Fatal Gift started out very strong and I was pulled into the story. Once it got to the middle, however, I was a little distracted because it seems to drag a little bit. I think it was a bit too long.

This story captivated from page one. The accidental, almost serendipitous series of events that placed the heroine in exactly the wrong place and wrong time sets in motion a series of bad buys, good guys, not sure guys and the usual double dealing and violence.

The interesting aspect is the main character and her character. She is deep and articulate, sensitive and caring. She seems simultaneously sweet wise and delicate, knowing and naive. In trying to do the right thing for the murdered woman and not quailing before the inevitable chase by the bad guys who want to shut her up. Or the cop who is good or bad guy? The back and forth is both interesting and nervewracking as of course, we want to good guys to get away unscathed.
The expertise of the writer is clear here, and makes the story flow although the good guys and bad guys are pretty typical.

I tried reading this book but stopped pretty quickly into it. The plot just seemed to silly and it was a bit too graphic for me.
