I am a big fan of Shelly Laurenston but this book did not work for me. I think I got bogged down in the explanations of the world and the huge cast of characters.

Shelly Laurenston books are comedy romps and The Unyielding definitely is! I'm been waiting for Erin's book! She's so badass and I loved the pairing of her with Stieg!

Are you ready for more Crow craziness? Are you sure? Are you really, really sure?
Well, buckle up for some more fun with the ladies and men who are trying to keep the world safe from some really insane deities.
Erin is up to something... ok.. so she's always up to something but this time she's REALLY up to something. She's caught by someone that she honestly can't stand at a moment when she really did need help (soooooooooooooooo not liking admitting that) but who she gets is someone that she can't easily manipulate or ignore. I loved getting to know more about her and understanding where the personality traits that drive everyone else insane came from. She's not willing to admit what Stieg comes to mean to her but he knows and accepts her for who she is. I love her smart mouth but also found that behind this is someone who cares deeply for those around her and is willing to do what it takes to keep people safe. There are moments when you just want to strangle her but the moments are broken up by laughter as she even knows that she's doing it on purpose.
Stieg was so much fun to watch. He's driven but the way he tries to tell her not to do something in the beginning made me put down the book for a bit to laugh. He's not what he seems either which is why their pairing makes so much sense. His relationships with others including shifters made me smile but it was the damn goat that made me almost lose it. You'll love meeting her but also love the way that he struggles to come to terms with what Erin starts to mean to him. I will admit there is a part of me that wanted a more overt claiming but honestly these two are perfect for one another. The way that the relationship just is... not forced... just natural made me smile.
Now... when is the next one? I really wanna see how this new threat plays out cause... DAMN MAN.
Also, Shelly... if you ever decide to make more totes... yeah... I NEED ONE... also... Vida... thanks again!!! I won't see you this year at RT but thank you for letting me continue to share the love of these stories.

I love this series, there hasn't been a bad one yet. The dialogue in this book is so incredibly sarcastic and funny AKA so Erin. .
Erin and Stieg make a great couple since they can't decide if they hate each other or just can't stand to be away from each other for the majority of this book which leads to some really great dialog and some really weird situations. Throughout this story I was laughing out loud, this is a must read.

***Thank you***

I always loved her shifters, but Shelly Laurenston also delivers another great and hysterical addition to the Call of Crows series, this one starring the crazed Erin and her befuddled partner Stieg. So what if she drives him crazy and is the world's biggest pain in the ass? She does have an important mission-preventing world ending chaos like Ragnarok. Erin is my favorite character in this insane series and it had me laughing out loud while trying not to wake the family. Hail to the Queen of Snarky humor-Shelly Laurenston!

I would highly suggest reading this series in order but not necessary. When I first started reading this story I had to put it down, I just couldn’t get into the story. I gave it some time and the second time I picked it up I could not put it down. For some reason the story clicked and I was enjoying the story to its full craziness! You’ve got Gods and Goddesses’ both trouble in their own ways. Our heroine is Erin, she’s a Crow, as heroines go Erin is crazy… and I love her for it. In ways she reminds me of well me. Erin is a pot stirrer in epic proportions, the trouble she causes, the people and Gods she can piss off is just too funny. Stieg is a loner who hates everyone and a Viking, so when these two are together sparks fly. This book has humor, action, love, did I say humor? (the humor just won’t stop), plot twists of plenty! If your thing is PNR then this is a great story to read. Characters are well written and even though I had not read the first and second book in this series I still enjoyed the story. I give this book 4.5 star.
***I voluntarily reviewed this ARC for an honest review via NetGalley, this is my honest opinion and has not been influenced by the author, Publishers or NetGalley in anyway.***

Not having read the first two books in the series, I found myself at a disadvantage...while playing catch up on the backstory, I know I missed out on many of the nuances of the story. What I did find was that the characters are quite interesting, there is sharp humor and a dialog that travels very quickly page to page. Well worth the read.

Oh wow I thought I had reviewed this one. Irreverent laugh out loud fun. Erin the girl everyone loves to hate, but the love the hate. Trouble starter extraordinaire, heart of gold. If you haven't read any of Ms. Laurenston's books please go grab one they make your day lighter and your heart happy. Or well mine... they do that for me anyway.

So, Laurenston fans have another amazingly crazy group of people to fall in love with in this newest series by Shelly, revolving around the Norse Gods and the modern warriors that are serving them. While most stories of Vikings and Norse gods are set in the past, Shelly’s refreshing take on these warriors existing in secret in the modern world gives everything a bright shiny newness that makes the series even better. Those of us that have read any Laurenston novel understand the craziness of her characters and love them just the way they are… whacked out and homicidal though they might be. For readers of contemporary or even more mainstream paranormal works, Shelly’s writing style and characters might come as a bit of a shock, but the sass, sarcasm, and homicidal tendencies hide the true sweetness and strength of her heroes and heroines. Erin is about as crazy as they come, bringing to mind that nutso friend in high school that was always the one asking “I wonder what will happen if we do this…” right before they get the whole group into trouble. But let’s be honest without those fun troublemakers in our lives most of us would become staid and boring as hell. So I can say that I LOVED Erin and her story of heroism and falling in love with Stieg was wonderfully zany and lighthearted enough to make my evenings after a long day of work enjoyable. Stieg has his own speed and style for sure, but he handles Erin beautifully, when she’s not driving him to violence. While their love might not be as obvious or soft as a lot of people like, sometimes that bizarre passion and wild enjoyment of life is enough to bring two people together that we might not think belong. The story behind the romance led to some interesting battles and sneaking in lots more fun references to Norse mythology as the warriors of the Nine Clans worked together to defeat their enemy and prevent Ragnarök from being set in motion. I LOVE everything Shelly writes, but being pagan myself and having lots of firsthand knowledge of these myths makes the stories even more fun. I mean honestly who wouldn’t fall in love with a woman that could write about the Allfather in such an irreverent way?!? Cannot wait to see what comes next after that ending, too, because no way does she leave us hanging on that craziness. Keep the outrageous awesomeness coming, Shelly, and I will continue adding recruits to your fan clubs.

