What an absolute fun read! Katherine and her sister are on the run when Kirk and company catch them trying to steal their horses. Unknown to her, he is the brother of her betrothed, a man she doesn't plan to marry as secrets are kept. As they are being escorted to the keep of her betrothed, she plans her escape, but with sparks flying between Katherine and Kirk, those plans go awry. With a Scottish Highland adventure, the sexy scenes and love story, it makes this novella a great afternoon read to see Katherine and Kirk get their HEA. This is a great story and a quick read. Kate hated the man she was to wed, under orders of the Duke, and she has never met him but he is a Beast, that is what she has been told. She also thinks all men are cruel and disrespect women, because that is how she is treated by her brother and the clan. So when she meet Kirk, the brother of "the Beast", there is no way he can be so nice - the real person will come to the forefront. Or is what she knows not true.

Kirk Rannoch has been ordered by the Duke to bring back the daughter of his family’s enemy, Lady Katherine Killin, to marry his brother. When he gets there, he finds that she has ran off to avoid being taken. While on their way back, he and his friend stop two women from stealing from them. Looks like he might have found who he was looking for.
I really liked this book. I read through it pretty quickly. I loved the main characters as well as the side characters. I can’t wait to read more from this series.

Okay, so at the start of my book reviewing, I didn't like to read "adult" books. But I told myself to at least try. And I decided to skip over the adult parts and review the parts are I did read. And I'm glad I did!! I fell in love with the story and world! At first I hated Katherine with a burning passion. I mean a lot! But Kirk...boy oh boy...what a hunk. I think I drooled a little (a lot) every time he popped up. I breeze through this book, which is a good thing because I couldn't put it down.

Great quick read by Sabrina York. In it we meet Kirk Rannoch and Katherine Killin. Kirk has been charged with picking up Kate from her father and delivering her to his brother for marriage. He is not happy to be in the company of his enemies, but his overlord has requested this be done. To his surprise once he gets there he is informed that she has run away in order to avoid the marriage. Leaving the keep empty handed he begins his return journey home. But when they stop and make camp they are surprised to find 2 females trying to steal their horses. When he finds out that it is the woman he was sent to retrieve along with her maid he cannot believe his luck. Never mind he cannot stop thinking of the maid Ann.

Kate is used to being forced to do stuff against her will. She is also used to the consequences of not following orders from men. She knows that the only way she can get out of the marriage and save herself. So here and her sister Elise come up with the ruse to have Elise be Kate and her be the maid. Now she needs to make sure to she seduces Kirk in order to ensure she will be compromised and saved from marriage.

As Kirk and Kate get closer, neither realize that soon they will both be head over heels for each other. But can Kirk forgive her deception, and can Kate ever trust a man when all she is ever known for men is humiliation and pain?

For a shorter story it was completely wonderful and I really enjoyed that I was able to simply read it during my breaks at work! Although short it still held an interesting adventure and really made me want for more. I found the characters to be full of life and was really impressed by all the author put into it. I will definitely add this to the list of must read for my friends

I am a fan of this author and she did not disappoint in this BookShots short novel. Like the preface promises, it was fast paced and engrossing. I finished in almost one sitting. Historical romances are a personal favorite of mine. This story takes place during the Stuart period in Scottish history. The main characters are Kirk Rannoch and Katherine Killin. There has been an arranged marriage between two warring clans. The idea was initiated by an English Duke and Kirk was chosen to go and acquire the promised bride by any means necessary. But the time he arrives at Killin Keep, he finds that the bride has run away. This bride was promised to Kirk's brother, Ben. Kirk and his friend, Brodie, leave the castle empty handed and start to make their way back home. They stumble across 2 women in the woods, who were trying to steal their horses. Turns out one of them is Katherine, but they have concocted a lie they are sticking too and the men don't know they have been deceived by a case of mistaken identity. They do their best to protect the women and Kirk is particularly taken by Ann (who is really Katherine). Things happen, they arrive at Rannoch castle, but the plan goes awry.

The chemistry between Kirk and Ann/Katherine is evident right away. There is a part of the story that is a bit darker because Katherine has been a victim of physical abuse at the hands of her brothers, but Kirk is the man to show her what a gentleman is. The first sex scene is totally hot (although I would not love the location and the rain). Kirk takes charge in protecting his woman, who he has decided he wants to claim (swoon). I love the twists of the story and the characters are a lot of fun to discover. I'm a sucker for an HEA and this book delivers. It's a good choice for when you don't have a lot of time to commit to a longer book or make it a beach read.

