handsome, very dashing Tobias Wilder and is immediately caught off guard. Meeting accidentally more than once, their whirlwind affair is as unpredictable as the art heists that have rattled parts of Europe. While she tries with her fellow employees to help Interpol solve these rash of thefts, she is falling harder by the day for the man who seems to be as mysterious as he is sexy.
What a great beginning. I will admit I was a bit puzzled as to the nature of this book at first but once I hit the 20 percent mark, it was hard to put down. Vanessa Fewings is new to me and I enjoyed her attention to detail, the way she introduced timeless art to the reader and her mature style of writing. I read an unedited version and I appreciate that there will be typos etc. so hopefully that is fixed with the published version since it was rife with errors.
I will definitely continue and can't wait to see the next installment, taking our adventure from London to Paris.
A solid 4 stars!

When I read the blurb for The Chase I knew I needed to read it. It seemed to offer everything I loved: action, adventure, passion and a mystery that needed solving. And honestly, after reading it, I can say that this novel was absolutely brilliant! It was full of passion and suspense and was just perfect. Tobias and Zara were electrifying. I actually got goosebumps reading because I did not know how the story was going to play out but I knew for sure I did not want it to end!
From the get go I fell in love with Zara and Tobias. As a result of a deep and abiding love of art from her famous art collector father, Zara Leighton immerses herself in the art world. Ranked as a rising star in one of London's top art investigation firms, she has a talent for seeing deep into paintings and has chosen to help track down Icon, an enigmatic international art thief whose heists are methodical, daring, baffling. Along the way she meets elusive and eccentric Billionaire Tobias Wilder, a fellow art connoisseur/collector. From their initial meeting you could feel the electricity pinging off the pages between them. Their chemistry was combustible and their passion unrivaled. I loved how Fewings made it clear their was a genuine love between them but an even bigger amount of secrets. Who is Tobias Wilder and why is Zara drawn to his dark, daring and dangerous side?
GAH this book was so amazing. Tobias and Zara were just so sexy and passionate and I could not get enough! But I felt the real standout in this novel was the art, itself. I honestly have not felt this way about a book where I was driven to look up every painting described since Dan Brown's Da Vinci Code. I became obsessed. I needed to see what Zara and Tobias saw as I felt so deeply connected to the lush details and descriptions of each painting. I felt like I was standing right alongside them in the myriad of galleries throughout the book. All in all this was an AMAZING read and I cannot wait to read book two. Bravo!

TO CATCH A THIEF
USA Today bestselling author Vanessa Fewings launches a new series with The Chase, first in The Icon Trilogy. Forensic art specialist Zara Leighton is a new hire at one of London’s most prestigious investigative art firms. To her surprise and delight, she’s assigned to a team working on tracking down the elusive and notorious art thief, Icon. The puzzling case is engrossing and the unique aspects of the case fascinate Zara. Surprisingly, her boss also calls her in to work with Tobias Wilder, an American billionaire, who needs her unique ability to visually identify counterfeit paintings.
Zara is immediately attracted to Tobias, and he to her. Together, they gain entry to an exclusive gathering at a palace to view a questionable painting. Her adventure with Tobias draws Zara into an ongoing connection that is quickly complicated by her own past and the artwork she grew up with. As her work with the team attempting to unravel the Icon mystery becomes entangled with her hours spent with Tobias, Zara is increasingly conflicted. Is it her imagination that the mysterious Icon and Tobias appear to have many of the same character traits? Is the man she’s falling in love with capable of art thefts which confound the best investigators? Where does Tobias go when he’s not with her? And if Tobias truly is Icon, how will she bear the fallout when he’s caught?
The details of the fascinating world of high profile art make an intriguing background for the mystery. The first half of the novel is more remiscent of Fifty Shades of Grey than traditional romance but the connection between hero and heroine soon turns tender. Read this one with a fan and a glass of ice water at hand!

