I'm rather disappointed because I thought this was a mafia romance book. This was not a mafia romance book. I think I was confused for the most part. I'm not the audience for this one. I had to put it down because it didn't hold my attention.

Where to start? Carissa and Alec's story is one that will take you on a rollercoaster ride. You will laugh, smile, cry, and scream.

At the beginning I thought one thing of Carissa and then I changed my mind and then changed it again. While I knew who Alec was and what he stood for he also grew during the story and my views on him changed and became stronger.

At first I thought Carissa was running away from the business. But then when she was with her "Sisters" it appeared that she was still using her connections with the business. That kind of conflicted with her thoughts upon meeting Alec for the first time. She was dead set on not being with a man in the business. So it confused me when she was still playing in the business to help get her club up and running.

I found Alec to be easy to bond with. The author gave us a clear view of him from the start. He didn't appear to be a "horrible" businessman, but you understood the undertones of his business.
I found that I was more empathetic to his situation because Carissa confused me at times.

The story is well written and engaging. I just wish it didn't end so swiftly and I still have a few questions but I would recommend this read.