Bedding the Highlander was a fun, little highlander read, perfect for when you have a couple hours to kill and you want something easy and enjoyable.

I haven't read a ton of highlander romances, but I've recently read and loved Never Seduce a Scot so I figured I'd try this one.

Actually, the two books start very similarly. Maybe all highlander books start with a marriage between warring clans, for all I know? However, the two books quickly diverged, and I grew immersed in this one.

It's honestly pretty standard stuff here. Tropey alpha male Scotsman, spunky Scottish virgin, lots of heat and passion and fighting. It was all fun, just so fun.

I had some issues with the CONSTANT miscommunications, but, in the end, I just accepted this book for what it was and enjoyed the ride. I don't think you can go wrong with this one.

This is well written, captivating, romantic and amusing. Kirk is charming and sweet and funny. Kate is determined, spunky, amusing and bold. The storyline keeps you turning the pages, it's full of action and entertainment. And hot highlanders. A must add for your TBR list.

BEDDING THE HIGHLANDER is part of James Pattersons Bookshots Flames. They are original romances that are hand picked Patterson himself, which I thought was pretty cool. Not quite a novel, but bigger than a novella. I started it at night and had to finish the next day or I could've read it in one "shot".
This story puts a new spin on the arranged marriage story line. It was a great story all in all. It has very likable main characters and even secondary characters, except for the dad and brother of course. There are a few steamy scenes but they are done tastefully. I highly recommend this book to all Scottish romance readers.

A good book for a short read. The characters are fun and the plot line is interesting with the twists. It is well written and holds the readers attention. The author is talented and creative in her way of having her characters being suspenseful as well as cunning in their wit. A snarky heroine whom could be indeed considered a spitfire with passion and sensuality as a wonderful bonus inside this story. I really enjoyed the read and will look for more of this type. Definitely a little buy book for a quick read. I was given this book in return for an honest review. Anna

Very enjoyable read by Sabrina York! I loved the chemistry between Kate and Kirk that just drew you into their story and kept you there until the very end!

This is a type of novella, published by James Patterson , apparently a new venture for him, with quick reads for ebook readers. Written by Sabrina Jeffries, a well known romance writer, it is a quick read , with exciting elements loved by all Highlander fans: sexy Highlander, irritable, though beautiful, warrior Highlander maidens, and instant, passionate chemistry between the H and h. Our H has been sent to retrieve his brother/Laird's bride from a neighboring castle, a rival clan. She has run away. During their journey home they are set upon by thieves, which turn out to be two women, one of them the escaped bride, but which one? Passion ensues and it is a delightful little story. A quick read with a happy ending. It's a perfect little read for the beach or a rainy day.

The unwilling couple

There's nothing ladylike about Katherine Killin. She's a spitfire who cannot be tamed. To rid himself of her, and to honor a truce set by the Duke of Glencoe, her father agrees to wed her to his clan's mortal enemy, Ben Rannoch. But when Katherine meets the enticingly masculine Kurt Rannoch, brother of her betrothed, she suddenly craves domination.

Katherine Ann Killin did not have it easy with the men of the house and now she is ordered to marry a sworn enemy, the leader of the clan Rannoch, a man that she despises nearly as much as her own kin.

Kirk had been sent to pick up his brothers betrothed, he did not expect the Killin clan to be friendly, but he feels betrayed when he is not able to collect the bride to be. After meeting an exquisite female angel on the street, he tries to help and is completely smitten with her, not so much with her company. A shame that both women are hiding something.

Katherine is determined to escape their rescuers and also the unwanted marriage.

Can both find something they never looked after?

I read the book in no time, because it kept me on edge. The story is developing over time and just leaves you cringing and with laughter.

You feel sorry at one time for the women and the next for the men. While they get closer you are aware that in the end they can’t be together. At the same time you want Katherine to be safe and far away from her home.

Can the Ranochs and Killins fnd peace through a forced marriage? Can the couple find happiness or is it all doomed from the beginning? Will Katherine learn how men should really treat women and finally find a new home for herself?

Sorry to say that the clan Killin is an example of how you want your book heroes not to be, but they are unfortunately a picture of that time.

Passion and emotion are flaring hot in that book and it never left me wanting, besides, hopefully, the next book.

I can recommend the book for everyone who likes a wonderful highland romance.