Wow! What a fabulous introduction to the Icon Trilogy! A secretive American Billionaire and an English Rose obsessed with Art. A Fabulous combination!
Tobias is a Billionaire who is an expert in technology and has a penchant for collecting rare and well sought after paintings that any avid collector would covet. He is rather elusive when it comes to revealing his personal life. He is charismatic and sexy but single.
Zara has grown up in the world of Art as her father was an enthusiastic collector. Her first love is Art! She has the rare talent of being able to see right through any painting. She makes them come alive. She has issues with commitments. For good reasons too!
Zara has a phobia which lands her into an uncompromising and embarrassing position. Thank goodness, no one else is around! Oops! To her horror, she finds herself facing a gorgeous face with the most sculptured and scrumptious body. Tobias! Way to meet this work of art for the first time. She is speechless and stares until reality sets in. The thoughts going through her head are rather hot! He, on the other hand appears to be amused. Shame that his thoughts are not obvious, since this is told in her POV. She makes a sharp exit at the first opportunity, only to bump into him again.
As she works as a forensic expert for one of the exclusive investigative art company, when Tobias needs the authentication of a piece of art, he enrols her for assistance and demands total confidentiality. When they arrive at the venue, saying that she is shocked is an understatement! Never mind, she is here to do a job and that's exactly what she is going to do. Quite impressive, despite the circumstances! Zara fully intends to go on her merry way once the job is done but, Tobias has other ideas.
She is working with her team on an investigation of multiple thefts of valuable art works. The clues they find are intriguing and the harder and deeper they dig, the more baffle they become. At the same time she starts a hot and passionate affair with Tobias. The attraction between them is sizzling and she learns a thing or two! She is introduced to a life of fun and luxury. Too good to be true?
Zara is competent and dedicated to her job. Tobias is just irresistible. He likes to be in control. He is kind and compassionate but finds it hard to open up. He has secrets! This story is in itself a piece of art. It's intricately painted, highlighting all the minute details which makes it a compelling read. I was completely captivated from the word go. I absolutely love the plot. Tobias and Zara are exceptional lead characters. The suspense at the end is killing me and I am soooo looking forward to read what comes next. Fabulous!
I received a complimentary eARC via NetGalley and the views expressed are my personal opinion.

The dialogue and storyline both were extremely clumsy. I found myself skimming through the majority of the book, feeling both irritated and bored.

I first fell in love with Vanessa Fewings writing through the Enthrall Series. Her hero Cameron Cole is my absolute. But in The Chase, Tobias Wilder gives him a run for his money.
The Chase is a thrilling and captivating tale of romance, beautiful and priceless art and mystery. The intrigue felt from the very beginning sucks you in and keeps you reading to the end. And the connection between Zara and Tobias is spellbinding. The magic of the art world brings them together, and their mutual passion for the fine arts endears them to each other.
A past riddled with pain and loss touches both of their lives but also creates a walls. Whether it's the loss of loved ones or the loss of a sentimental piece, Tobias and Zara struggle with secrets. Secrets that could tear them apart or send them to prison.
I'm really all over the place with this review. The story had my head spinning and my heart pounding in suspense, wondering who Icon was and how Zara and her crew were going to catch this elusive art thief. But what really kept me wanting me more was how sexy and charming Tobias was, along with how he spoiled Zara, ensuring her he would cherish her. The way he helps her overcome her fear of elevators is absolutely breathtaking.
Aside from the stunning romance, following the trails of stolen priceless art is part of Zara's job at Huntly Pierre. She is living her dream, working to appraise and authenticate some of the most renowned pieces from all over the world. This is what sparks her involvement with Tobias.
The charismatic and rich atmosphere of art and technology that Vanessa creates provides a stunning visual that will move you. This novel was a breath of fresh air.
5 Iconic stars...Loved it!

Wowzer!!!! The Chase is the first book in The ICON Trilogy and let me say I already want, no scratch that, I need books 2 & 3 NOW!!! This fast paced novel packs suspense, mystery, romance and a whole lot of steam!!
Zara and Tobias are completely addictive!! I found Zara's profession as an art specialist for an art investigation firm very intriguing. Zara's firm takes on the task of trying to solve who is behind a recent rash of art heists across Europe. As if Zara's mind isn't whirling enough with the heist case, the alluring and handsome billionaire Tobias Wilder asks for Zara's professional opinion on a couple paintings authenticity...and that's not all!! Of course the book ending on a slight cliffhanger, which I expected being that there is two more book to follow, but I have to say Vanessa Fewings is off to a fantastic start with this 4.5 star read!!! The Game (book 2) releases the end of August and I. CANNOT. WAIT!!!! The Chase is a book I definitely recommend 1-clicking!!!
