Happy Birthday, Little Hoo! is a fun addition to the Little Hoo books. It combines the anticipation of a birthday with counting down. Fun for young readers!

Cute little book ideal for those children who literally can't wait for their birthday. Only short but it needs to be for this age group, I really liked it.

I enjoyed this book! It was a very cute book for children. Especially if they like owls, or call owls hoo hoos. Little Hoo is very impatient about his upcoming birthday and keeps asking if this new day is his birthday. He sounds the same as any young child would when they want to do something and ask repeatedly if now they can do something or go somewhere and their parent says not right now.

Fun to read with kids. Good story and illistrations. Recommend reading.

I read a few Little Hoo books to my little girl when she was younger and we both enjoyed them a lot. She's too old for them now but I wanted to take a look at this one anyway just in case any of my friends with younger children asks about it. I actually think it's my favorite so far. It's cute and fun, really feeling the spirit of birthday anticipation. I much recommend it for the board book age group!

A charming and happy little book that is easy to read to young readers and get them to engage and read along, or at least to follow the pictures. It is a short story about anticipation for a birthday with a countdown of teachable moments about the activities and preparations that take place for a party such as mail, shopping, house cleaning, baking, etc. All children who get excited about their birthdays will relate to the cute little owl getting excited about his big day. Bonus activities for kids at the end of the book to participate in making their own little Hoo birthday party cutout.

I received this ARC from Netgalley for an honest review.
Little Hoo is back and this time it's almost his birthday. It's just ten days away and Little Hoo is patiently waiting. Each day he wakes up and asks if it's his birthday and each day his mom tells him, not yet but soon. Good book for counting down to a special day. Nice extra craft idea in the back.

Super cute counting book with great illustrations! This would be a great help to little ones learning to count.

This book was very cute and talked all about how to wait patiently and count down the days until something exciting: something I believe most kids can relate to! While not much happens, the art and Little Hoo's excitement is palpable and it leaves a bit of room for discussion about times when you or your young readers had a hard time waiting for something fun!

Waiting is sometimes very hard, especially when you're waiting for your birthday! Join Little Hoo as he counts down from 10 as he waits for his birthday party. With cute characters and a concept both parents and children are sure to relate to, this book will no doubt be a hit! Pick one up today and don't forget to look for the special surprise at the end!

this book is really good to help teach kids about counting and what all goes into preparing for a party! However It just felt a little too repetitive for me that is why I gave it 3 stars because the message is good but I felt like it could have been shorter and still got the point across. Also I liked how there are interactive features as well and a party game at the back.

A typical counting backwards book. Little Hoo wants to know if it is his birthday yet. And every day, not yet. What makes this book stand out from others is there is a search and find aspect, and even a party game in the back. However libraries always hate it when there are instructions in a book to “cut along the dotted lines”

This adorable book tells about the impatience and anticipation of Little Hoo, a young owl, who has ten days to wait until his birthday. The countdown to the event starts at day 10 and counts down. Each day Little Hoo asks if it is his birthday yet and his mother replies tht is is a day to do a specific taks. Each task helps prepare for his birthday including such things as Market day, Cleaning day, Laundry Day etc. Finally, the day of Little Hoo's birthday finally arrives and they all celebrate.
This is a fun story for little ones with a happy ending. They get to count backwards while reading the story as well as learning about being patient. They also learn about getting prepared for something requires certain tasks that must be completed. The illustrations are cute and go very well with the story. Little Hoo is cute and I think kids will identify with him. A great addition to a family library or a kindergarten/pre-school classroom. the publisher generously provided me with a copy of this book via Netgalley.

This charming book chronicles ten days in the life of a baby owl who is waiting impatiently for his birthday party to begin. It's countdown time.......
He has to wait ten long days for his special event to take place which seems like a lifetime when you are little. In this waiting period he learns that parties just don't happen spontaneously... you have to plan and prepare carefully for them.
Each day of the week brings something new that has to be organized. Monday he gets the scoop on the time frame for his birthday bash, Tuesday it's Market Day, Wednesday is a visit to the piñata store, Thursday is Mail Day - he has to get those invites out to friends, Friday is Laundry Day, Saturday is Help-Your-Dad-in-the-Yard Day, Sunday it's off to the Candy Store to pack loot bags, Monday is Library Day, Wednesday is Decorate-the-House and Ice-the-Cake Day and guess what Thursday is? Can you guess?
This is a fun and exciting tale for little ones with a very, very happy ending. The illustrations are super sweet and drive the narrative perfectly. Let the celebration begin! It's time little owl. We all give a hoot! Let's party!
I highly recommend this book.

I can remember when I was little, hours used to feel like days, and weeks felt like years. This book perfectly illustrates Little Hoo's excitement waiting for his birthday that takes a very long time to come. Before his birthday arrives Little Hoo is involved in lots of activities. It must feel like a very long ten days indeed!
Each page of this book features a countdown number to Hoo's birthday, which is an excellent learning tool for children learning their numbers. An added fun feature for older children, perhaps toddlers, is a page that shows some items to find in the pictures.
I found the story pleasant and the activities before Hoo's birthday are original and interesting. It is nicely illustrated, however I find the computer graphics a little basic and almost 'clip art' style. I can see however that young children would find these images pleasing.
This book doesn't excite me very much, but it has a certain charm. It is also a good educational tool.

What a fantastic book !
The book automatically had me at the title, as soon as I saw that it was called 'Happy Birthday, Little Hoo!' I thought it sounded like a fun read. The book was full of little treasures that added to the usability of it, and opened up many doors for some creative storytelling.
The book is not only a story but is also a counting book, has seek and find elements and a craft activity to round it off at the end. So much in one book may seem overboard, but actually I found it to be just right and a great literacy tool.
Little Hoo not only engages the child in reading but also encourages communication, cognitive skills and fine motor development.
The story line is very typical of a young child counting down to their birthday, which is why I think children will relate to the book. The numbers for counting are large in size which makes them easy to read and being a standout on the page will assist the child reader with number recognition. The everyday activities that little hoo experiences in the book such as shopping, library day, and baking a cake are recognisable to a child's everyday world and will give them a sense of familiarity.
I absolutely recommend this book for both toddlers preschoolers because of its versatility and a lovely story line.

I loved this book and will definitely be getting a hard copy for when my little girl arrives later on this year! The images are bright and clear, its fun and really enjoyable overall. 5 stars from me.

Great book for teaching children patience, sometimes we have to wait and that good things can come out of having waited. I really enjoyed that everything they gathered was leading up to Little Hoo's Big day!! (Birthday). Definitely recommended children's book!!
