Sadly I struggled to get into this book. Therefore found myself bored and not paying attention. This is not the authors fault but the book just didn’t hit it for me.

I had a very hard time getting into this book and picked it up and put it down several times. After finally reading the whole story I felt that while there were some good parts to this story, I mostly thought it was very long winded with far too many characters and I found myself skimming through a lot of it.

This was an explosive thriller which was hard to put down. The writing style was good as was the plot. There was heart thumping suspense as well.
Many thanks to Claren Books and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.

Fatal gift by Michael Frase.
A good read. Good story. Some good characters. Little slow but good. 4*.

This was a great book. The main character was interesting to read about and the intermingling plot points and characters were pieced together very well. A good mystery novel!

Kasey Riteman is a waitress trying to make ends meet, drinking too much, and trying to get ahead without much luck. She is out in the middle of nowhere when her car gets a flat and decides to walk for help. She hears a woman’s voice, but arrives just before the woman is murdered. She sees the vanity license plate on the killer’s car and plans to get justice for the slain woman by going to the police. From the very beginning, the writing did not flow and the story did not hold my attention. The whole part of being clairvoyant so as not to have to admit that she witnessed the murder was just too over the top. I made my way through the rest of the book, but it didn’t get any better and I really did not like the ending. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (by paytonpuppy)

Kasey Riteman's life will never be the same after she is witness to a murder. She wants to do the 'right thing' and tell the police what she saw but is terrified that the killer will come after her. She thinks she's found a solution. The book is all about the solution, and what it does to Kasey's life.

I liked the story and most of the characters, but I think several of the characters could have been easily omitted without losing any of the story.

This book was another 50/50 for me. I loved the fact the character development in this novel is of the highest caliber it is literally an emotional rollercoaster to get to know and connect to these characters however the book does have some flaws. It wasn't even that the narration transitions were bad they were just jarring which made it difficult to fully immerse yourself into the story. Another slight issue I had was there are a lot of characters so it is slightly confusing at times but this is an issue I have with all novel that has a large ensemble cast. Overall, the novel is raw and graphic in places but it is very vibrant so much so you can practically feel the characters fear.

An already horrible day turns even worse when Kasey witnesses the execution murder of a beautiful woman named Donna Stanton.. Everyone believes Donna is on a beach somewhere enjoying life but Kasey knows different. How can she tell someone without getting involved and getting killed herself.
This book had me hooked from beginning to end. I had a hard time putting it down. A must read for people who enjoy page turners.

Excellent read. Kasey is a complex multi talented, and broke. Thriller, kept me guessing until the end.

The violence in this novel was too high and too painful for me to finish the book. The intentionally flawed characters showed that poor choices lead to worse choices. I could not recommend this book for young readers.

It's the first impression that matters, right? And the opening segment of this novel (monumentally rich crook with spectacular apartment is betrayed by impossibly beautiful call girl) is so trite that I could not get past it.

I received a review copy of ""Fatal Gift" by Michael Frase (Claren Books) through NetGalley.com.

The plot wasn't bad, but the writing was so amateurish it took away from the enjoyment. Note to author: A dress can't have spaghetti straps AND a scoop neck.

Character development is top notch. You really get to know these characters, but in not in such a way that has you deeply caring about them. They have flaws; their emotions are raw; they make really bad choices; really bad things happen to them. Other than that its a rollercoaster ride for the reader.

I really really hate head jumping without transitions that easy the reader in a logical slide from one to the other so that connections can be made and distinctions between characters are drawn. Oh well... there are a lot of characters and it can get a bit confusing at times.

This is a raw book, graphic, and void of much compassion. I get the feeling that the author didn't like even one of these characters.

I really didn't care for the book. It read more like a romance novel, but what prevented me from liking it were the trite phrases used throughout. For example, "things she had lost ... final bill not delivered yet." The story line was good, the "heroine" kept me from liking it.

Thank you for the opportunity to preview Fatal Gift by Michael Frase. This novel appears to be updated - I have read this book in the past.
That being said, it is a scary read. A young woman witnesses a murder accidentally. She knows the people who killed here are connected to organized crime. She has made a connection with the victirm; she has to do sometthing - but what - or will she be killed as a result!
I liked this book - great character development and plotline. I recommend.

If you think YOU'VE had a bad day, just wait 'til you read what happens to Kasey... Then, re-evaluate YOUR day! This book has it all: Suspense, Surprises, Thrills, Chills, Murder and Mayhem... It's a full-out roller coaster ride from start to finish. And, this is one ride you're not going to want to get off of, until you know how it will end!

I loved the character of Kasey. She is vivid, complex, multi-faceted and very likeable. And it is easy to get on board with her wanting and trying to do the right thing. She just doesn't know she's brought her concerns to the wrong people! And now, she is in more danger than ever. Her luck is so rotten, you just want to pull her through the pages, give her a big hug and let her cry it out on your shoulder. Then, you want to give her the low-down on what you know but she doesn't, put her back into the pages and, better informed now, watch her go get justice for the voiceless.

This plot line was solidly written, quite intriguing and very interesting. This was what I call a "one sitter", because once you pick it up, you're not going to want to put it down or get up, until the last word on the last page has been absorbed.
