I was interested in learning more about Erin after reading Hot in the City. Erin is very direct and almost constantly on the defensive. As a female defense attorney at a firm of mostly men, she has to have a thick skin and be the "bulldog" just to prove herself. In an attempt to help her client, Erin decides to try and discredit the witness, Detective Danny Cruz, though she ends up just making herself look bad.

There is a run in between the two at a bar, where Erin slaps Danny and he kisses her. Their attraction is stuck between a love/hate situation. Essentially the two are sworn enemies as a defense attorney and a police detective, but they can't stay away.

It was a quick read, though I wish I knew more about their pull to one another.

3.5 (rounded to 4) out of 5 stars.

I really liked this novella and the tension between the leads. I'm a sucker for a second chance romance, and this was right on target. Exactly right for the length!

This story was satisfactory but I could've used more background details on the main characters. A lot was alluded to about Danny's time undercover but not much was revealed. The same went for Erin's childhood. Perhaps a full-length novel would have fleshed out the story more.

Enticing the Enemy is a rather quick read about two "enemies" undeniable attraction to one another and ultimately finding love. Erin is a defense attorney and Danny is a cop and both are under the gun at their jobs. Erin is working herself to death to make partner but she's so under appreciated. Danny is just trying to fit in after a long stint in deep under cover. They were at odds with each other through work connections. How they started running into each other outside of work, was totally believable.

When these two clash- fireworks! It was very unexpected to them both and it literally felt like the earth moved for them. So caught up in their own crap, they both forgot to actually live-or at least try! I liked how they were spicy with each other and how being around one another opened their eyes to everything they were missing. The enemies to lovers was a premise I liked, but it didn't flow real well in parts. The ending really didn't feel resolved in my eyes. I think an epilogue would've worked well here. Seeing them even six months later would've cemented everything for me.

Enticing the Enemy is a nice, short read about two people who find love in a very unexpected place. Both Danny and Erin have tough jobs and for which they are under appreciated. When they meet, they're on opposite sides of a case. They have a friend in common though, and with each meeting their attraction gets harder and harder to fight.

If you’re looking for a good, quick read, and aren't afraid of a bit of sexy time, this fits the bill.

I received an ARC of this book, via Net Galley, in exchange for a fair and honest review.

I was so excited for this one after the glimpse of Erin and Danny in book 1 (which I enjoyed). But this one, while I liked it, fell a bit flat for me. It's also a quick novella, just like book 1, but I felt like the short length worked against these two rather than for them. They spent too much of this (short!) book running hot and then cold, rather than actually together, and in the end I didn't fully get a solid and believable HEA because of that. I just wanted more, I guess. I love the premise for their dynamics -- "enemies" to lovers, banter and sparks flying -- and maybe in a longer story, it would have worked better, but here, I was just left wanting in the end.

Not a bad read, by any means, but not a top favorite. It was quick, and it was likable enough. Bonus for the mutual masturbation scene, though I wish it hadn't been so vaguely sparse (but then, that's how the sex scenes in general are here). Will I read more from Court? Sure, I like her writing style, and I'm curious to see how she handles a full length novel.

Enticing the Enemy was a great read and had me on the edge of my seat.

for Defense attorney Erin, work comes first. She worked extra just to make sure she will make it partner in her firm. When she was assigned to a case, in the courtroom, she faced with Detective Cruz who just tanked one of her case. When they cross their path again, she couldn’t avoid him any more. She was drawn to him for some reason.
Cruz has been working undercover for long time and he is transferred to this new city didn’t help him to sleep well at night. After encountering Erin, he has been dreaming about her.
She knew she couldn’t get involved with him but keeps running into him and his appearance didn’t ease her discomfort.
But sparks fly between them but their new case is entangling them....
What will they do?? Career vs love?

i have a love-hate relationship with novellas. sometimes they are short and sweet and deliver just the right balance of story and character. other times they cut short character development in favor of plot and i really hate that. the good news here is that enticing the enemy is one of the former.

erin rafferty has a terrible day in court courtesy of detective daniel cruz. mostly it's her fault that things went so badly. but his ability to remain unruffled and calm in the courtroom made things worse. so when she runs into him later that same horrible, no good, very bad day she's not happy about it. and when he acts like a jerk and calls her out on how badly she misplayed her hand in the courtroom she's embarrassed and upset. especially since all this drama is unfolding in front of her best friend, priya, and daniel's partner, brian, and the blind date they set daniel up with.

the problem is that the sparks between erin and daniel keep igniting at the most inopportune moments. when erin is asked to defend a client who daniel and brian are investigating she tries to ignore the conflicts of interest in order to preserve her career. but the deeper she gets into the case and the more involved she gets with daniel, she knows that she is compromising too much.

all daniel knows is that she's the one person who makes him feel alive again. after years working undercover and having to embrace a darkness that wasn't innate in order to survive, being with erin is a welcome distraction. more than a distraction, being with her becomes necessary to his happiness. and as much as she wants to fight it, she has to admit that being with daniel is essential to hers. watching these two battle it out in order to come together is well worth it. and luckily they don't make you wait too long because this one is short and sweet, and also sexy.