Mìorbhaileach! When I want to read a historical Sabrina York is my go to author. Her writing style just lifts you out of the current era and immerses the reader in another time that he/she wants to be a part of and this short read is no different. Here we are introduced to Katherine Killin who is a strong minded, independent woman (for her time.) She is being forced to marry Ben Rannoch, the laird of a rival clan at the bequest of the Duke of Glencoe to end the families’ feud. Kirk Rannoch, the laird’s brother, is tasked with the job of fetching the fair lass from her family along with his cousin. Katherine’s father is a no good liar and a man of ill repute. When Kirk arrives to speak with the laird of clan Killin, he is told that Katherine has run away. As Kirk and his cousin begin their journey home, they are confronted by two women attempting to steal their horses. Kirk is immediately enchanted by Katherine. Not wanting to alert him to the fact that she is actually the intended bride, Katherine lies. She says her name is Ann and that she is Katherine’s maid. When they all arrive at the Rannoch keep, the jig is up as Katherine runs into her grandfather who was waiting for her and the soon to follow nuptials. What will happen when they all discover the secret that Katherine has been hiding? Will Katherine and Kirk learn to trust each other?
This is a well written romance full of steamy scenes and intrigue with an alpha hero. I am looking forward to reading more of these stories as there are many supporting characters that deserve their own tales being told.

This is the first time I have tried any of the BookShots novellas, and I can definitely see their value when you want something super quick that you can finish over a lunch break or waiting on an oil change, etc. Bookshots are essentially novellas of every sort (around 150 pages), and the Flames imprint focuses on romance stories, both contemporary and historical. I like this idea, and I think I will check out more of them in the future, although I wish that they were available on Kindle Unlimited.

I love Sabrina York's Untamed Highlanders series, so I thought her novella would be a good place to start. This story falls in the arranged marriage trope, with some deception and mistaken identity thrown in.

It's 17th Century Scotland, and the Duke of Glencoe has ordered the marriage between members of feuding clans in the Highlands. So Kirk Rannoch has ridden into his enemy's keep to fetch his brother's intended bride... only to find that she has absconded. Leaving empty-handed, he knew that we they encountered two lasses within a day of the Killin keep, that one was likely the runaway bride. But which one? Katherine Killin is determined not to be ruled by any man, particularly her intended husband, the Beast of Rannoch. But when she runs into the beast on her attempted escape from Killin, her hopes are dashed and the subterfuge begins.

Katherine and Kirk battle for most of their journey, but Kirk loves her fire and Katherine is undeniably drawn to the handsome Highlander. Unfortunately, I didn't quite get on with our heroine. She got on my nerves for some reason... and I think much of it had to do with her deception. I'm not a big fan of deception in my romances. I tried to understand where she was coming from with her chauvinistic and abusive family, but I hated that she didn't trust Kirk and the Rannoch men more when they obviously were nothing like the Killin clan. Otherwise, the banter was fun and I really liked the hero.

I recommend this book for those fans of historical and Highland romance who are looking for a quickie read to kill some time. I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book that I received from the publisher.

Very good short but complete story.I didn't feel like I was shorted on a Highland story which happens to be one of my favorite genres.The charactors were well developed and kept my interest til the end.I enjoyed the steamy scenes,twists in identities and some of the comical conversations made me smile.On a whole it was a good book.

There’s a long standing feud between the KIllans and the Rannochs so the Duke of Glencoe has decreed the Ben, Laird of Rannoch will marry Kate one of Laird KIllans daughters. Ben dispatches his brother Kirk to fetch Kate from the Rannochs, but when he arrives the girl has disappeared and they leave empty handed. Kirk is frustrated he leaves empty-handed, but he’s also more than relieved for his brother. Determined Kate and her sister Elise have run from their family. They have where always felt less than wanted, and a married to the hated Rannochs is definitely unwanted. They try to steel a pair of horses from Kirk and his friend Brodie and they are caught, but they lie about who they really are. The story is captivating Kirk now sees Ann aka Kate who’s pretending to be a maid who has a tongue and temper matched only by her flaming red hair, but the two are attracted to each other and are leery of each other too. Kate and Elise grew up with mean and cruel men, that’s the way all men are or so they think. For the first time in Kate in her life, feels safe and regarded with respect from a man. She comes to realize there is so very much to love about her Kirk, her Highlander.

Just as the book synopsis promises, at only 160 pages, here’s a novella you can devour in a few hours, folks. Other than that, all you need to know from this NetGalley reviewer is I enjoyed it verra, verra much. Sabrina York, as usual, did not disappoint. She managed to incorporate several of my absolute favorite Scottish historical romance elements in this quick, captivating, romantic read. Most importantly, the writing flowed and stayed focused on the main couple’s tumultuous journey to a HEA. Here’s to hoping Kirk’s brother, Ben, one day gets a book of his own, as well. I do so love it when a laid finds then claims his own lady love.
