"Scream and I'll snap your neck," Steig warned. "Understand?"
The preacher gave one nod and Steig released him.
Steig had honestly thought he'd spend the short amount of time they'd have with this man trying to drag information out of him. That was usually how such things worked.
But as soon as the preacher saw Erin, his eyes lit up. "It's you!" he exclaimed, sounding ridiculously happy. "God has sent you straight to us!"
Erin playfully clapped her hands together and replied with great sarcasm, "Praise the Lord and pass that dag-gum ammunition!"
Steig kind of enjoyed how she had no patience. It was almost like she had no fear. Or, at the very least, she was determined to find the humor in any given situation.

This is typical Erin. Such a dick. And I love it. I love her. I was seriously worried to read this book. A lot of times when there's a series some authors "switch" to a new main couple every book but they end up writing about the same couple just with different names - does that make sense?? Like the previously supporting characters magically have the some attitude and witty sarcasm and responses that they didn't show in the first book. It's like all the female leads morph into the same being and the males are all the same version of alpha male.

THANKFULLYYYYY that isn't a problem with this series. Erin is still Erin. We get to see more into her insanity but she stays true to her previous character. I really enjoyed this book. The romance was lacking in steam but it worked for this couple.

Made me chuckle:
"Your work is amazing," Karen babbled on to Erin.
"Thank you."
"So... discounts for friends?"
"Subtle, Karen," Steig muttered.
"What? she can say no. She's not required to help me even though I'm taking the time out of my evening to help her painful-looking wounds. And knowing I'm doing it with loving care... she could still say no. If she wants."

I love Karen. She was hilarious. And a bad ass. I love that Laurenston had a male/female bestie situation without it getting weird

I love this book! The Unyielding is a fabulous addition to the Call of Crows series. The world is amazing, the story is well written and the characters are amazing what more could I ask for. I would definitely recommend this book!

I have been reading Shelly Laurenston for many years and whilst I prefer her changer novels I do enjoy the crows books as well. This one was very engaging and I really liked Erin and Steig. The final battle with the nine clans no the dragon was very good. Look forward to her next one.

In this the third book, Ragnarok is almost upon us.

Erin Amsel is a member of the mighty Crows, the human warrior clan of the goddess Skuld. She is the Crow that drives everyone crazy: fellow Crows; other Clans; the Gods; everyone. She is stalking Jourdan Ambrosio, a vapid do-nothing megastar (who she believes may be the priestess of the goddess Gullveig), in an LA club when she is kidnapped by her ex and shot in the head, again. Her favourite phrase is "He/she started it!". Little does she know that her special gift from Skuld means that she, and she alone, can get the only weapon that can finally defeat and kill Gullveig.

For reasons unknown, Stieg Engstrom, Angriest Viking Ever, has been tasked by his Raven brother Vig Rundstom with keeping Erin out of trouble. Whilst believing the job is a joke (and probably impossible), he is incensed when a group of men take Erin into the desert and shoot her in the head.

Stieg is all logic and Erin is all emotion and ADHD - what better duo to go on a quest to get a magical sword guarded by a dragon deep in the Nine Worlds where humans are no longer welcome?

This is a magnificent conclusion to the Ragnorak trilogy (I'm desperately hoping that it isn't the end of the Call of Crows series). It has everything we have come to expect from the series, snarky repartee, gods and goddesses being irritating, the clans, the Carrion, Los Angeles, a cast of thousands, the battle at the end of the world and oodles of funny.

Shelly Laurenston has been an autobuy for me for years. I love her ballsy female characters, the laud out loud dialogue and the plots, plots, plots that underpin it all. In this book she really finds her feet with a surety of humour and plot that keep the reader hanging on to the edge of her Kindle.

Word of warning - don't try to read this as a stand-alone, this draws on all the mythology and storylines from the previous books and confused this absentminded reader at times.

Prepare for the full on fan gushing to start.....You GUYS.....this was amazing!!

Let me say that I went back and reread the previous books just to get in the zone for this one and I'm so glad I did as I was completely absorbed in this world. This book picks up right after Jace and Ski's and man is it jam packed with action and plot development. Now I don't know anyone who hasn't wanted to strangle Erin at some point and you'll want to in this book....and you'll want to hug her. The woman is such a riot, she absolutely cracks me up, and I personally enjoyed her and Stieg's unconventional relationship. For lovers of this series and these characters you will not be disappointed, we see plenty of our favorites and in true Viking style we have major battles, hilarious conversations, some hot hot moments between our leads and sadly(or not depending on your outlook, personally I was both excited for more and sad to be left wanting more) we get a segue into hopefully the next book! Now I know I didn't give you the plot...trust me folks read it yourself. You'll be highly entertained and enjoy yourself immensely I just know it! Do go back and read the first ones if you have not read them though, it's a great world the author has built here.

I absolutely loved this book. I don't say this often because frankly it usually doesn't end up going well but god I wish they would make this series into a TV show. The world Shelly Laurenston has created it just so detailed and her writing is amazing, especially the battle scenes. You get such a clear picture about what is happening and it is truly a pleasure to read anything she writes. You'll get nonstop action with hilarious unique characters and to top it all off some steamy love action.

I LOVED Erin she is literally the best. Such a huge freaking dick and so unapologetic about it. Something that I truthfully love in a character. She was also just straight up funny and really really brave. I have to say though the surprise for me was Stieg, there was a lot more to him then I first assumed. Yes he is very much an angry, grouchy Raven but he was also really sweet and devoted. He accepted Erin for who she was without trying to change her. He had her back from the start and I was impressed with how even though he would at times protect Erin (even from herself) he always trusted her and never got in the way of her mission. He is basically an alpha male who knows how to take care of his alpha female without crushing her spirit and I loved that.

Now anyone thinking about reading this book I'll give you the lowdown here. This is not a standalone series, please read them in order otherwise you'll miss stuff even though each book is about different MC's. Also these books are very story heavy, meaning yes they are romances but that is woven into the main story and not so much the focus of the book. Like this one had I think four steamy scenes and they aren't horribly long (to be fair they are trying to stop the end of the world so they don't have a lot of time to be fooling around lol) But I don't feel like the romantic story suffers simply because of how good a writer Shelly Laurenston is, she connects you to these characters from page one and doesn't let you go. And lastly, these books are heavy, and I mean HEAVY on POV changes. In the first book I found it a bit jarring and wasn't sure about it, but now I'm used to it. I think for the action packed story it works best because there is so much going on. And I pretty much love all of the characters in this series so I don't mind hanging out with them for a few pages or a chapter, but I know some people don't like changing POV's so just giving you a heads up this one probably won't be for you.

I do highly recommend this one to everyone really. The writing is great, the storyline is super interesting and you'll be laughing out loud from start to finish.

Now bring on LOKI!!!!

I loved this book. I thought it had the strongest world-building of the three books in the trilogy. I liked all the little callbacks that connected the books. I liked that the central characters were unapologetic in their flaws. It was really refreshing to read about characters who aren't magically perfect beings. I'm unclear how Erin's business stays afloat when she never seems to work there for money. I would love to see a book starring Bear, he's one of my favourite supporting characters.

* Above I was asked if I would recommend this to my students. Unfortunately, that would be a wildly inappropriate recommendation. I would however strongly recommend it to friends.

Classic Laurenston! I could not love this book more. I wasn't too sure about Erin going in, but she's a shit-starter, and I think those are Laurenston's best characters. Can't get enough of this series!
