I read this book to three of my seven kids and they really enjoyed it! I feel like there is not much more I can say about this as it’s a kid book. My seven year old loves reading it to himself and the story is precious.

A lovely book with some beautifully drawn illustrations and the text was a joy to read. The Nordic setting added to the atmosphere of the book.

Lovely song, lovely illustrations. It would make a wonderful gift to a new parent (along with note to find Alison Krauss and Yo Yo Ma playing the song on YouTube). Beautiful little book.

This is fresh and new, individual drawings set for the older written lullaby. The drawings are bright and lovely. Some I see as a beautiful postcards this is how much I enjoyed them. As the lullaby is not written nowadays, some of it's words are not smooth, but I think when you sing the poem it matters the drawings and the voice that draws the little reader to the book.

I am one of the person's who looks for books that has been illustrated by individuals and have a uniqueness in their art, their own style within the context.

Nothing is more soothing and calming to a young child at bedtime when they know, without a shadow of a doubt, that their mother will be guarding over them and protecting them all through the night while they drift off into Slumberland.

"Slumber my darling
They mother is near
Guarding thy dreams
From all terror and fear."

The reassurance and love that is embedded in that word promise and transferred into the heart of her child is a bond that can never be broken between the two.

She gives her word to her beloved child that he will be protected as she is watching out for him during the long, dark night. She tenderly tells him that the birds are at rest and the dew is silently falling... all the world is at peace. She gently wraps him in her words of love and prays that angels will shield him from any harm.

This beautiful classic lullaby, set in a nordic setting, is a perfect bedtime story and although it contains words from years-gone-by it will still work perfectly with today's modern child.

I love the Nordic setting of this book. This sweet little tale, presented as a lullaby for bedtime, is about a mother watching over her child as she sleeps, protecting her while she is in the land of nod.

The illustrations is this picture book are just beautiful (especially the dragon!) and the words are so melodic they almost read like a song. Any story about a mother's love for her children tugs at my heartstrings, but I especially love how this book captures a mother's power to chase her children's fear away. With old-fashioned verse and words that sound like music, this is a lovely read to add to your child's bedtime routine.

Thank you Netgalley and the author for the opportunity to read this book.

A text of a poem in the public domain from 1862 is accompanied by colorful illustrations with a vintage feel. A few verses are repeated. A picture book for bedtime. A few words will need explanation. Nevertheless, the sentiment is sweet.

This book is near perfect. The illustrations are spot on, and it reads more like a lyrical poem than a typical picture book. I almost want it to be a song, but it is okay that it’s not. It’s a bedtime book, without ever mentioning bedtime. LOVE IT! By the way, my favorite illustration is by far the dragon.

Apparently this is a classic lullaby matched with new illustrations, and it certainly reads that way - the verses are old-fashioned and seem of another time (this isn't a bad thing, necessarily). The illustrations are interesting, and bring the verses to vivid life. It has a nice rhythm and is a cool wee book.

This lullaby written as a bedtime story with beautiful, imaginative illustrations is a good bedtime read to older toddlers and pre-school children. The reason I say that is because some of the imagery would be difficult to understand for younger children. This book tells about a mother's love protecting her young and keeping her children's fears at bay. This would make a great addition to any family library. The publisher provided me with a copy of this book via Netgalley.

I liked both the words and the illustrations. However, the two didn’t really seem to go together very well.

This title was okay. The illustrations were nice. I think the image if the scary dragon having arrows shot at it is a little too much for the age group intended; especially seeing it is a bedtime story.

For me this is set in the style of a very traditional story book for children and I will admit that I loved that touch. For me I had hoped that it may be a bit more child friendly as I can't see my little one understanding some of the words until she's a bit older. It's got some beautiful illustrations and I think its definitely one to treasure in a few years.