There is something addictive about Shelly Laurenston's novels even though her characters are completely over-the-top. If you are willing to suspend disbelief they are great fun.

Stieg Engstrom and Erin Amsel's story was awesome. There so much about this series that I love that I hope it's not over. Stieg and Erin's story was a bit different than the others.
I love how Stieg is tasked with following Erin to figure out what she's up to. Erin knows something is off and she doesn't need anyone's help to figure it out. She knows she can handle anything with her fighting as well as her smart mouth.
I understood that Erin didn't want to get too close to Stieg, knowing that she was going to have to make a quest that it was possible she wouldn't survive. But when Stieg ends up on the quest with her, they come to terms with what they are feeling for each other.
Love the goat who has taken to Stieg and is afraid of his best friend. I could visualize the the fights and the other world. So much fun to read. I wish I had it on audiobook, I would listen to this series, over and over again.
I wanted to kick the gods for playing with them the way they did. I hope this wasn't the end, though it seems like there will be more. I'm just not sure. I can't find anything on if Shelly is writing more about these characters
Loved every moment of it... I wish this was a tv series. I would watch every week.

First off, I love this author! and this one is right up there with all her fun and laughable language and action. This is the story of the crazy Crow Erin, and her loveable Raven Steig. She keeps getting into trouble, but since "they started it" she has to continue. Poor Steig, and his pet goat, are along for the ride, and it is a fun journey. When they travel down through the Nine Worlds to get to the dragon, in some ways it reminded me of Dante's Inferno (with a little twist of course). Anyway, I found the book fun, entertaining, and hard to put down. This one is part of a series, but I doubt you would be lost if you read this one first. Highly recommend, and if you can get past the Norse gods' names you will be fine. Great book and author, and look forward to the next in the series.

Shelly Laurenston does it again with a fast, fun read. Adding in a bit of a cross over for long time fans. The Crows are as crazy as ever, this story does not disappoint.

Shelly Laurenston always deliver wit, humor, a well constructed world and a diverse cast of women. She is an automatic buy and Call of Crows newest title "The Unyielding" does not disappoint. The use of Norse mythology, a developed heroine and a patient hero that is willing to accept her in all badassary makes this a great read.

The Undoing is the second book in the Call of Crows series. While it can be read as a stand alone novel there are re-occurring characters and a continuing story arc through the series that make them best read in order.
We first meet Jace and Ski in the previous book in the series, The Unleashing, but we don't really learn a lot about them other than Jace has rage issues and Ski a Protector. There is a lot of build up in the beginning of this book where we don't really focus on Jace or Ski but more the set up for the plot and a little bit of world building if you didn't read the first book. But once we start to really get into the story we spend more time with Jace and start to understand how she works. Ski wasn't as complicated a character but he was still fun to get to know. As well as getting to know his Protectors as they aren't mentioned much in the previous book.
I must say I am loving the world building and seeing how all the different gods and goddess in Norse mythology come into play. There is a great mix of action, humor, mythology, hijinks and general fun to this book and, in my experience, all of Laurenton's books. I really liked all the characters. Each is unique and entertaining. I enjoy how they characters interact with each other and the comradery that I feel reading the story makes me feel like I could be one of them. There is a great story arc that is building through these books. While each is s self contained story, the ending is always leaving an opening for the next book which is exciting. I m really looking forward to reading more in this series as they come out.

This author! Wow! She is on my One-Click list. I enjoy the humor she evokes with every chapter. The absolute danger, romance, twists and sexy times! I love me some Crows!

I love Shelly Laurenston's Call of Crows series. Since the first book, I've been waiting for Erin's story. This did not disappoint. I'd love to see an illustrated version. My only complaint is that I wished we had images of the fierce Crow warrior women on the covers. The male cover models are all attracted but the Crow's and their female warriors are why I read this series. I'd love to see those warriors reflected on the cover art.

I would never have put these two together. I'm amazed they didn't kill each other and I think the rest of the crew on both sides were also. I knew Erin would be successful because that girl has no quit in her. But dayumn she had to go through a lot to save the world. And Stieg was great even when I kept thinking she's going to go to far and he or someone else is going to kill her. I like Erin though she is unapologetically a bad-ass and she likes it that way lol.
I was tickled to see the whole gang there and cannot wait to see where Ms Laurenston goes with this world. Her books always make me laugh and are just a good fun read. I give this one 5 stars and was given this book via Netgalley in consideration of review.

I enjoy the story very much and cant wait for the next book in the series.
